Russia Week: Dyatlov Pass Mystery Solved?

Today, I discuss one of the most infamous more modern day occurrences in Russia - the Dyatlov Pass Mystery.

The Dyatlov Pass incident is whispered about among conspiracy theorists and Bigfoot enthusiasts. In 1959, young hikers took off into the Ural Mountains of Russia in the icy nasty conditions and when they didn't make it back, a search party found them - frozen and dead.

Blog Entry Saturday: Slowing Down To Art My Life

I'm not oil painting now and the practical jobs of the everyday life bleed right into weekends and nights. I feel almost mechanical at times. Yes, I multitask and wear a lot of hats very well, but there is also a soul in there that knows it's summer and a wild beast in my rib cage that wants to prowl out into the air, the heat, the water, the light. With that in mind, each day I make myself take time to photograph at least 4 photos of how I feel prowling the outdoors during my "escape" time.

Bigfoot Feet

What is a Bigfoot foot like? Well, we can make some very basic assumptions. For one, since they go barefoot, the souls must be very keratinized and tough.

Top 10 Best Female Survivors of a Horror Movie!

It would seem that horror movies favor a female surviving the massacre. Perhaps it's childbirth. If we can handle that, we can handle a guy with an axe right? I have listed my 10 favorite female survivors from a horror massacre in no particular order. I will define their motivations and their skill set - what made them into such bia-tches in the end? I'll rank them on how they survived. I might even tell you who I identify with.

Blog Entry Saturday: Wisdom Memes

A few years ago, I started putting together workshops for middle agers, for taking on the life you were supposed to have, the one you want to live before you leave this mortal arena. I made many memes to use, sharing the wisdom. As soon as things quiet down a bit, I plan to make the workshops available for free. I want to share some insights into the hard and worthy fight of chasing those dreams you never dared try.

URBEX Arizona: Abandoned Planned Subdivision and Abandoned Speedway

A chance for an urbex trek and I'm in the seat, butt wiggling, ready to go. Julie and I took a trek earlier this month to explore any abandoned sites. We picked out a town we knew had lots of abandoned sites we had photographed before, but then before leaving we checked Google Earth to find two great places just prior to the town, so we targeted them instead.

"Hereditary" New Horror Movie

I'm always looking for new horror movies that are original. Here's a new one out - "Hereditary."

IMDB: When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry.

*I am currently working with a filmmaker/screenwriter who is putting together the script for an original movie loosely based on a real-life story. More coming up soon about this involvement I will have in the making of the feature film and Ghost Hunting Theories part in it. *

Bigfoot, Pineal Gland, and Ancient Knowledge

Many skeptics utilize the term "pseudoscience" when referring to anything unexplained and how researchers go about explaining it. Let's have a look at the definition of "science."

SCIENCE: The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

Now, let's utilize science to better explain some extraordinary capabilities and their effects -

QUIZ: What Fictional Pirate Are You?

It's time for another quiz! Count your a's, b's, c's and d's and then find out which one you have the most of, scroll down and find out which infamous pirate you are.

1.  When I was in high school -
a.  I felt like I was living the same day over and over, I was just "doing time."
b.  I had a way of deflecting attention away from my lack of schoolwork with humor or charm.
c.  I could not seem to shake my awkward adolescence and the dork factor everyone identified me with in junior high.
d.  I didn't listen to authority and did what I wanted. It got me in trouble a lot, but I was free.

2.  When I think of my first love, I remember -
a.  Almost nothing. It seems so long ago and there have been so many since then.
b.  It was magical at first and then they brought up everything I did wrong all the time and the charm wore off.
c.  I can remember their scent, their smile, the way I felt, the songs on the radio, and every detail with longing.
d.  I was not ready to be locked down, I wanted my freedom and experience more than love.

3.  Music I prefer -
a.  Classical.
b.  Country-Western.
c.  1970s rock.
d.  Indie.

4.  An ideal job would be -
a.  Something I can count on, master, and perform over and over again easily and earn a safe annuity on retirement.
b.  Changing jobs often and trying new things, moving on when I get bored or frustrated.
c.  One that doesn't need references from the past jobs because otherwise I'm jinxed at getting a position.

5.  When it comes to my dating pool -

c.  I have been hurt in the past in ways that I never really got over and find myself nervous and hopeless in new situations.
d.  I enjoy them, but I do not want to take one home and keep them. I like my freedom.

Now, count your a's, b's, c's and d's. Whichever one you have the most of, is your answer. Scroll down and find out what pirate you are.

a.  Captain Barbosa (Pirates of the Caribbean)

Barbosa - Sometimes, you feel like life kicks you in the teeth and you are cursed. Every day is the same over and over and over again and you can't remember the pleasures of just being human.

b. Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)

Sparrow - You don't really have a game plan and hope that charm will make up for any lack of experience or forethought. You are spontaneous and swing from devastating defeat to beaming success in a moment's notice.

c. Captain Hook (Peter Pan)

Hook - You are haunted by your old wounds. You seek vengeance, but sometimes the bravado is balanced by a healthy dose of insecurity. You are stronger with your gang around you than when you are alone. Being alone sometimes haunts you with images from the past.

d. One-Eyed Willy (The Goonies)

Willy - You would rather die than lose what you fought so hard for. You will go down with your ship rather than be caught and held down. Freedom is your most powerful need.

"Big Legend" Movie

An ex-soldier looks for his fiancee who went missing in the Northwest. Starring Adrienne Barbeau, this Bigfoot newcomer about to be released at the beginning of July shows atmospheric promise. It's another killer Bigfoot plot, but hey the setting is amazing. This is kind of why I enjoyed "Twilight." I fast forwarded to the scenes in the Northwest woods - my favorite place on earth!

Into the Rabbit Hole: Smithsonian Coverup of Ancient Giants

It's been a while since Jim and I have done an episode of "Into the Rabbit Hole." This series is us picking a subject of conjecture and then bantering back and forth as two nerds do when contemplating the if's and how's of the unexplained. It is off the cuff, unedited.

Today's subject is - why has the Smithsonian Institute and Department of Ethnology worked so hard to coverup the existence of giants in ancient times in the Americas?

Bigfoot Researcher: Karl Sup

No doubt by now my readers have avidly followed researcher Karl Sup's Long Island urban Sasquatch series and the presently ongoing one ChiSquatch about Chicago's urban Sasquatch.

Fata Morgana and Ghost Ships

Fata Morgana is a complex superior mirage. In this instance, in the horizon a narrow band seen can separate an image, casting what looks like another image superior to the original object. In the image above it appears as if the ship is in the air. Below, the image shows a repeat of it up in the air. Sometimes, the image can be inverted. This occurs when rays of light are bent when they pass through layers that are different temperatures.

Bigfoot Researcher: David Claerr

Today, I'm covering yet another Bigfoot researcher I greatly admire. Some researchers bring to the table an interesting set of background. Perhaps they have a medical background or they are primate experts, maybe they are outdoorsman and survivalists or study the Native American culture. In David's case, a combination of interest in ancient studies and art have made him not only a fascinating human being, but a very well rounded researcher.

Blog Entry Saturday: The Implications of Bigfoot

Science has done an excellent job of pointing out that what we thought we know about man is liquid until we discover new test methods and discoveries. It wasn't until recently we could prove we carried Neanderthal genes, and then a prior unknown man, Denisovans. Then, they realized from discoveries that those men were not only out and about Europe long before Homo sapiens but vastly ahead of us in technology and brain capacity. So, what does this tell us about the Bigfoot people?
