Halloween Memorial: John Wolfe

I have been very blessed to know some amazing bloggers, but one who was very dear to my heart was my good friend, John Wolfe. He ran the blog Season of Shadows and embodied all things vintage and true Halloween. He would begin early in the year designing elaborate home haunts and sharing on video how he went about designing them. He did lots of volunteer work and was always available for anyone. He sought to understand the spiritual and the other side. In fact, as he was dying, he said he would contact me through EVPs. And, he asked me to write his memorial which I did and he read it and approved of it before his passing at much too early an age in his 30s. Each Halloween, I will post his memorial here. Halloween is his season, his paradise, and I miss him something awful every October. I'd like to share him with you now -

1970s Goofy Creature Horror with Big Stars: Cheese-O-Rama Fun!

"Devil Dog: Hound of Hell" is just one of many awesome 1970s campy movies. Some can be found on YouTube. This one stars Richard Crenna and Yvette Mimieux. A dog, a minion of Satan, torments a family.  Here's more fun ones -

Gorgeous Etsy Jewelry Shop

When someone very dear to me lost his daughter to murder, I wanted to give him something that would make it possible to take her spirit with him everywhere he goes. So, I started a search that ended up at one of the best jewelry sites I've found on Etsy, and is by Divine intervention, the shop owner is one of the kindest and most thoughtful human beings.

All Puppet Players: "Friday the 13th"

Last Saturday night my son took me to All Puppet Players theater for a bawdy couple of hours of Friday the 13th musical with puppets. When they say 17 or over only, they mean it!

Scary Neighbors

Come on, admit it, it scares you to think of running into weird locals in some backwater roadway or small town, maybe a stretch of the desert while driving alone, but sometimes those weirdos are your neighbors!

I'm Co-Hosting "Vegas Supernatural Tonight" on KCOR Radio

Where did October go? We are on our last episode with me co-hosting. I love doing these October shows with Shawn Whittington on Vegas Supernatural. He is such a great host and so enthusiastic about the guests and subjects I bring for the month.

Tonight, we have one of the most intriguing researchers I know - Jeff Woolwine. He is not only an expert on Phoenix Lights, but has been making a study of the ancient HoHoKam tribe's petroglyphs on the mountains in the area. He regularly watches the skies and has been able to capture some amazing things!

Phoenix FearCon 2019 - Great Event!

Last weekend, my best friend Julie and I (LINK) went to Phoenix FearCon, an indie horror film event. This year it was held at Sun Studios of Arizona - an ideal venue! Here's just some of the fun to be had! -

Urban Exploration Photographer Johnny Joo

Most of my readers know that I'm crazy about urban exploration. Mine is mostly done in the Southwestern US where I live, but when I'm on the road across the country, I'm curious about all abandoned sites. There is one urbex'er photographer that I greatly admire and I hope to share some of the insights and work of Johnny Joo -

How To Host a Horror Movie Marathon

You want to have friends over for a movie marathon, but it's not enough to just show one horror movie after another. How about if you pick a theme with snacks to match and a lineup that showcases the theme?

Entrances To Hell

Caves and entrances to Hell, they seem to be inextricably connected. Hell Cave (Jama Pekel) in Slovenia is one such supposed entrance to the underworld. Many locations have been called the entrance to Hell. Let's check some out -

Hot Cocoa Retreat

We are moving into hot cocoa weather. It's not just a cup of sweet wonder, but a beautiful sentimental ritual. Today's post is going to delve deeply into the best hot cocoa recipes in the world and the best treats to accompany them, all hot cocoa-themed!

The Science of the Paranormal

I have worked on many cases where a benign entity wanted to reach out to a relative. The living relative, due to TV shows, movies, or religion had a view of paranormal events as threatening.

Creepiest Costumes - Indigenous and Pagan

There is nothing more eerie than local legends brought to life in costumes made from items cobbled from cottages and woodlands. Some portray pagan entities or monsters created to keep the children humble, but they have one thing in common - they unsettle the viewer.

"Dark Selfies" Streaming TV Series - Coming in 2020!

Our group at State 48 Films has been working vigorously on our new streaming TV series, "Dark Selfies."

Feel free to follow our page on Facebook as we go into filming the series for release in 2020.   LINK

The series is an anthology in the horror/thriller genre.

I will be updating regularly on our progress.

Working with a team of such professional talents is so rewarding. I am co-author on several of the scripts and will be working in other capacities such as makeup/wardrobe, directing, and promotion.

While the Collector gathers the dark selfies in his private album, fates unfold among those captured in those dark moments. What does he know that we do not?
This is the series I always dreamed was out there. I am very excited this is evolving into something my readers will enjoy very much!

How To Make a Humunculus Monster: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

Those of us who thoroughly enjoyed the cult-favorite made-for-tv horror movie from 1973, "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," recall the creatures. Those tiny little nighttime beings horrified many a youth back in the day. But, they were actually based on a concept of a small being created by alchemy called, "homunculi." (singular "homunculus")

Hope y'all join in and listen, as this show promises to take us to places we've never been before!

Jason Hawes Versus Grant Wilson: Ghost Nation Versus Ghost Hunters

It would appear two separate opportunities came to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson when it came to the desperation to revive ghost shows. Sadly, same people - same formats *yawn*.

Foo Fighter Phenomena

Murder Victim Thought To Be Halloween Prop!

Like a scene out of "Trick R Treat," in 2015, a woman's body was a victim of murder and misunderstanding on Halloween Night.

Chasing Shadow People!

As part of my series this month and next, I will be encouraging everyone to chase local legends, notorious places, test fear of darkness, forests, caves, and anything that goes bump in the night. Today, I'm sharing a post on how to (hopefully) run into a shadow person and my theory on what they may be!

Tall, Dark and Elusive - My Newest Book Is Out!

Book two in my SEEK Team Investigation paranormal romance series is out now online in bookstores. It will be out next week on ebooks - all formats - on Smashwords.

TALL, DARK AND ELUSIVE

Billionaire Edward Schulte dispatches psychic Beau Fraser and her investigative team to track down evidence of Bigfoot. Chasing the elusive hairy man is nearly as dangerous and terrifying as her feelings for Marco. Caught in the crosshairs between two men who want her, Beau has to dance a fine line. On the one hand, she must keep Schulte’s secret from the team, and on the other hand, she doesn’t want to upset the newly developed closeness with Marco. Will the team that investigated ghosts in the last installment (“Ghost of a Chance!”) be able to survive the dangers in the forests, and will Beau Fraser be able to survive the dangers of the heart?

As the air turns crisp and cool, nothing beats a good cozy romance tale. Simply put, Tall, Dark, and Elusive is an excellent read and I highly recommend it.
                                                                                                            Barry Huddleston of Gnostalgia

Book one in the series was "Ghost of a Chance!" (the beginning of the romance between Beau and Marco - and investigating ghosts)

I am proud to say the editor proclaimed this was the best cold read she had ever had! Be ready for excitement and the use of real-life info on the subject of Bigfoot as well as use of real-life encounters.

Making Vintage Halloween Masks

Halloween masks of the 70s and 80s were plastic store-bought variety, but prior to that, folks made their own masks often times. Some of the masks they came up with were very unsettling. I believe they are much scarier than any "realistic" werewolf and clown masks of today.

Weird and Creepy Trail Cam Finds

Things that make the trail cam owners go "hmm?"

The History of Halloween Candy Tampering

October 31st is noted as All Hallow's Eve or Halloween.  It's believed Christians took this festival concept right from pagan origins of the Celtic Samhain celebration. There is much debate on how this holiday began, but it has become a most popular time for children to get candy and adults to put on costumes and watch scary movies. The basics are the same; scary decorations, costumes, parties, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, Jack O'Lanterns, apple bobbing, trick or treating, and horror themes. America has done Halloween up more than any other country, celebrating it full force with horror movie marathons to Haunted Attractions and huge parties.

Habituation Situation: Open Written Communication in Two Languages

Every Monday on Ghost Hunting Theories I continue to archive what I consider to be one of the most significant habituation situations documented by researchers. As the series continues along, field notes, photos, audio and video will be revealed on a massive scale.

As the researchers worked to understand the entities they were dealing with, around every corner they found more and more startling evidence and interactions that changed their viewpoint on everything they thought they knew about mankind.

The Most Haunted Roads in America

*Sharing this awesome route*

Ready to be scared this Halloween season? We’d love to frighten you with the tales of America’s seven most terrifying roads. These roads are quite spooky as one may see from each unique story they hold. The roads are located in the NorthEast region of the U.S. and create a perfect chilling route that takes around 6 hours to complete.

If you plan on visiting these roads you will find technology failures, ghosts roaming the streets, strange paranormal activity (including glowing orbs), unexplained fog, and screeches in the distance. You’ve been warned!

See an overview of the eerie roads below or read the full haunted road trip here. You’ll catch a glimpse of the legends on America’s most terrifying road, Clinton Road.

Scary Vintage Homemade Masks

We tend to be greatly unsettled by photographs of vintage Halloween and the handmade nondescript masks. Why is that? It seems to be something inherent in us to need to see details of faces.

No-Cost Halloween Decor

Why was vintage Halloween so creepy? Folks used things around the homestead to decorate and that made for some spooky and worn/old looking items versus store-bought shiny and glittery stuff. Here's some no-cost stuff to do at home for a REAL vintage Halloween feel -

Season Premiere of "In Search Of" on History Channel

Our beloved History Channel is bringing back a new season of "In Search Of." I admit I was slow to dive in and finally watch the series with Zachary Quinto because of all the sentimental feelings regarding the original series hosted by Leonard Nimoy.

I am very pleased to be able to say I adore the new spin on the series. The best thing they did was to bring Quinto into the action in a kind of Josh Gates role. He dives into the mysteries and gives personal insights as a natural-born skeptic.

I am so eagerly awaiting the new season!
