I had a chance to study a skull that is about to be returned to authorities following the death of an archaeologist who had it in his possession. Could seem like a typical ancient skull in an ancient cliff-dwelling region of Arizona, that is until you compare it with known skulls.

Chickies Rock: Vortex of Strangeness

This lovely quartzite rock formation in Lancaster County, PA is not just a lovely and some would say powerful rock, but it appears to be in the center of weirdness like some kind of ancient rock conduit.

Fairfax, Virginia: Mysterious Town

Fairfax, Virginia is my hometown. I loved the place so much, as any kid does when they grow up in a neighborhood that is their entire world. I went back to visit in 2014 and decided I will likely never go back again. The city allowed for massive development that meant many historic estates were gone, even the one I grew up in, Aspen Grove, was plowed under for condos surrounding the 250-year-old home. Unlike nearby Clifton that did a great job of preserving its history and zoning for large acreage homes to keep buildup down, Fairfax was had a free-for-all. Even with its chaos and condos, Fairfax has an interesting history and many mysteries.

White Tank Mountains: High Strangeness and Beauty

A recent trek to the White Tank Mountains in Northwestern Phoenix area proved to be enlightening and intriguing. I had heard about this range of mountains for some time and in my mind imagined them to be a mirror image of South Mountain, another metropolitan range in Phoenix that also housed the ancient HoHoKam tribe that went missing almost a thousand years ago.
