Cursed Crater Lake, Oregon

It was 7700 years ago when a volcano peak collapsed and created what is now known as Crater Lake. The Native People speak of it in their legends passed down, as their ancestors witnessed it at Mt Mazama.

Something so beautiful also comes with a curse, at least that is what the locals believe.

(LINK) Cloaked in some of the most gorgeous natural beauty in the country, it is a place which has long been steeped in dark legends, and which exudes a long list of a variety of high strangeness, encompassing everything from mysterious disappearances and deaths, to strange creatures, to ghosts, UFOs, and spooky unexplained phenomena. It is a place that is at once a beauty and perhaps also a beast.

At 1943 feet deep, it is the deepest lake in the United States.

It is the sighting place of Bigfoot frequently. Even rangers have reported them throwing pine cones at them. There have even been reports of Bigfoots being killed there.

A good deal of UFO sightings have occurred at the lake. It's hard to tell if this is incidental, as the lake provides a nice panorama of the sky.

For the Klamath People, the lake is sacred. They believe it to be a meeting place of the good above and the dark below.

It wouldn't be complete without sightings and legends of monsters in the lake -

LINK:    Georgian Mattie Hatcher was rowing merrily about the lake with her family when something “a block long” swam beneath their boat. “I have never been so scared in my life,” she recalled. “What we saw that day was a monster. To me, it looked like a dragon [emphasis mine]. I know why the Indians call that place Lost Lake. They say monsters live in it. I believe them. I know, because I saw one there.”

Wizard Island on the lake has been the focus of legends by native people and sightings of oddities by people today. Rangers have seen what looks like campfires on the island only to arrive and find nothing. Other legends include dragons and odd flying salamanders.

As well, there have been numerous missing persons reports in that area, some found in the oddest of ways, others vanished without a trace.

As well, numerous planes and boats have gone missing in lake.

When you add it all up, Crater Lake would seem to be a classic "portal" or "vortex" as some refer to locations with strange lights, missing people, odd deaths, ghosts, UFOs, Bigfoot, strange creatures, and more.
