EVP Session with John Wolfe of Season of Shadows

Many of us in the blogger world miss our beloved Halloween Blogger, John Wolfe. He ran the blog "Season of Shadows" for years, sharing his talent for building props to create amazing Halloween haunts for the children, donated to charities, did amazing giveaways, and was the most gentle heart in all the world and the greatest devotee for authentic and atmospheric Halloween season. He passed away this past springtime and it is Julie and I's hope to keep him alive each Halloween. His life was online and there we hope to keep him going in this honored holiday season. Here is my online memorial to learn about him. Here is a charity (Unicef tap project) that was his driving force if you'd like to make a donation in his memory.

Before John passed, he offered to have EVP sessions with us whenever we wanted. Julie and I sat down to perform one and it is below. What is interesting is that before we started, I went into the other room and felt a rush of energy sort of knock me over and I felt this sense of John waving "come on!!!" I felt an urgency. I came into the dining room for our session and Julie said, "I felt a rush of energy while I was on the sofa." It had prompted her to go to the dining room for the session.

Before I ask the first question, Julie and I clearly heard on playing this on speakers, a man's voice say something short and then one word as I first speak. We also heard footsteps on hard ground at the 45 second spot. As well, there was knocking sounds near the end and right after I say, "he was a humanitarian and an artist and a dreamer..." you hear what sounds like "Wolfe!" (4:16 mark) But we're not certain that is what it was. The conditions in which we did this EVP session were exceedingly silent. We did it late at night with no sounds from outside or anything in the room. Had we heard anything, we would have tagged it. His friend and a family member listened to it and believed they heard all sorts of things within, but we were not able to make those out. We have plans to try this again, but we were quit excited and chilled to get what we did.

We wish you all a wonderful Halloween. In case you are curious, here is some video of John working on one of his many amazing creations and another video of one of the haunts he created for the kids. We miss you, John, and we keep you in our Halloweens.

Viral Video Showdown Premieres on Syfy Tonight!

In each episode of Viral Video Showdown, hosted by Kevin Pereira (Attack of the Show), two teams will dig deep into their bag of viral tricks to create a video that best captures that week’s theme and impresses the expert panel of viral video judges: Adam Sessler (G4’s X-Play), YouTube star Brittani Taylor who has amassed over 160 million video views, and Sandeep Parikh (The Guild).  Guest judges will include Andy Milonakis (The Andy Milonakis Show), YouTube lip-syncing sensation Keenan Cahill and “Obama Girl” Amber Lee Ettinger.

In the premiere episode “Real Life Movie Trailer,” Final Cut King, a team of three college students known for their special effects wizardry, take on Half Day Today, a group of 16 television professionals who pride themselves on strong storytelling and comedy.  With the challenge of creating a fake movie trailer, both teams race ahead with only four days and a limited budget to create a unique internet video.  Only one team will be crowned victorious by the panel of judges and awarded the $5,000 cash prize.

Future episode themes include turning a cliché into a 90-second story in the style of an action film, the retelling of a fairy tale with a modern twist, the creation of a brand new sport or game and the promo to go along with it, and a musical how-to video.

Chilean Mummies: Aliens, UFOs, Mining?

A Chilean UFO/alien episode of “Destination Truth” prodded me to write more about the subject of the Chilean (Chile has the largest copper mines in the world) mummies and aliens, UFOs, and the mining areas. I wrote a post about the connections in heavy mining areas with UFO sightings and alien sightings. A copper mine in Mexico was the place where the “Starchild” skull was discovered by a woman hiding from a storm. This skull has been examined extensively and confused the experts with its alien-like features. An episode of "Monsterquest" pursuing the flying humanoids sightings in Mexico led the public exposure of a small alien-looking creature supposedly killed by a farmer and whose tiny body is being examined by experts who are baffled by its human-like shape and strange cranium and upright posture.

Flying humanoids, copper mines, alien creatures hiding in caves, Starchild skull, unusually high percentages of citizens having sleep paralysis … All these features are curiously interwoven.

But, why?

First, let’s discuss the Chilean mummies. They are described well by Wikipedia: “The Chinchorro mummies are mummified remains of individuals from the South American Chinchorro culture found in what is now northern Chile and southern Peru. They are the oldest examples of mummified human remains, dating to thousands of years before the Egyptian mummies. They are believed to have first appeared around 5000 B.C. and reaching a peak around 3000 B.C. Often Chinchorro mummies were elaborately prepared by removing the internal organs and replacing them with vegetable fibers or animal hair. In some cases an embalmer would remove the skin and flesh from the dead body and replace them with clay. Shell midden and bone chemistry suggest that 90% of their diet was seafood. Many ancient cultures of fisherfolk existed, tucked away in the arid river valleys of the Andes, but the Chinchorro made themselves unique by their dedicated preservation of the dead. The Chinchorro mummies are significant because during the periods of these mummies, everyone who died was mummified, including children, new-borns and fetuses. This shows that it was not reserved for those of high rank or high status - mummification was not a sign of social stratification. Radiocarbon dating reveals that the oldest, discovered Chinchorro mummy was that of a child from a site in the Camarones Valley, about 60 miles south of Arica and dates from around 5050 B.C. The mummies continued to be made until about 1800 B.C., making them contemporary with Las Vegas culture and Valdivia culture in Ecuador and the Norte Chico civilization in Peru. The Chinchorro mummies are the earliest examples of the deliberate preservation of the dead. The mummies may have served as a means of assisting the soul in surviving, and to prevent the bodies from frightening the living.

The massive amounts of baby mummies were believed to be the result of mercury poisoning which is very high in Chile. Mercury poisoning the waterways is common in copper mining areas, especially long ago when no one understood the environmental ramifications. But, could the mercury cause more than just poisoning? Here are just some of the symptoms of mercury poisoning: irritability, anxiety/nervousness, often with difficulty in breathing, restlessness, exaggerated response to stimulation, fearfulness, emotional instability, lack of self control, fits of anger, with violent, irrational behavior, loss of self confidence, indecision, shyness or timidity, being easily embarrassed, loss of memory, inability to concentrate, lethargy/drowsiness, insomnia, mental depression, despondency, withdrawal, suicidal tendencies, manic depression, numbness and tingling of hands, feet, fingers, toes, or lips, muscle weakness progressing to paralysis, ataxia, tremors/trembling of hands, feet, lips, eyelids or tongue, incoordination.

Now, let’s talk theories…you know I enjoy that process.

Are these sightings of UFOs and alien-like creatures a sign that aliens are attracted to mining areas for reasons of resources?

Are the sightings of UFOs and alien-like creatures a sign of mercury poisoning and issues with the mental state of the locals, especially those who live close to the mines and drink water that’s been corrupted by mercury?

Are these alien-looking creatures somehow a life form affected by living and evolving in the mining areas that are corrupted by mercury?

Are none of these issues related? Are lights in the sky and flying humanoids completely unrelated to the reports of strange alien creatures? Could these creatures actually be a process separate from the UFOs, such as a creature that evolved within the caves with large eyes and colorless skin to survive the conditions?

Are the lights and UFO sightings actually some form of earthlights or spooklights caused by the mineralogy and tectonics of the area and the alien-looking creatures a legend born from fear of the caves and mines?

I would love to hear theories y'all might have. This is an interesting and perplexing set of phenomenon, very regional, and definitely worth theorizing.

Overloaded Cemeteries

What do they do when cemeteries overflow and there are just too many bones to deal with? Here was one man's idea for what to do...

Apparently, the French like to treat their dead like, well, Americans (hee hee)

Well, if you run out of ideas, this artist (Benjamin Kelley) pulverizes bone and adds them to resin to make art.

Sunday Evening Movie: PIN

The movie "Pin" is one of my favorite of the never noticed movies that disturbs. If you don't like mannequins and were freaked by "Psycho," this is your movie! Enjoy!

Horror: Mother Earth Fights Back!

There's a hundreds of themes in horror movies, but one of my favorite ones is when Mother Earth fights back. There's actually a fairly big variety in this theme that began with the 1950s SciFi movies of nuclear outcomes and into the 70s when the polluted earth terrified us. Let's have a look at some of the gems in this genre -

The Day of the Animals

You can find this one on YouTube shown in parts.

Prophecy

You can find this one on YouTube in parts.

Food of the Gods

Cabin Fever

Godzilla

Them

The Incredible Shrinking Man

Candlelight Tale: Scarecrow Horror

If you're on Facebook, be sure to follow Boo Dazzle--they made my necklace in this video and I was soooo impressed with their work at FearCon event.

Best Halloween Episode on TV Ever!

This was my favorite show! I miss it so much!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

$10,000,000 For Proof of Bigfoot?

I'm not thrilled about this one, but SpikeTV (can you call it DesperateTV?) is planning ten one-hour episodes of a reality show with a 10,000,000 bounty to prove Bigfoot. I don't see anything in the plans to protect Bigfoot from the disgusting reality that is reality TV and contestants that will rush the woodlands, public lands, perhaps in hopes of trapping, hurting, or killing a Bigfoot.

They supposedly have to show how to maneuver the countryside and have experts on Bigfoot to aid them. I'm disgusted. At least F'ing Bigfoot is funny and there's 4 people and a film crew who haven't a blessed chance in hell of disrupting a Bigfoot, but this could become very very dangerous and ugly and it might encourage even more antics in the woods by citizens.

I am not looking forward to this hot mess
