Hey, it's that time again. From now through the entire evening (until someone passes out or falls asleep at the keyboard), we hang out here and comment back and forth. Anyone with nothing to do, please come and join us. We goof off, chit chat, talk about what we're watching on TV, what we're drinking, throw out philosophical questions, flirt and just plain old goof off. You are encouraged to add to the mayhem and chaos. You may begin now....
As always, I am on-board whenever anyone wants to join.
ReplyDeleteHiya!!
ReplyDeleteHaving a few drinks with my Fiancée, blogging while he plays World of Warcraft! hahaha What an exciting Friday night! lol
Hey, at least you have a male body nearby...
ReplyDeleteHa ha I suppose huh?!
ReplyDeleteWe're such nerds. lol
It's such a fall night, I love it!
Lucky gal! It's fall here, in that it's below 100. Does it smell like fall outside? God, I miss that smell of rotting leaves and distant chimney smoke. What's the drink tonight?
ReplyDeleteHmmm has a male nearby, what am I supposed to do with him. haha! Hi gals!
ReplyDeletebemistified.blogspot.com
Oh my, you don't want me to answer what to do with a male nearby. The poor fellow would be put through the paces all night long. Yeah, it's been that long....
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of fall and yes, it does smell like fall.
ReplyDeleteNot many know what I mean when I ask if it smells like fall, I'm glad someone did! hehe
It is pretty chilly tonight also, I like it though. hehe
Oh guys, just so you know, I have a few giveaway over at my blog! Just letting you know, if your bored later you could check it out!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bookmarkyourthougts.blogspot.com
So where does everyone live?
I'm from Canada
Natasha, curl up in a blanket for me. I'll be sitting with the fan on me like most nights. Some day, I'll be back in my four seasons again. I'm just waiting for my son and his fiancee to move out of here when she graduates and then I'll happily give the desert the finger as I ride away.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because Sometimes I feel like packing up and moving to a place around there. Where it's summer 24/7, but then I think of fall and say, no way! I do think I'll move down for a few months one day! ha ha I still want the experience of summer for longer than 2ish months, But not 24/7!@
ReplyDeleteAutumnforest, I'm curious, do you watch Ghosts hunters?? I love it.
ReplyDeleteNatasha;
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'd be happy where it's fall all year-round. Is there such a place? Today, I took a break from work (work from home) and went down to the pool. It's butted up against the desert preserve and little prarie dogs were running around, butterflies were going nuts, bunnies were hopping around and the sun was beating down on me. The water was fairly decent (about 80) but I like it about 68. I'm a cold water gal, myself. But, I do have to admit the sun felt good when the water was refreshing. Summertimes the water is around 95 and it's like taking a freaking bath.
I have to admit the first 3-4 seasons of GH were great. It's gone downhill real fast. I suppose it's a combination of things. I've found a strong correlation with geomagnetic storms and activity and the first few years they were on, it was the most active it's ever been, then around 2008 until just recently it went dead and their shows had little going on. I think what drives me nuts about these guys is that they cut a path into the industry and could do anything, but they don't grow or change or try new things or mix it up. It's gotten kind of routine. Admittedly, ghost hunting is a bore. It's amazing someone as spastic as myself can do it, but it's for those few moments when something happens that it's worth sitting and keeping yourself from falling asleep all night on a hunt. If I were in those boys' shoes, I'd seriously get scientists, experts, equipment. I'd make advances in the industry.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are right in the desert, so that would be super hot. I couldn't imagine. WE pretty much have 2 months summer, 1 or 2 months of fall, then 4 or 5 months of winter, and then 2 or 3 months of spring.
ReplyDeleteWinter usually lasts a while.. :/ But no igloos! haha lol
I love snow, but a few months would be sufficient. I hate sunshine and heat. I think I'd do great in Portland Oregon and I think that's where my son and his fiancee want to settle and I'd be thrilled. Our growing season is starting now. I can plant my lettuce and herbs and spinach and tomatoes now and grow until May. It's summer here from April to November and then it's fall from November to February and then it's spring from February to April. Yeah, it's all messed up. The leaves actually change in December! Makes Christmas kind of weird.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's pretty crazy/cool. haha
ReplyDeleteI'd like to live there for one year. That would be nice! :) hehe
A huge amount of population (nearly all) came from cold places and live like lizards sunning on rocks. I have the opposite situation. I've been here so long, being cold sounds wonderful. I don't even own a winter coat. Pathetic, huh?
ReplyDeleteI think the thing with me is that I find with all 4 seasons, each season your get excited for the next. It's the variety! hehe
ReplyDeleteHi Natasha,
ReplyDeleteNice book blog you have there.
Barry
I have so many winter coats! haha
ReplyDeleteWe kind of need them. lol
gnostalgia - Thanks! Do you have a blog? My Fiancée is actually in the middle of doing it over.. he's good at it, so it'll deff look better soon! haha
ReplyDeleteNatasha;
ReplyDeleteI grew up near Washington DC with four seasons. My body still does this strange internal thing when it knows the season should be changing. You never lose those internal rhythms. This time of year when I'm in the Halloween mood, I go to a pumpkin patch and get a horrible sunburn and am sweating. No fun! I close the blinds, cool the house down and light a pumpkin scented candle and watch horror movies to feel like it's the season. You can't imagine how weird Christmas is. Hee hee
gnostalgia - Is your blog.. http://gnostalgia.wordpress.com/ ?? If so, I like it!
ReplyDeleteBarry is an amazing book reviewer at Gnostalgia.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Barry. I just made myself a weird dinner which is typical of my single days. On the plate? Honey whole bran homemade muffins (yummers), thin slices of English cheddar, baby carrots, slices of maple turkey and a bowl with buffalo sauce and ranch dressing to roll up the lunch meat with the cheese and carrot inside and eat that way. Oh, and a glass of port. I'm such a freak when I'm on weird eating jags.
Yeah mine is at:
ReplyDeletehttp://gnostalgia.wordpress.com
I like it! I'm watching the disturbing Global Warming post right now.
ReplyDeleteHa ha Autumnforest! I never had that before I don't think! hehe
ReplyDeleteyummy I'm having salsa and chips for dinner ... lol
ReplyDeleteI want Nachos!!! lol
ReplyDeleteNatasha;
ReplyDeleteI am an excellent cook but since leaving my very long marriage, I am thrilled to not have to cook by his weird tastes anymore so I am rebelling and eating the things I like--things with lots of flavor.
Barry;
That does not constitute a meal, dear.
Yes it is a meal and it takes care of many of the important food groups like the vegetable group and the corn chip group.
ReplyDeleteSuch a well rounded man. You should see my dessert. I'm creative, if nothing else. I opened a can of pears and put the halves in port wine and drizzled a little honey over it. Well, at least I know it will go with my drink.
ReplyDeleteA little honey drizzled over anything is good ...
ReplyDeleteSome things I prefer with their natural taste.
ReplyDeleteTonight is werewolf night for me. I've got on "The Howling" now but have a lineup of one after another to run through the evening.
ReplyDeleteCooking is an art ... nothing like something spicy
ReplyDeleteTCM has some vintage zombie movie playing
ReplyDeleteBarry;
ReplyDeleteI really do love it. I'm kind of like Giada on the Food Channel when it comes to cooking. I don't think there's anything sexier for a man than the smells of cooking. And, men are so much more agreeable when they are satisfied with food before satisfying other things. Besides, in my case, the dude seriously needs stamina. :-)
Thats why I take vitamins
ReplyDeleteBasic nutrition, puppy, but vitamins don't give you energy, carbs do. Nutrition 101. You seriously need a woman feeding you, buddy.
ReplyDeletemaybe I'll just take a course ... wink
ReplyDeleteKept seeing the "lonely on a Friday night" announcements so I thought I'd pop in and say hello.
ReplyDeleteI'm more busy than lonely, as I'm making dinner, but I AM alone... :)
Steve;
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined in. Sorry I had to step out for an unexpected emergency at the bank. Aren't all emergencies at the bank? No, it was a good one. So, what are you making yourself, buddy?
I'm still here. If anyone wants to hang out.
ReplyDeleteHello All
ReplyDelete@Autumnforest
The club ideal is a good one.
Sex, clowns, cemeteries…I think the Masons got that covered
Hey Jim;
ReplyDeleteThat series also includes a mermaid, werewolf, ghost and vampire. Hey, you gotta get it where you can. What's up with you 2-nite? Are you easterner or westerner?
Living the good life microwave pizza and coke zero.
ReplyDeleteNeither east or west way far south- Texas. The weather has been great. Love the fall 50 in morning and a high of 85
Well, I'll consider that my neck of the woods since so much of America is crammed itself into the NE and Midwest. I'm in AZ. Microwave pizza and Coke Zero. Tsk Tsk. Haven't mastered feeding yourself yet?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn’t say mastered but I know my way around the kitchen. I must say I never tried a carrot roll in turkey slices with buffalo and ranch sauce.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get around to planting my lettuce on my new patio yet. I'm not sure how to garden in an apartment, but I'll find a way. I usually lay out a lettuce leaf, lay the turkey on it, the slice of cheese and then the carrot and roll it up and dip it that way. It's nasty good. I'll eat anything with buffalo sauce on it-seriously, ANYTHING! :-)
ReplyDeleteHydroponics the best for apartment gardening. Just gravel, water add some light and then continuous harvest.
ReplyDeleteEcho;
ReplyDeleteIt sounds brilliant. I have to admit, I need to put everything up high. The prarie dogs and bunnies are on my patio all the time--the little boogers. Maybe I'll do hanging planters.
You are so right about buffalo sauce, finger licking good adds favor to any meat. That lettuce wrap sounds tasty.
ReplyDeleteJim;
ReplyDeleteDo I now have you all hungry again? Yeah, I have to admit, I go into a restaurant and they have anything buffalo, I'm all over that. So, now I want to see a picture of you in the clown costume from childhood. You should send me on. I'd love to see it. I wish I had ones from my childhood. I was a gypsy almost every Halloween--tumbly curls and a love of clanking jewelry--it was the perfect costume. You going to any parties for Halloween this year? Dressing up?
What was for dinner?
ReplyDeleteCurry beef with rice and peas and carrots.
Then coffee and "Nancy Drew" movie from a couple of years ago, as a change of pace from all the horror flicks and Ninja movies I've been watching the past few weeks to set up "31 Days of Halloween" and "Nine Days of the Ninja." :)
Steve;
ReplyDeleteHalloween and Ninjas, huh? I escaped my home with just a tiny TV with VHS. I'm stuck watching horrid old VHS horror movies to get my Halloween on. Well, this week finally I'm going out to get a big screen and DVD player and I can watch my extensive horror collection. Yahoo! I think I'll begin with my collection of Hammer movies. Nancy Drew, huh? You are really interesting with your movie choices. I'm putting in Captain Ron--yeah, bottom of the barrel. But, Kurt Russell is pretty tasty and absolutely adorable as Capt. Ron.
I don’t have any pictures form my childhood. When I moved from my mother’s house after high school, I left everything behind. Thinking I would always be able to go back and get. My mother boxed up some of my things from my childhood, but I have no ideal where they went.
ReplyDeleteI’m not the party type anymore. I still like to have fun and enjoy life, but I enjoy being around just a few friends. I prefer small groups of two or three people to hang with.
That pizza has vanished quickly. All that food talk as got me going. I guess my going to get some ice cream before I head to bed. I like it when it is about half melted sweet and sticky.
Good night and sleep tight don’t let the bedbugs bit.
Autumn,
ReplyDeleteI love movies... doesn't really matter what genre. Give me a DVD, and I'll watch it and review it... eventually. I think "Nancy Drew" has been waiting to be seen for at least three years. If I'd known how cute and funny it was, I might have watched it sooner. It's not often these days where a remake/adaptation of some classic bit of pop culture gets treated with the sort of respect that the Nancy Drew property got. Yes, it's a funny movie that borders on a spoof, but it never mocked the characters or the idea of Nancy as some sort of super girl who can do anything better than anyone else.
(Better cut and paste that... looks like I've got the review write-up started. Hehe.)
And those little TV/VHS combos... I had one of those many years ago when I moved around a lot. Handy and compact. :)
Steve;
ReplyDeleteAh, a movie lover. That is always a welcome friend. I find my mood for movies changes. In the springtime, I get a horrible hankering for romantic comedies and anything involving beaches. Wonder why? Hee hee. In the autumn, of course horror, but more specifically movies with thick woods and werewolves. Was just watching The Final Terror. There's a great in-the-woods horror. I enjoyed it and lots of big names in it, surprisingly. I'll have to check into the Nancy Drew. Admittedly I'm part of that Pamela Sue Martin and Sean Cassidy era of Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys.
Don't think I've heard of "The Final Terror," but I'll put it on my list.
ReplyDeleteI never did see the 1970s Hardy Boy/Nancy Drew television show, but I certainly read the Hardy Boys as a kid, and I even checked out one or two of my sister's Nancy Drew books.
Yahoo-a movie you haven't heard of. I suspect you know a good deal of them. I went through a phase where I owned about 300 horror movies. I finally got real and pared it down to 150 most beloved ones. I just asked myself "have I put this on and watched it in the past 5 years?" I found some obscure ones that I was thrilled to add to the collection. You know how you see one as a kid and it terrifies you and then as an adult, not so much, but seeing it is nostalgic? I got "The Shuttered Room" with Gig Young and Carol Lynley and Oliver Reed. A classic from childhood. Sometimes, it's not about the movie so much as what it reminds you of.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I love it when a film I have fond memories of from when I was a kid either turns out to be as good as I remember it, or inspires the kind of nostalgia your describe.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am always leery about revisiting movies I have fond memories of. Too many of them don't match my recollection at all. (Although "Island of Terror" is a sort of notalgia film for me, I've come to realize. I hope it reappears on something other than VHS eventually.)
"Island of Terror." It sounds familiar. I have to admit the one I got of The Shuttered Room was a cheesy bootleg copy, but it still has that wonderful feel of around 1970 New England. So, what's your favorite movie of all time? Not necessarily the best movie made, but the one you could see a zillion times? For me, it's "Jaws." It's such a brilliantly executed film and has all the elements.
ReplyDelete"Island of Terror" has Peter Cushing fighting giant blood-sucking cancer cells on an isolated island off the coast of Britain.
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite movie... it changes depending on my mood. But one that always springs to mind when the question is asked is "Time Bandits." Never get tired of that one. Others I've watched many times, and will watch many times more, are "Young and Innocent", "The Creeps," and "Hideous." (Those last two demonstrate exactly how bad/weird my taste truly is.)
Your choices say a lot about you. What an interesting person! I'm used to the usual responses. I have to admit a terrible affinity for 1950s SciFi. Some days, I just want to play them in the background all day while I'm writing. The crazy sounds and bad acting--brilliant! Now, I'm going to have to look up these ones you mentioned. I get the feeling I've seen them, just don't recall them. Oh, now I'm feeling all nostalgic. So, what are you writing now? I'm stuck in nonfiction at the moment for several reasons. One is the obvious reason that nonfiction sells better and I'm already sort of an expert in a few areas and can instruct people on a larger scale in nonfiction. I'm about to submit one but I was hoping to work with my son the artist to get a nice mockup of how the pages would be laid out and the style of it since it's kind of like a coffee table book.
ReplyDeleteI'm finishing the initial research on a pitch to the publisher of my last book. I hope to have thing done by next week. Other than that, I'm just messing around with movie and graphic novel reviews and flirting with the notion of game design again. But the "aha!" moment in the system I'm tinkering with hasn't come.
ReplyDeleteWhen the book pitch is done and submitted, maybe I'll try to finish a couple of half-done short stories I recently unearthed on an old laptop that's been in the closet for five years. I haven't done any fiction writing since the late 1990s.
Steve, if you want to have a writer's critique between us, I have a novella that is the top of my list for my fiction works. It's a western horror involving an undead cowboy in a ghost town and the vampires who live inside the closed down mines. If you want, we could toss stuff at each other and see what sticks. I had an online writer's critique group going for a while but one by one everyone's lives got in the way. Game design, huh? You sound like me, hands in a bunch of different things. You never get bored, do you?
ReplyDeleteNo, I never do get bored. I have a list of things I'd like to get to that is a mile long, and I am constantly forcing myself to stay on task. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of swapping critiques. I'll drop you a follow-up email in a couple of weeks when the proposal's away.
Hey, procrastinating can be fun AND rewarding! Hehe!
I'm with ya there, buddy. Good timing too because I hope to get my sample chapter off to the publisher within 2 weeks. One week if I get my ass in gear. Highly distractible. I'm living on my own for the first time in my entire life and I find myself wanting to get my nest ready more than write. That's not at all like me because I could write all day and night if I were left alone. It's probably because I'm still eating and writing on my bed. I'm going out this weekend and order the sofa and dining table and TV. Finally, I can live in the other half of the apartment. So far, I've just been doing my hip hop dance workout and using the elliptical in the living room. Once I have my sofa with a chaise looking out the windows at the view, I can write my heart out. Staring down the desert should help me get the re-write on the novella in shape. It's always wonderful to know another writer. Not many people understand us. You want to talk about writing challenges-this book submission involves me doing psychic reads on abandoned places. I take a scene that I read in the location and have to write it up. It's like writing fiction, but it's an actual scene that occurred there seen through the eyes of whomever I'm reading. It's the most challenging and exciting thing I've ever done because I have to make a psychic vision come to life for people. Wow. I'm really enjoying it. So far, the reads have been intriguing, but getting into someone's head is always a rush.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the submission.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I have found your blog postings very interesting. I think I may have said this in a comment elsewhere, but I've long been of the opinion that ghost hunting is a fun hobby but ultimately just so much hookum--like the spiritualism that Conan Doyle was such a big booster--but you've called a few things to my attention that have made me revisit my attitude. (And it hasn't been the "Ghost Hunter" stuff on Sci-Fi... if anything, those guys CONFIRM my notion that it's hookum!
Keep up the good work! I'll be lurking... and shuddering in mild horror whenever Dale gets his hands on your camera. (And I'll email you shortly.)
Now... must finish these blog posts and then to bed. Talk to you later.
