Arizona Bloggers: Hug-A-Blogger

If you all recall, Julie and I proposed a book idea online on a blog specially made for the book, Hug-a-Blogger. Publishers thought it was cost prohibitive. We had it planned to take 3 weeks to cross the country and meet bloggers, have flash mobs of bloggers hugging, have meet and greets with other bloggers, interview special bloggers for the book and do a lot of online interactive things like roadside dares on Twitter and cheesy giveaways from crappy gift shops along the road, daily blogging about it on the Hug-A-Blogger blog and lots of videos and pics.

We still want to do it. We think it's a great idea to write about the people who blog, showcase them, their reasons for doing it, what they get out of it and give them their well earned hugs.

So, taking this in bites we can handle without backing by hotels and such, we'd like to cover bloggers here in Arizona where we live. This is do-able. We want to do all the same fun stuff online with social media, videos and pics daily on the blog and the release of the book on Kindle and Nook on the blog.

If anyone out there is an Arizona blogger or knows one, please comment here. We very much want to see if you and your blog might be ideal for our Hug-A-Blogger book.

  4. Thank y'all. This is exactly why I wanted to drive the US highways and do this. If I could get a lot of hotel and restaurant and gasoline sponsors, I'd do it in a heartbeat. There are a lot of stories out there and a lot of bloggers who deserve a hug from a another blogger human being and virtual hugs just don't feel as good.

  11. When Julie and I take our trip in February for your next book in the abandoned places series, I will do a roadside dare on here. I'll put up a post with a pic of where I am and y'all can chime in with dares. I'll pick one and do it on video. It's something we wanted to do on the HaB road trip too. I can test it out and see how it flies.

LA might become part of the book because we may not get enough AZ bloggers and have to reach out a bit. I will definitely put you top of the list and keep you informed.

  18. Great idea wish I had known in October I was in Tempe for about three weeks then. If you get to DFW area please let me know. Also a friend of mine is a big ghost hunter. He even went to location to be on Ghost Hunter episode. Have you heard about the William Sydney Mount House on Stony Brook, LI, NY? That is haunted by a little girl.

I had not heard of that location. I'd be intrigued to see if they get anything there.

Hug-A-Blogger would be more fun in another country. I think it would even shine more light on how we may think we're different but we're really all the same.
