Bizarre Phobias

Most people share common phobias such as public speaking, heights, flying, and closed places. There are, however, some very specialized and unusual phobias. Want to take a look at some? You might even have a few….

Chionophobia- Fear of snow
Coitophobia- Fear of coitus
Dextrophobia- Fear of objects at the right side of the body
Ephebiphobia- Fear of teenagers
Euphobia- Fear of hearing good news
Geniophobia- Fear of chins
Hedonophobia- Fear of feeling pleasure
Homichlophobia- Fear of fog
Kathisophobia- Fear of sitting down
Linonophobia- Fear of string
Medomalacuphobia- Fear of losing an erection
Nelophobia- Fear of glass
Ommetaphobia or Ommatophobia- Fear of eyes
Parthenophobia- Fear of virgins or young girls
Phasmophobia- Fear of ghosts
Tremophobia- Fear of trembling
Venustraphobia- Fear of beautiful women

You know what amazes me the most about these listed phobias? That they had to come up with names for these which means they must happen relatively frequently. You don’t feel so bad about fearing the dark or crowds, huh?

  1. I have a fear of chins...but maybe that is because I already have two and don't need another one.

  6. Well I have a fear of spiders except around Halloween and they BETTER be fake! Still creepy. Hmmm....what would a fear of Dale be???

Ah HA! AUTOMATONOPHOBIA: The fear of ventriloquist dummies and other dolls.

Ok, I'm honestly not afraid of dolls, just DALE! Mr. Creepy McCreeperson!

If you have a fear of Dale, do not come on here on the 30th. He will be doing a video with his mouth moving and his voice....

  10. When I was a kid, I had a fear of things grabbing my feet, or when I was sleeping, any part of my body. If I was in a public restroom, I had to sit with my feet extended. When I was asleep, every part of me had to be tucked under the covers.

  12. I can relate to the childhood fears. I had a terror of our basement and that was where the canned foods were stored. My mom would ask me to get something and I had to make a run down the stairs, across the concrete flooring into the root cellar area, find and grab the can(s) and rush up the stairs by the count of 20 or something imaginary would grab me from under the stairs. One time, the family dog tripped me up and I got pretty hysterical making it to the door at 25 seconds!

You are too perpetually cheery to let anything bother you. You are my inspiration for resilence!

  16. Caligynephobia is another name for fear of beautiful women.

I'm glad that I don't have this phobia or I couldn't visit this blog.

  17. Oh, Barry, you always say the right thing. I guess I'd have to ugly myself up so you'd come by and visit. It'd be worth it.

  18. I have a fear of heights ONLY if I'm not enclosed or have a solid wall at least up to my chest. I have no problem walking all the way up into lighthouses, but to get out on the "catwalk"....I just can't do it. I am compelled to jump off! Seriously! My ex-hubby has a picture of me at the lighthouse on Tybee Island in GA. He tried to get me to come out on the ledge - it had an iron gate type barrier but you could see right through it and it wasn't very high - so the picture is of me hugging the side of the light house. Needless to say it's an amusing picture. He always felt bad for me because I could only stand in the doorway of the lighthouse and look out. Never could circle around and get a full aerial view!

I also LOVE roller coasters! But that steep high ride to the top makes me CRAZY! UGH! LOL

Oh, and speaking of amusement parks, how could I forget this. I HATE FARRIS WHEELS! I go into panic mode if I'm on one. So needless to say, I don't partake in the wheel if I can get away with it. I usually can!
