Dr. Melba Ketchum's Press Release About Bigfoot DNA

Although she is not able to go into great detail about the Bigfoot DNA findings in her massive DNA project, Dr. Melba Ketchum found herself in a tough spot of having to recognize the release of information early by another researcher in Russia. In the press release, she said this quite eloquently and succinctly (below). These are exciting times and this is a good time to let everyone know that I have a post going up in the morning releasing a theory that a Bigfoot researcher and myself have put together about the foot/biomechanics of Bigfoot called the "Horizontal Dynamic Foot Theory."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

‘BIGFOOT’ DNA SEQUENCED IN UPCOMING GENETICS STUDY

Five-Year Genome Study Yields Evidence of Homo sapiens/Unknown Hominin Hybrid Species in North America

DALLAS, Nov. 24--A team of scientists can verify that their 5-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch,” living in North America. Researchers’ extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago as a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with an unknown primate species.

The study was conducted by a team of experts in genetics, forensics, imaging and pathology, led by Dr. Melba S. Ketchum of Nacogdoches, TX. In response to recent interest in the study, Dr. Ketchum can confirm that her team has sequenced 3 complete Sasquatch nuclear genomes and determined the species is a human hybrid:

“Our study has sequenced 20 whole mitochondrial genomes and utilized next generation sequencing to obtain 3 whole nuclear genomes from purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows that Sasquatch mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, but Sasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species. Our data indicate that the North American Sasquatch is a hybrid species, the result of males of an unknown hominin species crossing with female Homo sapiens.

Hominins are members of the taxonomic grouping Hominini, which includes all members of the genus Homo. Genetic testing has already ruled out Homo neanderthalis and the Denisova hominin as contributors to Sasquatch mtDNA or nuDNA. “The male progenitor that contributed the unknown sequence to this hybrid is unique as its DNA is more distantly removed from humans than other recently discovered hominins like the Denisovan individual,” explains Ketchum.

“Sasquatch nuclear DNA is incredibly novel and not at all what we had expected. While it has human nuclear DNA within its genome, there are also distinctly non-human, non-archaic hominin, and non-ape sequences. We describe it as a mosaic of human and novel non-human sequence. Further study is needed and is ongoing to better characterize and understand Sasquatch nuclear DNA.”

Ketchum is a veterinarian whose professional experience includes 27 years of research in genetics, including forensics. Early in her career she also practiced veterinary medicine, and she has previously been published as a participant in mapping the equine genome. She began testing the DNA of purported Sasquatch hair samples 5 years ago.

Ketchum calls on public officials and law enforcement to immediately recognize the Sasquatch as an indigenous people:

“Genetically, the Sasquatch are a human hybrid with unambiguously modern human maternal ancestry. Government at all levels must recognize them as an indigenous people and immediately protect their human and Constitutional rights against those who would see in their physical and cultural differences a ‘license’ to hunt, trap, or kill them.”

Full details of the study will be presented in the near future when the study manuscript publishes.

  2. There is in fact a great deal of fascinating information that is now available in the Article " "Novel North American Hominins..., Next Generation Sequencing of Three Genomes and Associated Studies", has been published. Dr. Melba Ketchum has been involved in an investigation intro the matter of the possible existence of an unclassified hominin living in North America for the last Five years. It is available at the Sasquatch Genome Project at their website:
http://sasquatchgenomeproject.org/ There is very interesting information there.
As reported in the PRweb Seattle WA at www.seattlepi.com,
The team, led by Dr. Melba S. Ketchum, DVM, of DNA Diagnostics in Nacogdoches, TX, sequenced the three whole nuclear genomes using the next-generation Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform at University of Texas, Southwestern from a tissue sample, a saliva sample, and a blood sample. The three genomes all attained Q30 quality scores above 88 on the Illumina platform, significantly higher than the platform average of 85, indicating highly-purified, single-source DNA with no contamination for each sample. The three Sasquatch genomes align well with one-another and show substantial homology to primate sequences.
NOTE: The Three Q30 Scores of the three Genomes, with over 90 Gb of Raw seqence for each sample (Comprising greater than 30x coverage) were 88.6, 88.4 and 88.7 respectively. The Q30 is the percent of reads that have the statistical probability greaer than 1:1000 of being correctly sequenced (According to Illumina, a pure single source sample would have a Q30 score of 80 or greater with an average of 85. Therefore, not only were the sequences submitted from a single source, but the quality of the sequences were FAR ABOVE the average 85 score on genomes sequenced using the Illumina Next Generation Sequencing Platform at the University of Texas Southwestern DNA Laboratory in Dallas, Texas.
A Further comment was: The high quality of the Genomes can be attributed to the stringent extraction procedures utilized whereby the DNA was repeatedly purified.
One Genome might be considered less than adequate proof of the existence of a new species, but three Nuclear Genomes that possess consistent homology is rather obvious proof that at the very least, three of the creatures that are the souce of the DNA samples that produced these three Genomes must be in actual physical existence. This FACT is incontrovertible scientific proof that a species is extant. It is about as indisputable as a scientific fact can be.
