Quiz About Your Movie Fav's

I was playing this game with someone the other day. “What’s your favorite movie of all time?” But, we ended up saying how close some movies were, but fell short for this reason or that or we liked a movie for one reason but not all the reasons. Then, I got to wondering, do other people have different favorite movies for different situations like I do? So, I’m going to do a little 10- question quiz here.

Feel free to answer them too. You can copy and paste it and remove my answers and put your own if you like.

1. What’s the movie you think is the best of all time—best acting, writing, cinematography, storyline, fulfilling all your needs in a movie, wouldn’t change one thing? My answer: “Jaws”

2. What’s your favorite movie thriller that you watch over and over again when you want something suspenseful? My answer: “Rear Window” (but “Disturbia” and “Joy Ride” for my more modern needs)

3. What movie still has the ability to scare you as an adult and having seen it many times? My answer: “Jeepers Creepers” (but I think the ending sucks big time!)

4. What movie do you watch when you want to get motivated to make change in your life? My answer: “Under the Tuscan Sun”

5. What movie do you wish you could live out? My answer “Stealing Beauty” (I love the idea of living in a commune of free-thinking artists in the countryside—my ultimate dream)

6. What movie scared you the most as a kid? My answer “The Haunting”

7. What movie do you wish you could find on DVD but can’t? My answer “Animals” (a werewolf movie staring Naveen Andrews from “Lost”--heard it's coming out this summer finally)

  1. Ah, Jaws. I never liked going to the movies by myself, but I really wanted to see Jaws so I went by myself. I will never forget my fright when his head popped up out of the water. I think it is the only time I let out a scream at the movies...and the shame was, I had no one to cuddle up to.

  2. Mary, You'll appreciate this one. I went to see Scream 3 alone. No one wanted to see it, but I admittedly found it a secret guilty pleasure to watch the series. I went to the theater during the daytime on my day off and no one was there. I sat down in the center of the theater and relaxed. This was going to be great! Then, a man in a trenchcoat came in. He looked really shifty. In an entirely empty theater, he sat behind me. The movie started. It opens with a scene in a theater where a woman is murdered while watching a horror movie! It was the longest movie of my entire life!

  4. Hey Libby-Girl;
    Yeah, "Jaws" did it for me. I was scared to play in our creek after that and you can't imagine what it was like when we went to our summer home--I wouldn't even sleep on the cabin cruiser tied to the dock! Even swimming pools became suspect. I just love the music, the storyline, the pacing, the characters are amazing, and it's just everything I want in a movie and I wouldn't change one tiny thing. Hey, this week I'm hoping to do a mass healing experiment. I'll probably put the post up about it on Tuesday and do the healing on Thursday. I know you'll probably be needing it. Sending healing energy your way anyways. :-)

    Jeez, I'd so love to have you over for a Wednesday movie day! You are so in line with me! "American Psycho" could be close to being perfection for me, but I so love the characters in "Jaws," that it overrides it for me. "Wrong Turn" is a favorite. Last time I visited relatives in WV, the man at the gas station (not kidding, his jumper said "Billy Bob" said to me "you take a wrong turn?" I guess I didn't look like I belonged (shivers). Amityville is good--I think I burned out on it--saw it too many times. I'm getting that way with "Jeepers Creepers." I think I might just move over to "Dead Silence" next. I've never seen "Vision Quest." Now, I gotta see--get some insight into you. Jurassic-bitchin' choice! The whole time I kept yelling "you're doing it the wrong way!" "The Beast Within," I own that one! It's a classic and totally creep-o-rama. It made me scared of the woods for a time when I was an adolescent. I've heard people talk about "Massacre at Central High." I haven't seen it yet. I have quite a few bootleg ones myself. There's just some movies I had to get even though they didn't come on DVD, like one of my classic childhood fav's "Shattered Silence" (When Michael Calls) a gem of an October Halloween themed made-for-tv movie with a young Michael Douglas. Fast Times--I own that one--adore it! I still have to use the line "I'm a single successful guy" as one of my favorite movie lines. I liked to think I was Phoebe Cates--I definitely had her personality back then, oh hell, still do! "Idle Hands" Haven't seen... "Book of Eli" I haven't heard of. Jeez, now I feel really stupid. You're expanding my knowledge, my friend!

  7. Jaws definitely did a number on me. My brother and I loved to body surf every summer, so you can imagine how scary it was to get into that water after seeing the movie. I was constantly looking around the water and swimming in the ocean was never the same.

  8. Sandra;
    You know, that movie might have had more influence on people's behaviors than any other. I had a mad crush on Quint, myself. I'm such a freak!
