Dead town emerges!

Check this out...too cool for me to describe, let this article and film show you...

If you ever saw the movie "In Dreams" the opening scene is the most amazing--a town that was drowned by a lake and some divers swimming around an old church and graveyard--wonder if this town inspired it? Very cool! I love this stuff!!!

  1. Oh wow. That's some weird, wild stuff. That stayed with me from "In Dreams" too. (Didn't really like the movie, but that component of the flooded town always tripped me out.) Also saw another movie set somewhere in South America about a flooded town like this one...but I can't remember the name. It was just a so so scary movie, but the underwater town played a sort of factor. More just from scenery and history not so much plot. NEAT find!

  2. Yeah. I admit I liked "In Dreams" mostly for the idea of a woman psychically connected to a serial killer. I find that fascinating. I often tap into killer's minds, but I've never stayed in one. That would be weird. I also love the apple farm and the autumn feel of the whole movie. Sometimes, I watch movies just for the atmosphere, like "Cold Creek Manor" (you hate both the hero and heroine) but I the estate reminded me of Aspen Grove, so I fell in love with it. I also thought the bad guy was sexy, but then I'm boy crazy. Hey, didn't "Deliverance" base its movie on them making a last run on a river before they flooded a town? That was a classic.

  7. wait...they couldn't have left a cemetery there, could they? Well, maybe considering it is South America. There are several flooded towns like this in the US, but they remove bodies and most of the buildings, leaving roadways and foundations...my brother went scuba diving in one of these places, he said you could follow the roads and that they had left the wrought iron cemetery fence...creeeepy...but fascinating.

What is the river in China that they are going to dam? Maybe part of the Yangtze? The dam is going to be called the "Three Gorges" - I think. I saw a documentary about it, thousands of towns and villages, and temples even, will be buried under water. At the time of the documnentary, ppl were desperately trying to relocate some of the centuries old temples and statues from the area. Many of the country was in an uproar over the governments decision to do this, but evidentally thousands of people and so much property damage occurs each year due to flooding of this river, and the dam is supposed to change that.ethe

  8. Jennifer, they had a scene like that at the beginning of the movie "In Dreams" where a town was underwater and he divers could dive in and out of the church and graveyard. That was so fascinating and chilling.
