Netflix Streaming: Lesser Known Horror

I filled my queue to get into the Halloween mood and started decorating - here's my over 6-foot tall ghost (above). I chose to try some movies I hadn't heard of. I was pleasantly pleased with most of these!

The Devil's Carnival
Lost souls enter The Devil's Carnival where they are each faced with the sins they committed in life. This one surprised me - a musical that is gorgeous and lush with horror imagery. It's very unsettling and if carnivals are creepy to you - this takes it to a new level.

Werewolf: The Beast Among Us
Set in a 19th century village, a young man studying under a local doctor joins a team of hunters on the trail of a wolf-like creature.

Haunter
A teenager is stuck in a time loop that is not quite the same each time. She must uncover the truth but her actions have consequences for herself and others. I got pretty caught up in this one. It was good.

Haunt
An introvert teen befriends his new neighbor, and together the couple begin to explore the haunted house that his family has just purchased.

The Frozen
After a harrowing snowmobile accident, a young couple is stranded in the woods and must survive while waiting for help to arrive. Events take a turn for the worse after the disappearance of Emma's boyfriend, leaving her on her own not only to battle the elements, but also to elude a mysterious hunter who is tracking her through the forest. This one is especially creepy.

Moon of the Wolf
After several locals are viciously murdered, a Louisiana sheriff starts to suspect he may be dealing with a werewolf.

The Reeds
A weekend boating party turns into a nightmare for a group of young Londoners when they stumble upon a terrifying secret hidden in the reeds.

The Keep
Nazis are forced to turn to a Jewish historian for help in battling the ancient demon they have inadvertently freed from its prison. This one is dark and really moody/creepy.

The Innkeepers
During the final days at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, two employees determined to reveal the hotel's haunted past begin to experience disturbing events as old guests check in for a stay.

  2. The movie version of The Keep was pretty cool. Very atmospheric. I have to say I was very surprised by Haunter - it was good and pretty original.
