Ben Hansen "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files"

Okay, okay, okay. I’ve heard it from ya’all enough times. I do have a slight crush on Ben Hansen from FoF, but I have always had a thing for smart guys with honest curiosity and ethics. Oh, and the premise of his show curls my toes. That combination is great, but what’s even better is Ben in 3D. Yeah! He came to my apartment to meet me on Saturday while he was in town. Now, is that a sweetheart or what?

He is exactly as I knew he would be; intelligent, honest, curious and open-minded. He walks the same tightrope I do between logic and the paranormal. A natural born-leader, eager to study things from all angles, he wishes to see the show become more documentary-like in its depth and investigation. He’d also love to see them handle current hot issues as they happen, although the planning involved in plotting out a show and hitting the road to find new phenomenon as it happens is a nightmare.

Given the limitations of everyone having a finger in the pie that is “Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files” and having to whittle it down to an hour show with commercials, could frustrate anyone who is in the industry for genuine reasons. To be dealing with the “industry” and yet trying to get some real work done and progress as an inquisitive researcher makes him a saint in my book.

I am really pleased to say that we talked for 2 hours easily on so many subjects and he is knowledgeable in every area and with a great sense of humor and a really honest desire to figure out life’s puzzles. I always knew I had found a kindred spirit in Ben, and I did!

He would like to see SyFy put up some of the video that gets cut out of the show including some interviews with witnesses and such. He really appreciates the sharing of information and the seeking of truth. Honestly, if I didn’t know that he was a fan of X-Files while growing up, I would tell this guy, “dude you are eager and curious like Mulder, but with Scully’s brains and skepticism.” I understand that inner war. I can’t imagine waging it in the middle of production companies and cable channels and everything that comes in between.

He has my complete and total respect and I do adore the show and want to see it succeed and evolve. I’m absolutely certain with his hand in it, Ben will give us a long-running show that opens up the urban legends, the viral videos and all the rumors about the paranormal, exposing light on it to see what passes the test of scrutiny.

At one point, I mentioned a case I'd love to see them cover and, in fact, he said he very much wanted to do that location and see if they could make it the entire hour. I was thrilled and my toes started curling. Oh, how I would love to be in on that! Fingers crossed! He has a definite code of ethics, an honest desire to find the fact amongst the faked and I suspect that what Ben sets his mind to, he accomplishes.

Thursdays on SyFy: Do not miss this show! They’re onto something and I personally want to see it keep going and morphing into my favorite show.

Oh and ya'all know I've been promising to give Ben a kiss for the longest time. Yes, I wouldn't be Autumnforest if I didn't just go for what I want! Thanks Ben! (Did I mention he's a really good sport? Very tall? Very handsome? Beautiful blue eyes? Wonderful laugh? Really sweet? Really smart?) Ben, you may now stop blushing.

  1. So that's why you pimp that show. You shameless hussie ;-)

  2. I gotta say, before I knew Ben was a part of it, I was thrilled by the premise. It's a show I always wanted on SyFy. Then, after watching it, I couldn't help doing what I always do, notice the smart and funny nerd in the group. It's a fetish of mine, I must admit, to find men with great minds but wit. That he came in such a package, very nice indeed! I must admit that after talking to him, I realize this guy has a plan and it's the plan I would have put in place if I were on the show. I feel confident he's got it going in every way. Hey, and I wouldn't be Autumnforest if I did't collect a kiss from a man providing me a service I so desire--intelligent paranormal discussion with healthy skepticism.

  3. Glad you and Ben had a great time and finally met in person. I thought about ditching the family and just showing up when he was there, but the fam comes first, lol. Also, I wasn't in the mood for that one hour drive to your place. Maybe next time.... I knew you wouldn't miss your opportunity to give him that kiss, yahoo sis!

  4. He was a good sport. The camera took forever to go off. For a tall gal, I appreciated his height (sigh).

  5. Good for you, I have only met a couple of celebrities and that was in my Treker days.

    I wish him and the show the best.

  6. Barry;
    I think you will be pleasantly surprised where the show is going.

  7. Gabriel;
    I'll be sitting on that one until the ratings get low on here. JK
    The puppy was adorable, but I was seriously more interested in his brains--one smart guy. I could have talked to him for days and not run out of subjects. Men like that are hard to find. The cute ones are easy to find. The fact that he has both--wicked awesome!

  8. Well how cool is that! I love the show too!

  9. Becca;
    Yeah, it's great to see them coming into their own and getting comfortable with it. That last episode was so wicked awesome--want to see more like that!

  10. You met the guy. How could you not get a kiss?

    Glad it went well. :)

  11. Thanks Andrea. Yeah, I was only doing what any other woman would want to do. He's so gosh-darned cute and yes, his baby blues are even prettier in real life. (sigh)

  12. Sounds like you have a lot of memories of this kiss.

  13. He is just a ball of cuteness and adorability (if that's not a word, I'm making it one). Yeah, he was a good sport and just a real nice guy. It's hard to find genuinely smart folks out there making shows and I like that nothing can jade this guy or give him an ego. He's a smart guy, very logic-driven and I can relate to that. His co-workers in the cast--very lucky folks!

  14. ...autumn..."he was just a ball of cuteness"...oh hell, autumnforest, i hope you told him that face-to-face~!!! that expression is TRULY roll-on-the-floor funny!! i love it that you met him!

  15. Libby-Girl;
    I have never been dazzled by celebrity types in the least, it's actually a real turn off if a guy gets a lot of notice, but Ben is the anti-celebrity. Just a regular smart sweet guy doing what he loves and doing it honestly. I didn't call him a ball of cuteness to his face, but I suspect he knows it. He does come on and read my gushing comments to him in the reviews. Hee hee. He's even a great sport about the LAUGH series poking fun at his show. Hell, it just means I love you if I mock you. :-)

  16. autumnforest, i totally agree with you...even if he looks like ben, if he acts like an arrogant, condescending jerk, i wouldnt give him a second look!!

  17. Yeah, Libby-Girl. Very good attitude.

  18. Sounds like you had a good time! I wonder what the odds are Jael will ever come visit me? lol

  19. Jeff;
    Perhaps it was the tank top shots from the blog that drew him in. Hee hee. Maybe you need to start doing something to draw Jael in. How about Fact or Faked boxers? I was just lucky he said he was going to be in town and stalked him with my phone number and made him feel bad if he didn't meet me.

  20. How awesome for you! I bet this is one of the coolest things ever to happen to you. Nice to see good things do happen to nice people. Glad you got to meet him in person and have such a great talk!

  21. It did make my week, but finding intelligent handsome men into the same things, not always that easy--he had to be imported from CA cause AZ is strictly (yawn) nil on those men. Now, it would have been the most awesome thing to ever happen if I'd have gotten that kiss on the lips instead... :-)

  22. how exciting is that! so glad you got to meet him and chat. i would love to sit down with someone like him and just pick his brains.
    you lucky girl!

  23. Sandra;
    Honestly, my greatest dream, just sitting down with a guy with that much intelligence, that well studied in the field, and totally open-minded and with healthy skepticism. I could have talked to him through the night and never run out of subjects. I'm glad he's got this show--great use of his talents, seriously. Well, and not bad on the eyes either.

  24. OMG. You know we all hate you now!!! LOL! You could at least tell him that he needs ME on his show. What is it they say about guys with big brains? Or is it big feet? Oh well, you get where I am going with this and you know where it will end up............hehehehe

  25. Rowan;
    I've been hinting the show needs a mature redheaded woman with a ridiculous sense of humor and lots of personality. Yeah, well, for a tall woman I sure appreciated what a beautiful tall specimen he is. I'm quite impressed with him. Just a very unique breed of man and I sure wish they'd breed more of them!

  26. Wow he came to your house? Lucky gal. I can't help but grin when I watch him. He's so cute. I'm tall too so I love that. I love the show in general, but I must say my focus has zeroed in on him a bit. :)
