There are few subjects more polarizing than Bigfoot.

I'm one of those people that lives for shows like "You Live in a What?" I grew up in an unusual Civil War hospital estate and daydreamed all the time about growing up and building a castle, or maybe converting a church or lighthouse into a home. I didn't want a typical house. When I see videos of eccentric artists with their house decorated in shards of mirrors and mosiacs of tile pieces, I get such joy. To break away from what you're told you should want (nondescript suburban tract house with tan paint), is my greatest dream I want to fulfill while I'm here.

When I was a kid, we had a car someone abandoned in the field. It was an old Renault CV4 and a rusted mess. The parts of the engine had been strewn all over the ground. But, summer of the age of 12, I decided I was going to go get the auto repair manual from the library and try to fix the car up and drive it to California and surf when I turned 16. It was a long hot summer spent in that beaten up car, pretending to drive, daydreaming about the trip. 

To this day, I am a junkyard addict and I coo when I see abandoned cars like some people coo at babies.

One of the Scariest Forests in the World: Hoia Baciu

 

"Destination Truth" had a season 3 opener that got a lot of attention for showcasing something that isn't necessarily a haunting, but a combination of conditions that seem to be prevalent in "weird" places including ghost lights, feeling sick, plants not growing, even poltergeist-like effects.  In the Romania forest of Hoia Baciu, the DT crew got a real wake-up call about the forces on the earth that are yet to be explained.

There is an enormous and remote wilderness area Nahanni National Park in the Northwest Territory of Canada that would make for some amazing hiking and exploring, only it carries a rather dark reputation - as a place where headless bodies show up!

Hiding Deep Inside Suicide Forest

 

Many refer to beautiful but deadly Aokigahara Forest in Japan as "Suicide Forest." In 2003, 105 bodies were found in the forest, exceeding the previous record of 78 in 2002. In 2010, the police recorded more than 200 people having attempted suicide in the forest, of whom 54 completed the act. It's not the #1 place in the world to end one's life, but it is definitely the most mysterious and beautiful location associated with tragedy.

We spend a lot of focus on the tall people of the Americas - ancient giants and Sasquatch, but what of the "little people"  of as I call them, "Littlefoots."

Bigfoot's Art Gallery in the Forest

In keeping with the theme of "hiding in the forest," we find our cryptic buddy, Bigfoot has a hobby - building stick structures and rock stacks. 

Why do Bigfoot do this? 

It's all conjecture and anyone's guess.

My concept is this - we have heard of them keeping their youth near the trees. It is an early practice for them to survive to learn to stay close to a tree. The adults, in supervising the children have been supposedly teaching them games to play with bark to keep them busy. They don't have preschools or daycare, so what do they do? They build a struture to safely house them inside and install a parent to watch and protect. What we might be looking at is "playpens" for baby Bigfoots.
