Abandoned Places Week: Abandoned Amusement Parks

Perhaps the most infamous abandoned amusement park was the one at Priypat, closed down after the evacuation from the Chernobyl disaster. It's bad enough to have a park no longer used, but in the case of this particular park, it was due to open 4 days after the Chernobyl disaster. It was a park built, ready for happy memories, only to be dead, like the promise of tomorrow for the people of that region.

Other parks close for tragic reasons. One of the most depressing ones is perhaps the Six Flags Park at New Orleans, closed after Hurricane Katrina.

Japan has a few abandoned amusement parks. What I would give to have this clown's head!

Imagine seeing this abandoned Guilliver?

Joyland Amusement Park in Wichita, KS, is a good old-fashioned American amusement park that was open for over 50 years.

This park, Dadipark, in Belgium is quite haunting; like visiting your childhood playground when no one any longer uses it and you are a giant trying to revive the memories on the still rides -

Personally, I've always had a dream of owning some old carnival and amusement park rides and items that are rusted and nasty. In my dream world, I have my writer's office in a barn where these things surround me, or fill a garden with vines growing over them.

Lovelock Cave Giant Handprint: Tomorrow Night on Paranormal Geeks Radio

Tomorrow night on Paranormal Geeks Radio we are lucky enough to have MK Davis and Don Monroe returning. They were on our July 16th show live from the mouth of the Lovelock Cave, about to go inside. (find the episode here - first 40 minutes of the show devoted to it). What they found afterwards started the paranormal world abuzz.

I've been lucky enough to share this with MK as it's progressed into a cautious study. We are very lucky to have them on tomorrow night 9 pm EST/8 pm Central/6 pm Pacific.

Here is my original post about the show and my follow-up post about the potential for a huge conflagration in that cave that would have killed the giants.

Be sure to keep tomorrow night open. It's going to be interesting!

Abandoned Places Week: Urban Abandoned

Abandoned urban locations can be some of the most eerie because of the amount of bodies that one occupied theaters, factories, warehouses, and apartment buildings was once a high figure, lots of noise, activity, industry, and now - silence.

Leaving behind such huge edifices reminds us of the pyramids. Will a future civilization realize how industrious we were?

Infrastructures like train tracks and subways become abandoned over time, leaving a mystery to future urban explorers trying to envision people actively utilizing these dark, forgotten places.

Is there anything more creepy than an abandoned amusement park? A place meant to congregate thousands of people each day for screaming fun, exhaustion, thrills, and dares, making awesome memories. Something about a still rusting track that's so tragic.

An abandoned church that once held all the prayer, hopes, and community of a neighborhood looks sadly forlorn, it's purpose no longer being practiced, it's positive energy still lingering.

There are issues for cities with abandoned landscapes. Industrial areas are used to it, but downtown popular centers with abandoned buildings are asking for crime; drug dealing, indigents, places to hide all kinds of secret activities, and danger to citizens climbing around inside and poking into asbestos and falling from loose bannisters. Most cities are good at closing down and boarding up such locations until they can be bought out and plowed under, but more rural locations have nothing to stop the curious.

Geek? Nerd? Dork? Spaz? Which are You?

What are we talking about, here? You mean, there’s slight differences? Let’s look first at the dictionary’s meanings (it never could conceptualize popular culture accurately).

Geek: 1. A computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.) 2. A peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual. 3. A circus performer who bites the heads off of chickens.

Nerd: 1. A stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person. 2. An intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.

Dork: A stupid or ridiculous person; jerk; nerd.

Spaz: 1. A grotesquely awkward person. 2. An eccentric person.

Now, let’s take it down to street talk. Given the propensities you have today, which category would you insert yourself into given the more common concepts (below) of these categories? (BTW, don’t say you aren’t one of them, you read my blog)

Geek: A geek has a singular focus, whether it’s World of Warcraft, LARP’ing, computers, games. If you’re a geek, someone’s saying you have a focus of your weirdness and expertise. Some famous geeks include Bill Gates and Tony Hawk. The character of “Sheldon” on “Big Bang Theory” is a geek (although he cradles the "spaz" category as well).

Nerd:
A nerd can be quite broad and general. A nerd is likely to possess the trivial knowledge that impresses folks. They remember the ratio of those with albino pigmentation to the general population or can speak intelligently in most arenas of topics. A nerd is well read. A nerd is serious about being smart across the board. He has something to say about every subject. If anyone’s listened to interviews with Steve Martin—he’s a nerd. The character of Fraser on TV was a nerd.

Dork: Uncomfortable in social situations and dresses for the wrong decade. He is superficially not quite like everyone else. There’s just something otherworldly (marching to another drummer) about him as if he thinks he’s from another time or place. A couple of celebrity dorks include Johnny Depp and the character of Howard on "Big Bang Theory."

Spaz:
A spaz is like a dork on crack. He is likely to be so eccentric in his appearance that he looks like every day is a SciFi convention. He’s likely to be very klutzy and awkward in his own skin. He has trouble with any conversation and actually scares people off with his ability to draw strangers into a conversation about the technical merits of one cell phone compared to another while they’re standing in the aisle at Best Buy (when you didn’t ask for help). It’s real easy to think a spaz has a mental disorder. I’d put Joaquin Phoenix in the Spaz category as of late. I’d put Mel Gibson there actually because he’s not really lucid during conversations and he’s all over the place, but I think that’s just unmedicated bipolar disorder with mania. Honestly, when people interview her, it's apparent that Renee Zellwegger is a Spaz.

Me:
1. Nerd. (Yeah, this is me. I know a little bit about enough to talk to anyone)
2. Dork. (I am known to sometimes wear something dorky like a big fluffy old robe and thick socks to the pool area or walk around all day with a huge puffy ponytail and my tiny glasses perched on my nose)
3. Geek. (I have my expertises, but not extreme)
4. Spaz. (My friends might argue this because they call me a spaz, but I do still manage to make perfectly normal social interactions with people without scaring them off or making them shake their heads, however physically, I'm energetically spastic).

So, what are y'all?

Abandoned Places Week: Towns That Died

When we think of abandoned towns, we consider steel factories and mining, but towns go defunct for lots of reasons including a dream getaway spot that goes bankrupt, a town built around an industry that goes under, natural disasters like floods when building dams or earthquakes and nuclear disasters.

The town of Desert Center in California was begun by a man with high hopes for the desert location between LA and Phoenix. Through a series of ambitious endeavors, including a gas station, school, diner, and 100 palm trees erected, the town went under, the man passed on and the town disintegrated. My son and went photographed it several years ago and these were the remains -

There are ghost towns and then there are ones that went under only years to decades ago. And, many still have residents that cling to the area, but others have had them rush from the land, like in Centralia, Pennsylvania.  A fire began in the mines under the town and has continued to burn since 1962, oozing out unhealthy smoke. The residents were moved, a few diehards stayed behind, but the fire continues and will smolder for another 250 years possibly. The video game and movie "Silent Hill" were inspired by this sad scenario -

The Quabbin Reservoir is a good example of flooded towns. The state of Massachusetts created its greatest man-made body of water by flooding a region including a few towns. In the 1930s they flooded several towns to create the reservoir. In an eerie way even after the buildings were destroyed underwater, the cellars remained and the roadways along the water's edge that used to lead into the towns.

The town of Vulture Mines was abandoned when the gold diggers took off for better places. It left an amazing partially intact town.

This town (below) I filmed before it was torn down along I-10 north of Tucson.

There are thousands of towns that went under such as the infamous Pripyat that was evacuated following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.  The photographer Gerd Ludwig did a very extensive photo essay of the abandoned sites. Some towns, like China's Ordos. The town was built for a million people and abandoned within 5 years of building it. They built amazing homes, apartments, business centers, and it went bust in this hopeful mining town.

The island of Hashima, Japan is an abandoned mining island. It has sat for decades and finally they are considering opening it up to Urbex folks. Now, that's my idea of urban exploration!

The wildest thing about abandoned cities is just the concept that all those people, all those businesses, all that history and cemeteries, families who grew up there, all go away. It's very "Omega Man" and totally creepy. Julie and I hope to explore and document some abandoned cities for yet another abandoned places books based on abandoned cities. Perhaps a few of them in this posting will be included.

Dropa Stones and Roswell: My Theory

This find has intrigued me for years and I thought I’d share the story, in case you haven’t heard of the Dropa Stones.

From the paranormal.about.com site:

In 1938, an archeological expedition led by Dr. Chi Pu Tei into the Baian-Kara-Ula mountains of China made an astonishing discovery in some caves that had apparently been occupied by some ancient culture. Buried in the dust of ages on the cave floor were hundreds of stone disks. Measuring about nine inches in diameter, each had a circle cut into the center and was etched with a spiral groove, making it look for all the world like some ancient phonograph record some 10,000 to 12,000 years old. The spiral groove, it turns out, is actually composed of tiny hieroglyphics that tell the incredible story of spaceships from some distant world that crash-landed in the mountains. The ships were piloted by people who called themselves the Dropa, and the remains of whose descendants, possibly, were found in the cave.

Dr. Tsum Um Nui felt the smooth face of the disk with the palm of his hand. "What could this disk possibly be?" he wondered. He knew of its recent history; how it was discovered in 1938 by a Chinese archaeologist in a cave high in the Himalayans, along with 715 similar disks; how buried nearby were skeletons of a strange tribe of people averaging only a little over four feet high; how it was found that each disk was inscribed with a tiny groove that spiraled around its face, and that the groove turned out to be an unknown hieroglyphic. He also knew how the disks, as remarkable as they were, had been simply labeled along with other finds of the expedition and stored away at Beijing University for 20 years. During that time, others had attempted to decipher the strange inscriptions, but without success. Perhaps now, in 1962, he could. The professor painstakingly transcribed the characters from the disk to paper. The writing was so small he had to use a magnifying glass to see it clearly. But the stones were old -- perhaps 12,000 years old, it was estimated -- and much of the hieroglyphics were difficult to make out or had been worn away by time and the elements. As he worked, many questions nagged the professor. How did these primitive people fashion these precise stones? How did they manage the almost microscopic writing? Who were they and what was the purpose of these hundreds of stones? Once the characters were transcribed, Dr. Tsum Um Nui began the arduous task of trying to decode its message. Eventually, he began to make progress. A word emerged. Then another. A phrase became understandable, then an entire sentence. He had broken the code. He discerned that the messages on the stones were written by a people who called themselves the Dropa. But what they were saying to him 12,000 years later made no sense. What the Dropa had written must have been one of their cultural myths, or was part of some prehistoric religious ceremony. Or was it? When he had completed the translation as much as he could, the professor sat back in his chair in disbelief. The story the Dropa related was nothing short of astounding. How would his colleagues react? How might the world react if this story was true? The professor wrote up a paper on his findings and presented it to the university for publication. Their reaction was swift and emphatic: the paper would not be published. The Academy of Prehistory expressly forbade him to publish or even speak of his findings. The world, the academy decided, should not know about the Dropa and their fateful journey to Earth.

Dr. Tsum Um Nui's findings were eventually published, however. Just two years later, he published the paper entitled, "The Grooved Script Concerning Spaceships Which, as Recorded on the Discs, Landed on Earth 12,000 Years Ago." By some accounts, the academy relented and gave permission to the professor to publish the paper, and by other accounts he published it despite the official ban. In either case, his translation and his theory were met with ridicule by the archaeology establishment. The translation was just too shattering to be taken at face value or as an historical account. It just could not be true. It would change everything we know about our history and humankind's place in the universe.

What the Stones Reveal

The Dropa disks tell the story of a space probe from a distant planet that crash-landed in the Baian-Kara-Ula mountains of the Himalayas. The occupants of the spacecraft -- the Dropa -- found refuge in the caves of the mountains. Despite their peaceful intentions, the Dropa were misunderstood by members of the Ham tribe who were occupying neighboring caves and who hunted down the aliens and even killed some of them. A translation of one of the passages says: "The Dropa came down from the clouds in their aircraft. Our men, women, and children hid in the caves ten times before sunrise. When at last they understood the sign language of the Dropa, they realized that the newcomers had peaceful intentions...."

The stones go on to say how the Dropa were unable to repair their disabled spacecraft and could not return to their home planet, and so were stranded on Earth. If that's true, have their descendents survived?

Today, the isolated area is inhabited by two tribes of people who, in fact, call themselves the Dropa and the Han. Anthropologists have been unable to categorize either tribe into any other known race; they are neither Chinese nor Tibetan. Both tribes are of pygmy stature, adults measuring between 3-foot-6 and 4-foot-7 with an average height of 4-foot-2, and body weights of 38 to 52 pounds. They are yellow-skinned with thin bodies and disproportionately large heads, corresponding to the skeletal remains found in the caves in 1938. They have sparse hair on their bodies and have large eyes that are not Asian in aspect, but have pale blue irises.

Supposedly, there also is an ancient Chinese tale that might bear-out the Dropa's claims. The tale relates the story of a small, slender, yellow-skinned people who descended to the Earth from the clouds, and who were shunned by everyone because of their ugliness.

Strange Properties

In 1968, the Dropa stones came to the attention of W. Saitsew, a Russian scientist who re-published the findings of Tsum Um Nui and conducted tests on the disks that revealed some very peculiar properties. Physically, the granite stones contained high concentrations of cobalt and other metals -- a very hard stone indeed that would have made it difficult for the primitive people to carve the lettering, especially with such minute characters. When testing a disk with an oscillograph, a surprising oscillation rhythm was recorded as if, the scientists said, they had once been electrically charged or had functioned as electrical conductors.

Whatever their true nature, origin, or meaning, the Dropa stones present an intriguing puzzle for archaeologists and anthropologists. Were the Dropa truly visitors from some distant planet, or is their story merely a creation myth imagined by a primitive culture? If the latter is true, it adds one more such "myth" to the large number of stories from ancient cultures that claim their descendents came to Earth from the heavens. And if the former is true, the Dropa stones could represent the first recorded visit of an alien civilization to our planet. For now, the Dropa stones remain unexplained.

Descendants?

Photo above: Dzopas/Dropas Rulers: taken by Dr. Karyl Robin-Evans during his 1947 expedition. Shows the Dzopa ruling couple Hueypah-La (4 ft. tall) and Veez-La (3 ft. 4 in. tall)

Are there descendants of the Dropa still living?

By some stretch of the imagination, if we were able to interbreed with a race of supposed aliens, what are the chances we would genetically be able to procreate? Sure, we can produce a Liger (lion/tiger) but it can’t produce offspring—it’s sterile. But, considering this tribe was reported as 3-foot tall extraterrestrials, then it would be assumed that they interbred amongst themselves. You’d then have to guess there were enough original beings to breed for 12,000 years. Putting aside my skeptical and logical nature, I admit I’m also equally open to lots of explanations and supposition. Here’s what I’ve found out about the supposed descendants:

In November 1995, the Associated Press (AP) stated that some 120 “dwarfish beings” had been discovered in Sichuan Province, in a so-called “Village of the Dwarfs”. (Some skeptics cast doubt on the AP account, though it is easily verifiable. In fact, on 9 November 1995, the German publication Bild ran a report titled “Das Dorf der Zwerge – Umweltgifte schuld?” [“The Village of the Dwarfs – environmental pollution to blame?”] about the discovery.) The tallest adult in this village was three foot 10 inches (1.0 m 15 cm) tall; the smallest was two foot one inch (63.5 cm).

The location of the village is only a few hundred kilometers from the Baian-Kara-Ula mountain range. However, despite China’s becoming more open, this entire area including the village remains off limits to foreigners.

Hartwig Hausdorf, who has been on the track of the Dropa since at least the early 1990s, ponders whether in recent years the Dropa’s descendants might have abandoned the mountains and settled in the nearby lowlands— where they were “discovered” in 1995.

According to a report in Bild on 27 January 1997, a Chinese ethnologist claimed that the tribe’s dwarfism was due to a high concentration of mercury in the soil, which had poisoned their drinking water for several generations. The claim did not go unchallenged, however. Dr Norbert Felgenhauer of the Munich Institute for Toxicology argued that this theory is nonsense. He stated that such poisoning would result in immediate death, not stunted growth, and introduced as evidence the case of the Japanese town of Minamata, where in the 1960s many inhabitants died from mercury poisoning. He also noted that mercury was unable to change human DNA and hence could not be held responsible for causing an hereditary trait—one that was clearly apparent in this tribe.

Also reported: The isolated area is inhabited by two tribes of people who, in fact, call themselves the Dropa and the Han. Anthropologists have been unable to categorize either tribe into any other known race; they are neither Chinese nor Tibetan. Both tribes are of pygmy stature, and body weights of 38 to 52 pounds (14-19 kg). They are yellow-skinned with thin bodies and disproportionately large heads, corresponding to the skeletal remains found in the caves in 1938. They have sparse hair on their bodies and have large eyes that are not Asian in aspect, but have striking pale blue irises."

As if these dramatic reports aren’t enough, around the year 2000, crystal skulls were found in some caves in remote mountains. It took 2-years to retrieve 22 ancient crystal skulls, collectively known as THE BEIJING SKULLS, which possibly are linked to the Dropa. Three small Dropa disks have been recovered from the same cave where the crystal skulls were found.

The discoverer who is anonymous at this date states: "I am of the opinion now that the crystal skulls were used by the Dropa as radio transmitters/receivers to communicate with their home base, which could be many light years away from this planet, as well as to communicate with their mates who had also landed elsewhere on this planet. The stone disks were the ancient computer disks to record and save messages sent or received. The skull and the stone disk must work together to be effective just like our computers today. Without software our computer today is a dead machine. From the spiritual angle the skull and the stone disk will open up a new portal which will enhance the working of spiritualists. This is an insight I have received from my skulls."

Whether these reported crystal skulls were actually found or not is vague. It seems a bit coincidental that crystal skulls, something associated mostly with the Americas, were found there. It is a questionable mix of cultural influences. It’s like throwing everything paranormal into one soup pot. Why not just report a Bigfoot skeleton or skeletal remains of a Loch Ness Monster? This crystal skull report to me does sound like hokum, but I do believe the Dropa stones were found. They’ve been viewed and photographed extensively. What exactly they contained and the context in which they were found is secretive. It’s a shame such an amazing find was done in China. It’s unlikely the secrets of it will be exposed to the world any time soon. For now, we can only suppose what they were and what they meant.

MY THEORY:  This is rather interesting because of the specific date - 12,000 years. This is the supposed amount of time the aliens have been studying Earth according to EBE1 a survivor of Roswell. And, interestingly, look at the Dropa stone hieroglyphics and the ones from the I-Beam at Roswell...

Notice the boomerang shape? The mushroom shape? The bird-like shape? Hmmmmmmm

This is my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Humanoids Among Us: The Tallman

Known as The Tallman, Slenderman, and The Hatman, this urban legend is reported to be very tall, very slender, and wearing a suit and having a pale gaunt face. Sounds kind of like the Tall Man in "Phantasm."

The story goes that his arms can twist and bend and reach long distances, scratching on windows with talon-like fingers. Like shadow people, he's often found in wooded areas, hiding among trees. He is also seen sneaking down hallways and showing up in homes.

The explanation for where he comes from involves a theory that he was tortured. He would stand over your bed and ask you a question. If you answered him correctly, he would just break your limbs, but if you answered wrong, he would pull your heart out through your throat. This gives the appearance of having aspects adopted from Germanic and Romanian stories that were used as cautionary tales for citizens wandering the lonely woodland paths.

Interestingly, after its popularization on the Internet, many people jumped on the bandwagon claiming extraordinary encounters and the fear and excitement rose. There is something elemental in this legend that strikes a note for people and keeps it a growing part of paranormal beliefs.

I have to wonder about the Tallman and his relationship to the hat-wearing shadow person many report. Even though the majority of shadow people are small, perhaps 3-4 feet tall, there are also tall, slender, hat-wearing ones reported.

Until I hear some compelling stories of the Tall Man, I'm keeping it in the category of cautionary tale/urban legend.

Scariest Deep Sea Creatures

You know that monster in the closet? In your child mind, it was whatever is most horrifying. Sometimes, it was just made of darkness and massive size but vague features.

In the sea, there are fish we love to eat, dolphins we love to admire, and whales with all their majesty, but you go a bit deeper and conditions change and creatures take on some very macabre, beautiful and horrifying attributes. They are like all the creatures in our closet and under our bed defined.

Here's just some of the wonders (and horrors) from the sea's closet:

Humanoids Among Us: Is Obama A Reptilian?

The reptilians/reptoids are a popularly believed alien that is reptilian, but can manifest itself as a human, gaining political power in hopes of ruling our world. The original concept was made popular by David Icke, a conspiracy theorist, who said they were from the Alpha Draconis star system. Interestingly, he says they are blood-sucking, 7-12 feet tall and hiding in underground bases. This would all seem rather ludicrous until you hear accounts of people running into lizard people in caves underground, working together like some kind of worker force. Here is a most compelling story at Lon's Phantoms and Monster site (I believe to be the best archivist site for people who experience the paranormal).

Some refer to them as the "illuminati" or a group that is small but working to take over all important roles in the world of government and corporations, working to make a new world order. These terms have become interchangeable and the concepts the same - someone has an agenda for our world - someone who is not a native.

Some even say that the President is a reptilian and a few even believe they have found evidence of those around him being reptilians, like in this video of a supposed reptilian body guard -

Let's just plug in the characteristics and see how they fit -
1. Is the person in a position of power?
2. Is the person Caucasian?
3. Does the person like odd music like old pop music?

Here's some more help -

Disclose.tv - DAVID ICKE HOW TO IDENTIFY A REPTILIAN.

First, you'd have to determine you believe the concept which has a whole lot of holes in the theory, but given the odd decisions and priorities of our present leader and those around him, it would seem they are preparing for some kind of battle from the citizens and is trying to assimilate us. It might just be that these absolutely horrifying decisions being made need an explanation and for conspiracy folks, it's the reptilian one, for UFO folks, it's preparation for an alien takeover that was set for a particular date, and for others it is simply a terribly inexperienced and confused man in office, in way over his head.

Admittedly Icke's explanation is pretty interesting (below) and his site is pretty cool too -

Aura Photography

Aura photos (Kirlian Photography) are a fun and interesting thing to have done. When I did this photo to check my aura, I told the photographer, "I get my psychic info from this spot in space. I'm gonna look it and see what shows up in the photo." She laughed. The photo developed as we waited. Her face went white. "What does that mean?" I asked her. "White is a spirit guide, and the pinkish hue says that this is a loving spirit guide you are channeling.  A female energy."

Another time, I told her, "I have a lot of dead people that hang around, can I bring them up in the pic?" She nodded dumbly. The photo had tons of white lights around me, like a group of a dozen or so faces.

So what is Kirlian photography? You sit down, put your hands on two metal plates shaped like hands. Then, the pic is taken with a Polaroid and it supposed to show the electrical coronal discharges of your body.  There is much dispute about the authenticity of aura photography, but those who believe in Qi (energy), take this very seriously. I have found that, in having perhaps a dozen aura photos in my life, the reads of the colors around me were dead on 100% of the time to what was happening at that time. I even tried a few experiments to focus my mind and emotions to control the outcome and was able to predict the colors that would show.

Aura colors include some of these and their meanings:
Red:  Activity, extroversion, movement, vitality, healthy, hands-on healer
Light Red:  Joy, passion, sensitivity, femininity, love
Pink:  Sensitivity, emotionality, femininity, longing, softness
Dark Red:  Vigor, willpower, masculinity, leadership, courage, malice, wrath
Orange:  Active intelligence, self confidence, joy, happiness, warmth
Gold:  Transformation, dynamic energy, discipline, ego
Yellow:  Intellect and mind, organized, discipline
Green:  love, growth, change, nature, neutrality
Blue:  Introversion, solitude, truth, wisdom, inner peace
Light blue:  Devotion to ideals, truth, reserve
Indigo:  Healing ability, kindness, integrity
Turquoise:  Loving, healing heart, generosity, teacher
Lavender:  Mysticism, magic, psychic abilities
Violet:  Intuitive, artistic, creative, mysterious
Magenta:  Spiritually perceptive
White:  Spirituality, open to channel

SIDES:  As well, if you look at the right side of the photo as you stare at it, that area of the photo shows what is entering your life. The left side of the photo shows what is exiting your life.

SHAPE:  If an aura is tight and compact, it can be a sign of protection or self control. Psychics often tuck their aura in to protect themselves, large expansive fluffy ones are signs of someone sending out energy and can show how you attract or put off others, depending on that type of energy.

When you look at that aura photo above, you find someone allowing in channeling, spirituality, healing and teaching and very expansive, putting out all those energies which makes sense because at the time, I was doing a lot of remote healing work on people and I found that those around me often started talking about their physical and emotional issues, even when I didn't know them well at all. They sensed a comfort from me. Notice the indigo fluff around the periphery--highly spiritual.

In this 2001 aura photo, I told her that my brother died a couple weeks ago and I felt him over my right shoulder all the time. She took the picture and her hand trembled a bit when she handed it to me to see.  White spirit energy and that pink in the left side of the photo was the love exiting. Once again, fluffy indigo periphery which is the common for me and might explain why people feel particularly comfortable around me because the basis of my soul is a comforting spiritual place of acceptance.

I can't tell you that aura photography works or not, but I have found the process of checking myself at stressful, transitional, and uncertain times of my life, as well as joyful ones, to be a validation. The process of someone reading the colors and giving an overview is highly therapeutic. I have considered myself buying a Kirlian camera and doing this service for people since it's a rather hard and rare thing to find and as psychic reads go, me reading something spatially oriented like this and being highly gifted in spatial and spatially synesthetic, and a healer, this is probably the best use of my skills in a way that would help people get perspectives on their lives and their process.

Humanoids Among Us: Black-Eyed Children

Shadow people, the Tall Man, and black-eyed children; all more modern phenomena reported.

The legend of the black-eyed children almost sounds like a variation of the vampire scenario. The children arrive at your doorstep and ask to use the phone or if they can come inside for protection. They give you a weird instinctive concern and then you realize their eyes have no whites, all black.

The phenomena found its ground in the 1990s, so it's a very new legend. With today's internet capabilities of growing urban legends overnight, it's not unusual to see new unexplained legends being born. The problem is, do we have any real proof of black-eyed children or just a lot of stories of "someone in Illinois" or "it happened a grandmother in New England" and other such vagaries?

Descriptions of encounters are rather disturbing. It's human nature to help a child in distress, but one witness who saw one asking an elderly woman for something in a parking lot, were chilling. His skin was very pale, his hair very dark, his posture stiff, and circles under his eyes and when he stared at the witness, his eyes were pure black with no whites. His stare was haunting and very upsetting.

They are described by some witnesses to not elicit white clouds of air when breathing in the cold, to give off a feeling that those around them instinctively feel unsettled and feelings of doom.

Interestingly, the reaction to black-eyed children is much like that of shadow people. Is there a relationship? Someone from another dimension or realm putting on the cloak of being human to acquire something necessary? If they are vampires and do need blood, there are certainly no reports of these children succeeding.

One witness described one of these little black-eyed girls at his doorstep in a miniskirt and spaghetti strap top in 30-below snow. He thought she might be in distress and need help. Then, he wondered if she was on drugs, being out in the cold without shivering. Then, he noticed she had no cold breath.  No signs of inhaling in and out.

Another man said he stood outside to smoke each evening and saw a boy that tried doorknobs and went from building to building. He approached him one night and asked he buzz him through the gate. The man saw the child had no whites of his eyes. Feeling a sudden terror, the man went inside and locked the door and cowered.

The reaction to the black-eyed children is an elemental fear. It reminds me of how a dog reacts when he approached a toy dog that barks and moves around. He barks, cowers away, and looks around in fear. Humans apparently have this same "it's not right" mechanism inside to protect themselves from such unnaturals.

Let's try to explain this - the eyes could be part of a condition called alkaptonuria that can cause dark spots in the sclera (whites of the eye) but that shows up as spots and not entire sclera. Everything has motives, so let's talk about these obsidian-eyed demons. What is it they want? They approach people, so they must want an encounter with that person. They ask to be let inside, so they must want to be in private with that person. Before people even see the black eyes, they get a feeling from the kid that something is off, not quite right - sort of like what people report for Men In Black.

I would want to know more about these children, like if they are seen in daylight, if anyone has had a harmful encounter, if they seek blood or something else. What is their goal? What is their purposes? Why would they go to so much bother to be in human form and speak without making the eyes human looking or the breath present? Is this a hallucination or are they actually physically there? Did that one child leave footprints in the snow? Can you see them in mirrors? There aren't an exceptional lot of accounts and most people that do encounter them rush away and so don't take the time to figure out their motives.

Do black-eyed children exist? I think the fact they showed up so recently screams of urban legend to me. I don't think a new "species" of unexplained pops out of nowhere. But, it definitely is worth gathering reports and looking for commonalities to see if people are having legitimate encounters or if this is a perpetuated fear, like seeing a child acting weird and imagining they had no whites to their eyes because of being influenced by the legends of black-eyed children. We tend to use beliefs to feed our explanations.

There is the possibility that, like shadow people, these newly reported beings are newly reported for a very real reason -

My theory:  Even more unsettling is this -People who run into shadow people (a fairly newer reported phenomena the past few decades) said that they saw them out of the corner of their eye, turned and then looked them straight on. They had a feeling of unease and gloom and doom in their presence and when the shadow person saw them, it rushed away. They apparently are being seen now, something has changed about us to be able to perceive them when they thought they were hidden. What if these shadow people (reported to be 3-4 feet tall) are really donning child human identities to hide among us with less chance of being realized as an outsider? These black-eyed children that come with the same feeling of gloom and doom and take on a short identity (children) may be the giveaway. What if the black eyes are really just the part of the shadow person that shows through the orifices of the eyes sockets as pure black? The human form is simply a cloak atop of them and, with them being small, their form takes on a child's appearance to best be out in the open. The dark-eyed children seem to be doing what shadow people were doing before they were detected; poking around parks and cemeteries, in hospitals and homes, perhaps curiously studying humans and nature. With the risk of being seen now, they simply adapted a new way of being among us....

On a more earthly note - here's the black-eyed children mirror I made for under $50. Enjoy! I actually like having them stare at me across the room, but then I live to be unsettled.
