Outdoor Movies - Best Horror Movies for Backyard Projection

There is nothing better on a cool autumn night than sitting outdoors in a comfy chair and watching a movie with a blanket across your lap. There is no better film to watch in the dark outdoors than movies that make you study the darkness around you as it seems as if they could come to life in your own backyard.

Here's some great films to watch projected on a chilly evening -

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
Black and white zombie movie - a lonely farmhouse, undead closing in, and strangers try to stave them off. A nighttime isolated vibe.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT
College students head into the woods of Maryland to do a documentary on a legend of an evil witch. They run into more than they imagined in the woods, something evil, trapping them. A very autumnal, outdoorsy, camping vibe.

THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK
Documentary with reenactments of a Bigfoot in the Deep South. A stalker in the woods vibe.

FRIDAY THE 13TH
Counselors show up to get ready for summer camp kids to arrive, only they find that in the isolated forest near the beautiful Crystal Lake, there is a killer. This has a isolated forest vibe.

THE FINAL TERROR
Many stars in this one, this film went under the radar, but it's an excellent example of stalker in the woods. A bunch of young adults go to volunteer work at a forest stream only to encounter a killer in the woods. This one has a great camping out, stalker vibe.

DAY OF THE ANIMALS
This made-for-tv movie with big-named stars involves a hiking and camping event in the mountains at the same time as the ozone layer thins and the animals begin to attack. This one has a hiking/camping/killer animal vibe.

There are tons of great films to project at night, but I admit that these ones above are my favorites as they give you that campfire tales, afraid to have your back to the darkness feeling.

If you have children, you might consider films like "Harry and the Hendersons," or "Watcher in the Woods" (circa 1970s)

Enjoy!

Autumn Nibbles and Wine

Things slow down and get cozy in autumn. Consider having some friends over for wine and a nibble platter.  Here's some ideal ideas for what to serve -

Energy, Frequency, Vibration: Sound is the Clue to the Universe

Frequencies are a catalyst. They ignite so many aspects of our world. Science is recognizing the power of sound. It wasn't just horns and people yelling bringing down the Walls of Jericho - it was the natural resonance that creates shattering, like glass when the proper frequency creates vibration.

Supposed Historic Photos of Cryptids

Ah, the old photos that pop up online looking blac and white and yellowed with age. They can seem quite authentic and the sad part is, among a large collection of various cryptids supposedly filmed in the historic past, one or two might be genuine, but we will never know because of the wonders of Photoshop and AI.

Things To Do In October - LOTS!

It's hard to justify staying indoors when October weather comes. We are so fried from the summer and seeking the deep shadows and chill air of evenings outdoors.

The Montana Vortex

A vortex is believed to be location on Earth where either Earth's energies escape or energy enters the Earth.

When You Don't Use Your Fireplace: Decorating an Unused Fireplace Year-Round

You have a fireplace. Maybe it's just not cold enough in the off season, you don't like smoke and having to burn through firewood, or you have small children. Rather than remove the fireplace (expensive), think about using it as a place to focus attention for whatever season it is.

Helltown Ohio: Creepiest Abandoned Town

A perfectly once-pleasant town called Boston, Ohio had no idea what its future held. Today, the abandoned area is referred to as "Helltown" and with good reason!

Accidental Mummies

Mummies happen sometimes by accident. They aren't prepared, they simply had the right conditions to dehydrate over time in arid places. Some of these mummies are modern-day which makes them even more chilling as they are our peers.

Soft Lighting Options to Relax at Night

There is nothing like coming home when it's dark in the fall and winter and putting on a transitional light instead of the stark ceiling lights and bright lamps. Just transitioning yourself from harsh artificial lighting to a warm glow is romantic and soothing. Here's some ways to put your atmosphere on -

Significant Ancient Giant Find Goes Under the Radar!

(giant head protected inside gourd for transport)

In the 1930s, explorer Paxson Hayes, searched a cave near the canyon of Barrano de Cobre in Northern Mexico. Within the cave, he found 34 mummified men and women, all with blonde hair. All of them also had tall heights between 7 and 8 feet.
