Spooklight on South Mountain

Researcher Dennis Guern and I continue to study odd lights that show up on South Mountain in Phoenix.

Many know this location as the infamous Phoenix Lights site. Well, these lights are on the mountain and not atop of it. Some can be explainable, perhaps it's a mountain bike or someone hoofing it around at night. It is a huge municipal park, but on the eastern side facing Ahwatukee, there are no roads, no cars, nothing but a few brave folks who decide to hit it at night. They are few and far between.

This one night we witnessed a light in a place that has no paths to it. The light was very bright and steady. We could see the outline of the mountain above it and it was about 3/4 of the way up. The light did not climb up the mountain or down. 

What struck our attention was a strange dance of light around the main light, where sometimes one or two blue smaller lights would shoot off, a strange aura surrounded it, the color shifting sometimes to red, pink, blue, purple, green, yellow....

There was no sound associated. I captured it with my cell, but then pulled out my quality camera and then my videocamera with IR. 

Here's a video that compiles what we found. We still cannot explain it and it was amazing to watch with our eyes. 

The Odd Light on South Mountain Continues...

Well, managed to pinpoint the spot the light comes from - always the same place. No paths, no hiking areas up the rocky area. If someone keeps going there at night and shining the light, they are not only not leaving a path, but they are doing it in complete darkness as the light does not climb the mountain. It simply turns on there in this desert preserve/largest municipal park in America.

South Mountain - Odd Lights!

The light flickered. Researcher Dennis Guern and I had seen this light up there before. Nothing there. Not near hiking paths. But its quality was odd, seeming to go out, then come back on a few flashes, and there was also a green light that seemed to accompany it.
