Water as a Paranormal Conduit

In 2009, when I worked on my "Haunted Formula" by studying the qualities of 50 well documented haunted locations in the US, I found a very high incidence of them being near streams, rivers, ocean, or other moving water. In fact, 41 of the 50 sites were near moving water.

The very haunted home I grew up in ("Growing Up With Ghosts" by Sharon Day), was originally called the "Springfield" in the 1700s when it was built because it was built over a running underground stream which actually fed us the water for our home. As well, in front of the house was a running stream, the "Pohick," a tributary of the Potomac.

Let's discuss what happens when water moves - 

Negative Ions

Source:  Ions are molecules that have gained or lost an electrical charge.  They are created in nature as air molecules break apart due to sunlight,radiation, and moving air and water. You may have experienced the power of negative ions when you last set foot on the beach or walked beneath a waterfall. While part of the euphoria is simply being around these wondrous settings and away from the normal pressures of home and work, the air circulating in the mountains and the beach is said to contain tens of thousands of negative ions -- Much more than the average home or office building, which contain dozens or hundreds, and many register a flat zero.

"The action of the pounding surf creates negative air ions and we also see it immediately after spring thunderstorms when people report lightened moods," says ion researcher Michael Terman, PhD, of Columbia University in New York.


In fact, Columbia University studies of people with winter and chronic depression show that negative ion generators relieve depression as much as antidepressants. "The best part is that there are relatively no side effects, but we still need to figure out appropriate doses and which people it works best on," he says .

River Versus Waterfall 

Source:  In 1994, Reiter measured, in addition to sea spray, ions produced by waterfalls. He found that particles from sea spray smaller than 200 nm carried a net positive charge whereas similar particles from waterfalls were negatively charged. He attributes the difference in polarity to the different chemical compositions of river and sea water. Reiter also performed some tests with water containing different chemical impurities, and found that the polarity indeed depended on the suspended material: added sodium chloride produced positive particles whereas pure water and Mediterranean sea water produced negative ions.

Pineal Gland

Here's where all this gets quite sexy. The pineal gland is in the brain and is often referred to as the "third eye" for psychics. It is affected by light photons and triggers sleep and energy. If you have seasonal affective disorder, it is likely your pineal gland is not getting proper light. The pineal gland gets its light triggers from the eyes and when things get dark, it knows it is time to release melatonin hormone for sleep. This is why if you watch TV and read by light at nighttime, it can take a while to fall asleep once you turn out the lights. 

If the pineal gland is the active gland in the brain when we are descending and ascending from sleep, the very time we see spirits or aliens or get psychic visions, then what happens if negatively charged ions produced by moving water affect our gland? 

Source:  Drs. M. Terman and J.S. Terman at Columbia University studied the effect of negative ions onseasonal affective disorder (SAD). They concluded that negative ions promote alpha brain waves and increase brain wave amplitude, which translates to a higher awareness level. Negative ion induced alpha brain waves were found to spread evenly across the right and left brain hemispheres. All of this creates an overall calming effect and will help us enter sleep rapidly and reach the REM (rapid eye movement) state more quickly.

Negative ions can affect the levels of serotonin, a hormone which is manufactured in our brains. It is a neurotransmitter involved in the transmission of nerve impulses. Serotonin helps maintain a “happy feeling” and helps keep our moods under control by helping us to sleep.

My Conclusion

Here's my theory on running water and haunted locations: 

Locations are haunted, but the ones that we humans can detect with our limited sensory resources need a bit of amplification. We go to a haunted location near running water, i.e. waterfalls, stream, ocean crashing, and the negatively charged ions enter through our nose, stimulating the pineal gland for not only "feel good energizing" sensations, but also the stimulation of our "third eye" and ability to perceive the haunting. We are visited by alien greys or dead relatives, or have prophetic dreams going in and out of sleep, controlled by the pineal glands and hormonal release. Our psychic "seat" in the brain is this hormonally governing gland. Therefore, running water near a haunted location may not make it more haunted, it just may make us better tools to register it. 

One way we might test this is to put off negative ions in a location while doing a ghost hunt and pick up how many participants perceive a haunting. 


There is no doubt that the air is charged by the movement of water, that the atmospheric changes can affect the human mind and hormones. This being said, it would seem that the effects are on the living and not necessarily the dead. It is within the human that we find the receiver that perceives hauntings. No matter how we try to capture evidence on audio and video, we ultimately get our best evidence from the perceptions of the living in the site. 



Air purifiers work to put off negative ions, as do salt lamps. In fact, think of a lighthouse; a circular building with salt air creating salt buildup on the surfaces, a power generator at the top and imagine what an amazing negative ion generator that is!

Ghosts, Cryptids, and Afterlife: Proof We Are Living in a Matrix?

In the movie "The Matrix," the popular SciFi movie asked the question; what if what we thought was reality was orchestrated so we didn't realize what the real-reality was?

This concept is moving from science fiction to science with lots of new theories about the nature of our universe.

The Simulation Hypothesis is a long-held philosophical concept that reality is an illusion. 

Source: The 'cosmic ray test' was developed by Silas Beane, a nuclear physicist at the University of Washington and involves scientists building up a simulation of space using a lattice or grid...Cosmic rays are the fastest particles that exist and originate in far-flung galaxies. They always arrive at Earth with a specific maximum energy of 1020 electron volts.
If there is a specific maximum energy for particles then this gives rise to the idea that energy levels are defined, specific and constrained by an outside force...Thus, according to the research, if the energy levels of particles could be simulated, so too could the rest of the universe.

There are HUGE implications to religions and to people in general if they were to realize we are in a matrix, a simulation of sorts, but this is kind of along the lines of how I see the process of this world and the next one we enter as we physically pass on. 

There is a newer deeper reality when we are afforded another dimensional perspective. This is akin to a photograph spending a day as the person it represents - what a difference having all the senses and space and depth and physicality! So, imagine the next process! This is what near-death experiencers liken to "that was the REAL world and this one is not."

What about the phenomena of ghosts, especially residual ones; moments in the past replayed? Could that be a glitch in the matrix? What about when you see an image for a split second and it's gone, you smell something that shouldn't be there? Have a sense of Deja vu?  Are those glitches? 

And, if you want to delve into serious mind fuck territory, what about cryptids? Is there a passage from one reality to another that makes them capable of retreating? Having higher knowledge by way of knowing the other realm? Imagine it like this - I am a person in my home, doing my daily activities, and take a break for a while to "escape" by painting a 2-dimensional painting or creating a movie on my computer. I am playing in the 2-dimensional realm for my leisure and then go back to my regular existence. 

Can this be what cryptids are doing? Escaping for a bit of nostalgia, to play in the 3D physicality for a time and then go back to the greater reality? Did they swallow the red pill and have knowledge of this other realm that lords it over ours? 

And, further, did other beings millions of years ago learn how to cross over behind the matrix and come and go at will, showing themselves as UFOs and greys, shadow people and black-eyed children? 

Well, this is another explanation that might make the "metaphysical" qualities of the cryptids make sense. 

Is there a matrix? I tend to think so in terms of a greatly orchestrated universe and some inconsistencies that defy the science we believe is ruling the universe. Perhaps evolution was not a smooth process, but a revision upon occasion (a kind of app update). If we apply the matrix hypothesis, the universe's weirdness suddenly makes sense and its "creation" appearance has logic, as well as its discrepancies being part of the process.

Haunted Hallways

Which hallway is more haunted?

Chi - a Chinese term used for "energy." There is good chi and bad chi according to the practice of Feng Shui. Yin energy is associated with spirits and negativity. If there is "yin" energy within a building, it will follow simple paths. This is why clearing out a haunted location and getting rid of clutter and darkness are critical to keeping yin energy moving out of the way and not being trapped.

Take hallways for example. If doorways open to each other, the energy can go from one room to the other creating a current of energy just in that spot, but if the doorways are staggered, energy can come from the room, hit the wall, bounce and ricochet, all the way down a corridor, mixing with the energies from all the other rooms coming out and hitting the wall and bouncing back and forth. You create a sort of energy current down the hallway. Consider it a spirit labyrinth, if you will. 

Interestingly, windchimes are supposed to attract spirits in the practice of Feng Shui, especially in the Southwest corner of the building.  I wear a windchime necklace to the site and I often hang it up, ensuring that the air is not turned on and windows are closed.  They are so delicate and light and being attractive to spirits (by feng shui rules), it should give me a tinkle. Upon occasion, it does. 

Mirrors create a bounce of energy too. In fact, rather than filming into a haunted stairwell, try putting a mirror at the bottom of the stairs and see if you capture more activity than usual. You might get something caught in a path of back and forth capture. 

Setting up a strobe light in a hallway with offset doors is yet another interesting way of studying potentially fast moving energy. If you study a moving ceiling fan with a strobe light, you can see that it visually slows things down enough to see what is too fast to discern with the naked eye. The blades are individual looking instead of a blur when a strobe light is on it. A warning, though, some people get migraines and even seizures with strobe lights, so work with one ahead of time to know if it makes you feel bad.

Those places in a home that seem to be very actively haunted are usually the cul-du-sac areas, dark areas, cluttered areas. These create that kind of trap for energy. The simple act of brightening and clearing out a home can make it freed up. 

This is an interesting technique that I have found to be extremely helpful in assisting people with issues in their homes. Whether there is something to Feng Shui or movement of energy or not, I give it some real praise when it comes to haunted locations. 

You can use the concepts to clear energy, but you can also use them to attract it - so start thinking in reverse if you want to capture something and prepare an environment that could amplify and hold energies.

Elements That Might Affect Hauntings

Aokigahara Forest at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan has taken on the tragic nickname of "Suicide Forest." Every year, hundreds of despondent people enter the forest, some of them camping for a time to put their heads in the right place to make the final desperate sacrifice of their mortal life in this beautiful natural setting. Such a location, for 14 square miles of size, and given the amounts of death should be quite haunted, but there are more reasons than just those for why it could be exceptionally haunted.

Most haunted locations have death associated with them - that crossing over from this realm to the next, but how those deaths happen is as important as the fact that they passed on there. It appears that the moments that a person is dying, whether in fighting, defending, sickness, suicide or pain, the intensity of emotion and period of time are critical to adding layers in the environment of space "memories" or "markers." Surprise death, such as being shot down without foreknowledge, seems to lessen the possibility of lingering spirits. 

Considerations such as geology, construction, and decades of tragedy combine into ideal spirit vessels, as well as possibly some other elements we don't consider.

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV.  An ideal candidate for a spirit vessel. The largest hand-cut stone structure in America sitting atop of sandstone, shale, clay, coal and limestone geology, and has had hundreds of agonizing deaths within its walls, not to mention the energy of many minds that were troubled. 

The power of the earth is an amazing thing. In fact, Tesla mentioned that the voltage between earth and ionosphere could make for unlimited free energy if we tapped it. The constant geologic shifts and seismic activity affect the human body, but what do certain types of geology do for forces and pressures, fissures, and caves, all sort of variables underground that affect the very chemistry and electrical of our bodies? People do predict earthquakes, most often reporting migraines just before. Animals react quite violently to coming seismic activity. Even solar flares can give us vivid dreams. We are more affected by the very earth we are pressed upon by gravity than we realize.

Considerations

Atmospheric electricity:  There are electrical charges in earth's atmosphere. Tesla even contemplated that between the negatively charged earth and positively charged inosophere, there were 200,000 volts available for potential free energy for the citizens. Static electricity and electrical storms are often signs present during haunting activity. 

Earth's Resonance:  The earth vibrates at a resonance of 7.83 Hertz. Some believe that listening to this particular frequency would be soothing to the body and any variances in that frequency may cause unsettling effects. Seismic activity might give off a resonance felt by animals and sometimes interpreted by humans as migraines and odd dreams. It is possible that this resonance change can precede a ghostly activity or make it more perceivable. 

Harmonics:  While researching hauntings at Eastern State Penn, it was found that the long spoke-like halls projecting from the inner circle area created infrasound when there was rain falling on the building. Infrasound is a frequency of sound below the threshold of human hearing, and yet it has a remarkable effect on the person's perceptions and experiences. The very action of wind, rain and natural occurrences upon a building, if constructed a certain way, could create infrasound that, once again, either makes us perceive something that isn't there or makes us more keenly aware of that which we cannot perceive under normal circumstances. 

Geomagnetic storms: When there are solar flares, the resulting issue for us on the Earth are geomagnetic storms. It's been studied in its affects on heart rhythm and heart attack rates, but what about the brain?  The pineal gland is the interesting part of the brain. It is small, like a walnut, but packs a huge punch. It floats in cerebrospinal fluid inside the brain and regulates much from our circadian rhythms, internal compass, and releasing hormones like melatonin that allow us to sleep. It is also believed to be the seat of psychic skills. And, it is apparently affected by geomagnetic storms with everything from higher incidence of suicide to extremely vivid dreams. It is possible that geomagnetic storms either work on our receptive abilities to perceive ghostly activity or affect the phenomena of ghosts to manifest. 

Water holding memories:  Experiments have shown that impressing a word or feeling onto a drop of water causes the very formation of it to change. We have yet to put this test to other sources to see what else holds memories. Being a psychometrist, I can tell you that objects and walls hold memories and even spaces. The question is - might this be just recorded events or memories and not a true spirit haunting feature? 

Feng Shui: An ancient Chinese system for organizing one's environment to make good energy flow freely and bad energy exit. The very placement of doors, windows, stairwells, and objects within a home can either trap bad energy or allow good energy to make positive things occur. I often ask people in troubled homes to being with some simple steps, journaling events, having a talk with the environment, and cleaning up the clutter and adding more light. It is not fully understood if "chi" (energy) is blocked by paths, but ironically highly reported areas of hauntings are hallways and roadways. 

Geology:  There is a great deal of talk about the types of geology that seem to be present in haunted locations and in my own sample study of 50 reportedly active haunted locations, things like limestone, granite, and sandstone were common, but then these are common geological features in areas where towns were built around mining and resources. It can be hard to decide if the geology is at fault or if the fact that distant buildings were built in prime areas that populations gravitated toward. There are some things to consider in places like mining towns. Yes, they had a rough and tumble past, but so did Gettysburg Battlefield and Revolutionary War locations. The very content of salt and copper in the ground could make some areas more electrically conductive. It might either jump start ghostly activity or create phenomena interpreted as ghostly. 

Piezoelectricity:  Many materials can produce an electrical charge such ceramics, stone and quartz. There are very interesting conditions in ancient megaliths that show promise that the ancients were very aware of the properties of stone and ceramic and resonance and sound waves in order to create all manner of disturbance and perhaps even opening portals to other realms in which they eventually chose to remain and leave us behind with the remnants of a civilization so advanced that we must ponder if aliens had visited us. 

Psychometrics:   Is a prison more haunted because of the amount of angry people within and violence or because it contains metal surfaces that retain that energy? Are ties made in this realm with an energy form that can pass between worlds so that those on the "other side" can come back and forth under the right conditions to the locations that are tied to their personal energy form? Well, there is much to be pondered in this arena and I have spent a lifetime trying to figure out just how psychometrics work and what I am reading and how, though I do admit that metal seems to retain the clearest "memories" to be read. 

Living humans:  There is no denying that, no matter what equipment an investigator carries, it's the human who perceived the activity that is the best meter for what is going on a haunted environment. There are humans who are more "magnetic" for activity and whether that is because their perceptions are better honed or they simply have a chemistry or electrical about their bodies that attracts or even creates the right situation for a showing, is unknown. There have been reported higher incidents of poltergeist activity in those who have seizure disorder and whose temporal lobes might be damaged or highly active. There is much we don't know about how it all comes together, but we do know one thing - humans are witnesses to activity and so a very integral part of the whole process of finding hauntings. 

Conclusion

As you can see, these are only a part of the potential physical world elements that can contribute to a haunting and even when you put all these together, you don't know the exact balance necessary to create lots of activity. We living people are perhaps one of the greatest elements because it is our very perceptions that register these hauntings and there is very likely an element of our own chemical and brain makeup that affect/attract activity.

Who Is Dogman's Daddy?

Ever since Dogman was first reported, lots of variations have been described. The problem becomes one of chicken or the egg dilemma. Because people reported seeing a bipedal creature with what appeared to be a snout and a hair-covered body, werewolf/dog became the comparison. We did much the same when Sasquatch showed up in popular talk in the 1950s and because he was upright and hair covered, he was compared to a gorilla. Soon, people commonly accepted Sasquatch as a gorilla and Dogman as a dog variation. Therefore, much research has been on the assumption of a canine and its habits and tendencies, much like people thinking Sasquatch would think and act as an ape. 

There are often witness embellishments including more dog-like features, like pointed ears and a tail and it's difficult to determine if this is people equating what they were seeing with a dog-man and assuming features other than the obvious snout and hair. 

We don't get far in cryptid research when we classify something and then make assumptions. There can be no assumptions about Dogman's origins. We must treat it as a set of circumstances, locations, encounters, and physical features that give rise to a possible explanation. 

I think we can all agree that the notion of a dog-human mating is an enormous jump from what we could consider "Occam's Razor" or the concept that the most simple explanation is probably the accurate one. 

So, before we jump to alien hybridization and otherworldly beings, I'd like to try some real-world explanations for these "features."

Let's begin with a potential lineage for Dogman - what are his origins? What creatures have been in America for millions of years and which ones might have survived long enough to evolve in seclusion? What kind of creatures have a tendency to be shy and forest or arboreal-focused. 




Above: This chart demonstrates the two branches of primates that split off, one below giving way to tarsiers, new world and old world monkeys, apes and humans, and the one above giving way to lemurs and lorises. Notice the one fellow who is on the upper branch that leads to lemurs and lorises? They recently found him and they are continuing to find others who fit into the limbs closer to the millions of years ago mark. All of these primates emerged from that one common ancestor on the left, but supposedly only the ape line managed to create upright intelligent beings. The lorises and lemurs, though originating from the same progenitor, did not manage to create an upright or intelligent being, hmm? 

Evolution  

We know what happened on the ape branch - humans, but what happened on the other main branch, was their outcome the simple lemur for the same millions of years?

Some of these qualities are quite interesting like the tapetum lucidum - the membrane over the eye that could cause eye shine and a nictating membrane, as well that would protect the eyes from branches and such (something you might have read about in the recent post on here by Karl Sup about his eye hypothesis for Bigfoot).  They were also described as nocturnal, solitary, terrestrial and arboreal, having a tooth comb, grooming claws, occupy niches of higher primates, very large eyes.

What if these "wet nosed" creatures did, in fact, have the same occurrence on their end of the primate tree? What features might that upright being have? Timidity? Shy tree-loving? A snout? Nightvision? 

The Americas had lemurs and sloths, even giant sloths, up until 30,000 years ago, and the lemurs were believed to have died out. What if they had a branch on their section of the tree that produced an upright being? This would need a fair amount of intelligence to survive up against large creatures. They would have to work on skills of arboreal (tree) living as well as out thinking the predators to become exceedingly reclusive. 

There are carnivorous lemurs. There is no reason to think they might be as close as a chimp and a human, with the human growing smarter, upright, and taller. The lemur could very well have had a cousin that grew taller, upright, and smarter.



Source:  Most eosimiidae species are documented by unique or fragmentary specimens. This, as well as the strong belief that simians originated in Africa has made it difficult for many to accept the idea that Asia played a role in early primate evolution. Although some continue to challenge the anthropoid resemblances found in Eosiimidae, extensive anatomical evidence collected over the past decade substantiates its anthropoid status.

Wikipedia: Dating has proven this genus lived from 40 to 45 million years ago in the middle Eocene. The genus Eosimiasis unique because of the presence of primitive and derived traits. It provides new insight into the phylogenetic relationships. 

Truth: Our knowledge has holes in it - 

The original continent that made up the land mass of the world, referred to as Pangaea, broke up apparently 100,000,000 years ago. What early common ancestors did it contain? Well, before it broke off, it must have carried lemurs and New World monkeys to the American continents. I'm a little confused here, how did lemurs and New World monkeys make it to America if the continents broke off 100 million years ago and yet "Archiecebus achilles" (below) is the oldest primate found, meaning it was older than lemurs and this was 55,000 years ago and "Ida" (below) was the oldest common ancestor between lemur and human 45,000,000 years ago. Sometimes, explanations get a bit wishy washy in the world of archaeology about whether primates evolved in Asia while evolving in Africa, and yet we know of Peking Man and Java Man.

SOURCE:  The find, described in the journal Nature, is the oldest known fossil primate skeleton. “This is the oldest primate skeleton of this quality and completeness ever discovered and one of the most primitive primate fossils ever documented. The origin of primates sets the first milestone for all primate lineages, including that of humanity,” explained co-author Dr Dan Gebo, an anthropologist with the Northern Illinois University.



"IDA" - Germany 45,000,000 oldest branch between lemur and human discovered and called Darwinius masillae. She is 45 million years old and considered one of the most extraordinary finds in the early primate family.  

If lemurs branch is a possibility let's have a look at how a lemur (non-evolved into upright) stands - 



Do we now have that sort of digitigrade stance of a dog if you stand him up on his haunches. Their feet were not designed for walking on upright like our plantigrade ones. Many report this haunched-look to the legs of dogman.

Evolution is, of course, applied to all life forms, so it is relevant to the Dogman. No matter how romantic it is, he did not just drop from the sky. But, there is more to the possible origins of his "evolutionary" process.  

Let's look at another real possibility:

Hybrids  

There are humans and then there are apes side by side and what if the streptsirrhines produced both a large more feral descendent (ape like) and an intelligent civilized being? Here might be case for that intelligent offshoot - 

From the book The Natural and Aboriginal History of Tennessee by John Haywood (starting page 200 on reprint edition from Amazon): Referred to as "pygmies," these skeletons were found buried in crypts just outside of Sparta, Tennessee in the County of White and reported in the Nashville Whig in June 1820.These graves had many bodies, all of them quite small. Some of the crypts were as small as 18 inches by 12 inches. The first grave was 2 feet long and inside the small skeleton and its teeth had the researcher wondering if it was canine or monkey. He had them sent off to be examined.  They were buried with care in a stone crypt and had shells and urns with them. The bones were so old they crumbled quite easily. One skull the examiner held up was 5" across from side to side.  Most individuals were from 18 inches to 2 feet 10 inches long. One find was a 5 foot 5 inch individual found with the smaller ones. The taller skeleton had a head that was longer, eyes much wider asunder, the forehead much higher above the eyebrows, and the under jaw measured one inch longer on each side than the smaller fellows.Atop the head of one skull had bright silver grey fine hairs.There was great dissimilarity in skull shapes, the size and shape of the bones, and looked to belong to different tribes of people. Just 8 miles away, a 7-foot giant was found.


Let's look at another very real world possibility -

Did you know that in the primate world, if you hybridize two baboons that are in different "types," you can get some interesting features? Their snouts get boxier, they get extra teeth, and bigger faces. It wouldn't take much to imagine a Sasquatch and another Sasquatch of separate "types." Reportedly within the Sasquatch family, there are ones with bigger foreface, some that look quite human, some that look like apes, and many variations. These could all be different "breeds" of their kind or "races" as we would put it. When you hybridize, some features are more pronounced.

In the case of lemurs, they are only found on Madagascar, but they were all over the globe at one time, believing to have died off eventually and thriving on the island because of isolation. What if their common ancestor was on the Americas when they broke off into their own continent? What would the variety have been here?  And if they mated between two distinct breeds, what sort of "robust" characteristics might they have created?

Best candidates in America for dogman evolution

We would need to open our minds up about the origins of Dogman in America. We have two avenues to explore - either an evolutionary descent of New World monkey family or another intriguing possibility I will discuss in a while.

First potential candidate - 

Megatherium Americanum (giant sloth of Americas)

Source:  Paleontologists in Uruguay published findings in November suggesting that humans hunted giant sloths there about 30,000 years ago. This is an interesting concept because it supposes that humans were in the Americas 30,000 years ago. Oh, I think it was longer than that. Man aside, let's look at the giant sloth. We know they have some characteristics described in dogman and were here up until 30,000 years ago, but unless their fossils are vastly different than earlier giant sloths, that is not enough time for an evolutionary change to what people describe as Dogman. Let's look for a critter who might have become upright who was here much longer ago - 



In the drawing above is tarsius eocaenus (dog in that name). 

Tarsiiformes - tarsiers are a group of primates that once ranged from Europe to Asia, Africa to America, but today are only found on the islands of Southeast Asia. This is intriguing when you consider forms of them that might have evolved over time on those isolated islands where eventually many thousands of years ago, ancient giants (or as I call them Originators) came to spread out over those islands as they conquered the earth long before homo sapiens. It is a possibility that these evolved upright beings were taken upon their ships and brought with them to the new world as a novelty or even as a slave labor for their lesser intelligence. 


New World Monkeys - 

Homunculus patagonicus

This New World Monkey was found in Argentina estimated to be from about 23 million years ago.  More than enough time to evolve into another form of man. We know that in China, other forms of man were developing, like Java Man and Peking Man and that was outside of Africa. These new world monkeys many millions of years ago could have shared a common ancestor when they developed in the Americas, one that lead the path to an upright intelligent being, perhaps even a form of man we eventually called the elongated skull people of Paracas and also perhaps having taken a whole different variation. The skull shows the potential for an eventual long-faced upright being.

This fellow might be the BINGO in the group - 

Bear-Dog

Now, here's a real candidate - the Bear-Dog. Amphicyonidae were large terrestrial carnivores in North America, Africa, Europe and Asia from 46.2 million years ago to 1.8 million years ago, existing for an amazing 44.4 million years!  It doesn't take much imagination to consider 1.8 million years of evolving into a form we might know and see today as Dogman. In that period of time. Just look at this fellow who was us 1.8 million years ago, referred to as Skull 5. 

The interesting thing about the Bear-Dog is that they had proportions like a dog, but a build like a bear. Many report a bear-like snout on the dogman. They were also thought to be plantigrade instead of digitigrade like dogs are now. This means their feet landed on the ground flatly like a bear (plantigrade) instead of a dog (digitigrade), and we know how bears can stand. Even paleontologists have a hard time classifying these fellows. They were thought to weight less than 100 kg which would be below 220 pounds. However, considering the size of man this many millions of years ago and the ones walking around today, the evolutionary process had us standing erect and growing in height. If such a process occurred to the Bear-Dog, we would have an excellent candidate for Dogman.

Conclusion

I believe any of us who find validity in the existence of a race of intelligent and very robust beings that had advanced technology and are often referred to as ancient giants and those with elongated skulls in Peru, would find this fascinating because it implies that separate lineages of man-like beings were branching off all over the world and some were here much longer and were more advanced than we thought. 

This gives rise to the concept that from man there were Peking Man, Java Man, Aryans, Giants, homo floresiensis (found in 2003!), Homo sapiens and others not yet identified, and from early lineages of other species, there could have been evolutionary offshoots and beings here that we have not accounted for yet. 

How about the oldest primate found in the Americas? The Branisella was found in Bolivia and dates back to about 26 million years.  This is rather interesting, isn't it? If this major continent broke apart 100 million years ago, then these guys arrived 26 million years ago from where? Yes, more of those gaps in knowledge. Interestingly, the Bransiella is hard to relate back to other Old World monkeys, according to experts. Now, you put him on a continent separated and imagine what his evolutionary process might undergo. It would be something quite "other" than what occurred in Africa and other continents with primates. 


An evolutionary offshoot of the "wet nose" primates? Hybridization between Sasquatch? 
Evolved process of the Bear-Dog? 

The possibilities are endless when you consider the process of evolution and the candidates that might be progenitor to such an oddity. The key here is to walk away from the canine classification and open the door for real origins of this elusive being.

Stone and Acoustics: Hauntings and Ancient Construction

(above - my childhood home in the mid 1860s after the war and the basement today)

In 2009, I embarked on a study of 50 haunted sites around America and their features and histories to discover if there is a formula for haunted places, or as I like to call them "spirit vessels."  

I grew up in an over 200-year-old home that was used during the Civil War as a hospital. The floors were still stained with their blood and the land filled with relics that we dug up and displayed in a cabinet. It had me wondering from a young age why, as a psychic, I noted certain buildings were more haunted. I had come to learn the "features" that make an ideal spirit vessel. Some buildings simply had the "right stuff" to show promise and I intuitively knew those features.

My childhood home sat atop a never ending stream and was originally called the Springfield for that. We drank the well water and enjoyed robust health. But, the building itself was an ideal spirit vessel of construction from the basement to the tin roof. Combined with traumatic history, the running water, the geology, and building construction and layout, it was a dream spirit vessel and I wrote about the incidents we had growing up there in my book, "Growing Up With Ghosts."

Here are the results looking at features -

The haunted scale measured 1-6; 1 as least haunted features and 6 as most haunted features.

Geology (in order of most potent geology and then descending in importance)
1. Limestone: 13 of 14 sites with limestone ranked a 5 or 6 on the haunted scale
2. Shale: 12 of 13 sites with shale ranked a 5 or 6 on the haunted scale
3. Sandstone: 20 of 22 sites with sandstone ranked a 5 or 6 on the haunted scale
4. Granite: 1 of 2 sites with granite ranked a 5 or 6 on the haunted scale.

Sedimentary is a rather vague title for a type of geology and just about all the 50 sites had this kind in one way or another, but then a great majority of the land in the US is sedimentary, so that's not necessarily significant, except that volcanic areas seemed to be very devoid of activity, except mining towns with copper.

WATERWAYS: (I considered if the site was within a mile of running water, stream, river, ocean)
41 of 50 sites had this feature--that is very significant. It's also hard to discover whether or not the other 9 sites had underground springs, so it's a very hard one to judge. Also, people tended to build homes near waterways long ago before we had wonderful plumbing and such. I did not, however, find one super haunted site that did not have running water nearby.

TRAINS: This one intrigued me because of the strange correlation, but now I am leaning more toward it being an incidental finding and considering removing it from the formula all together which might alter a few things, but statistically it wasn't horribly impressive and, as I said, people tended to build older homes near trains and trains tended to be built near towns.
32 sites had train tracks nearby, 18 did not.

DEATH/TRAUMA:
42 of 50 sites.

OLDER THAN 50 YEARS:
All 50 sites

CONSTRUCTION:
Masonry/block/brick were 43 of the 47 that could be judged (one place was a sign, one place was a ship, and one place was a cemetery, so construction could not be included)
Frame were 4 of 47.

All of this has unfolded to make me search for more answers about construction and haunting features. National Geographic had a wonderful program about seeking out the source of ghosts. A study was performed at Eastern State Penn, a very actively haunted location. 

It was discovered that, with the spoke-like stone construction, when it rained, it created corridors of moving infrasound (sound below the audible range of human hearing), but exceedingly uncomfortable to people who would feel watched, see shapes and figures, and generally experience typical haunting features. 

What happens when a massive building with the right shape is constructed to take advantage of wind and rain? Does nature then amplify this harmonic and create certain feelings in the humans within? Is this perhaps the principal around why lighthouse seem to be particularly haunted with their stone cylindrical shape and water crashing outside? 

I next began to take my research on the unusual ancient stone structures that were circular and the new study of acoustic archaeology and wondered what the ancients knew about shape, stone, resonance and acoustics that might have created either visions or perhaps even real connections with other realms. Why did they drag particular stones huge distances in order to construct these "vessels"?

Let's have a look at how sound affects the human vessel: 

The use of biaural beats and HemiSync rhythms can induce astral projection. Does this possible cause the mind to leave the body or simply stimulate visual hallucinations? This may be the key to hauntings and to ancients' purposeful constructions.

What are the effects of infrasound on a human body? We know that there is a man who can make infrasound and physicians say it is because he has longer than usual vocal chords. 

Might an ancient giant have extraordinarily long vocal chords and the ability to create infrasound? What if he created this sound within a stone structure that could create a resonant frequency to make something happen? Might his symbol from their ancient culture and borrowed by natives around the world be the symbol of their sound attraction?

What can infrasound do? Let's look at this experiment as to what it can do to water - 

Does earth resonance, sound, frequency, acoustics have something to do with the nature of, or perception of, other realms?

CONCLUSION

Perhaps the ideal "spirit vessel" is one that combines geology, stone construction, building shape, placement on the land, nearby cemeteries and waterways and the cumulative history of bursts of human emotion over centuries.
