I caught the debut of the new Josh Gates-related informational show, "Expedition X." 

I thought I'd chime in on Discovery Channel's newest bet for paranormal-geek viewers.

New Season Begins "Expedition Unknown" on Travel Channel

Tonight on Travel Channel, the new season of "Expedition Unknown" begins. And on the 12th, a new spin-off show with Josh exploring the unexplained and spooky stuff called "Expedition X." 

Thank you, Travel Channel! 

And, especially thank you Josh for always being diplomatic, not talking politics or ego, simply making us think, making us laugh, and getting us to hold our breath as you take on great risks to get answers. 

You are what TV has needed for so long; a great example without a diva attitude, a sordid personal life, and notions of grandiosity and liberalism spewing from your mouth every opportunity in front of the camera. 

Across the board, you are the most liked guy on TV!

I readily admit that I am a HUGE Josh Gates fan. I'm a fan of what he does and how he goes about it, apolitically, good clean fun, excitement about the world, healthy skepticism. When Discovery Channel decides to put on 4-part Expedition Unknown episodes, my toes curl!

Expedition Unknown - Yeti Continues Tonight!

Josh Gates is continuing his search for the yeti on tonight's episode of "Expedition Unknown." Last week's season opener was so awesome, people are still talking about it. If you didn't see it, they are reshowing it tonight on TRAVEL CHANNEL before they show this second part episode. 

Josh is accompanied on this trek by expert Adam Davies, a knowledgeable and likable companion. I'd actually like to see him be a regular sidekick - he needs someone to work with to get that conversation going back and forth on the discoveries.

I have to say, tonight is a popcorn evening for sure!

Damn! I sure love having Josh back doing what he does best - poking his cute nose into lots of mysteries and expeditions around the world. He is the real guy's Indiana Jones and every girls dream travel partner.

Tonight, Josh is looking for the Khmer Empire in Cambodia and a lost relic. The beginning of this empire was 802 AD.  It had amazing industry and wealth. Now, Josh is going to see if he can find it and a relic from its past.

Destination Truth 2012

July 10th opening episode:  First, at 8pm, Josh and team lead viewers on a chase into one of the world’s biggest caves in the jungles of Vietnam to search for Bigfoot and emerge with some of the most compelling evidence ever caught on camera!  Then, at the overwhelming request of fans, they’ll travel to Romania for a return visit to the haunted Hoia Bachu Forest - the site of their most terrifying investigation to date - and then explore the reportedly haunted Mayan ruins of Tikal in pursuit of a monster known as the Belize Goblin.



Yes, you know that I'm going to be doing a whole bunch of photoshop-challenged pics of Josh in his situations for this coming season beginning Tuesday July 10th.

Following the Antarctica season ender in Antarctica (one of my top fav episodes), it's hard to imagine where else Josh could go to impress us.

Tonight Josh is going to go to check out an abandoned mining town in Nambia and some kind of creepy monster! OMG!

I don't know how he does it all! Some day, he'll have to settle down and start a family. I mean, he's totally awesome, so why not??? But, it's really important someone that smart and cute marries the right woman to make babies, right? LOL. He has a duty to better mankind with his totally adorable kids. That had me wondering, what would Josh and I's kids be like? I Photoshopped them, Josh. Won't our son and daughter be so cool? They're adorable! I'd be so proud to be their mama, Josh! (dreamy sigh)

Josh Gates Journal: March 22, 2011

Josh is looking for the Ucumar in Argentina, a Bigfoot/Yeti-like creature. They will be poking around an abandoned prison. He's sooooo brave! (heart beating fast)

I wish I could send Josh a protective cape like a superhero. OMG! He'd be so cute in it! I guess his totally cool necklace will protect him. (dreamy sigh)

He better not go to any beaches down there. Those women in bikinis in Argentina are beautiful. What if he falls in love? What if he marries a supermodel? What if they have kids??? OMG! I'd be totally devastated! (deep breath)

Just in case, I looked ahead in the TV guide and it doesn't look like he stops to get married along the way. (exhales) LOL, now I can concentrate on really important things like seeing Josh in his khakis! LOL

Josh, this video is for you. You won't notice any other women while in Argentina. You'll just be seeing this in your head the whole time...

Destination Truth: Josh Gates Journals

I do the tank top shots and reviews for Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files and I do the drinking game and music videos for Ghost Adventures, but I realized I haven't done justice to my very favorite TV show; Destination Truth.

Well, this season, expect a post each day the show is on entitled “Josh Gates Journals.” There will be appropriate Josh adventurer picture with his trademark necklace and a humorous post taken from my own "fan journal" with a quiz question to stump you fans.

I am encouraging folks that if they're watching it tonight, feel free to come on and comment while watching it. Like Lonely on a Friday Night, I will be here all evening watching it too.

Warning: This is a way to let my tween alter ego express herself, completely tongue-in-cheek and obsessive. Just picture me playing with my pigtails as I take notes in my journal. Consider Josh a kind of Beiber of the paranormal world.

Journal entry March 17, 2011

Josh is going to have a new adventure tonight! He's going in search of Banshees in Ireland. OMG! He's soooo brave! I read that Banshees are female fairy spirits that supposedly come from the underworld and can be harbingers of death for families. If you hear her wailing cries, you or your loved ones may be in trouble!

Not my Josh, though! He's a superhero! He's so handsome, and so tall, and so sweet and when he jokes around, I just LMAO! I love his hair. If he ever cuts it, I'll be so sad. Maybe I could buy a lock of it on ebay and then some day, I could clone him. A dozen Josh's. Wow! (sigh)

Today is St. Patty's Day and I'm not wearing green. Why, you ask? Because if I happen to find myself in Ireland, perhaps kidnapped by some wild partygoers, and I run into Josh, I really really really want him to pinch me. LOL! (giggling, wiggling in my seat)

I just love the different expressions he makes. There's the one he does to the camera when he can't believe what someone is saying and I swear sometimes he's sharing the joke with me. Do you think he might be? OMG! LOL! (grinning)

This is the first live episode ever! All I have to say is that I have my Josh picture beside me and some green 7-up with a cherry in it. Josh, baby, if you want, you can have my cherry! OMG! TMI! LOL! (blushing)

Q&A With Josh Gates "Destination Truth"

(Okay, so my new thing with Josh is to put his head and necklace on other bodies and I suck at Photoshop so it makes it extra special and fun)

Yesterday, I was on a teleconference Q&A with Josh Gates from "Destination Truth" (my very favorite show). I am always impressed by this man. He is highly intelligent and compassionate, talented and curious.

St. Patrick's Day from 7-11 pm there will be the shows first ever live episode coming from Ireland. The location is the site of supposed visual and auditory signs of a screaming banshee (a female spirit who wails when someone in a family is about to die, a kind of creepy harbinger of death, if you will).

The investigation will be set up with some new equipment making it possible for us to follow the teams as they divide and conquer a huge castle, a walled garden and the forests beyond. Kris and Barry From GHI will also be there on site to evaluate evidence and render opinions in real time.

Josh is extremely excited about the trek he has wanted to make for years--Antarctica. They go to some abandoned research stations that supposedly had activity. He said it was one of their funniest and exciting episodes. I admit, that is exactly what I always wanted them to do--go to the old abandoned stations. Wahoo! He said all the episodes were exciting and he especially loved showing Namibia in SW Africa because it's rarely filmed and one of the things they strive for the most is to bring people to hard to reach and unusual places.

He said their team changes often because they are on the road for 2-3 months and then home for a period of time in which time these people have other jobs they're hired for that interrupt filming scheduling. He also said that sometimes they like people with a certain language ability or expertise for a certain shoot.

A technical question I think a lot of us wanted answered was about their body mounted cameras. The cameras are aimed at their faces and film them as they hunt, but a questioner asked why they don't turn the camera to face out and he said that if they did the IR would conflict with the IR from the main filming cameras would blast it out.

Since the show has never revisited a place, that was asked. Josh said in a year or two expect them to go back to some places. Please let it be Doll Island and Suicide Forest and the forest in Romania!

I am very very excited about this season and I think it will prove to be one of their best. I don't know if it could top the season with Doll Island and Suicide Forest and King Tut and Chernobyl and such, but I am sure it will compete mightily.

Be ready on St. Patty's Day. I'm doing a new special series whenever the show is on and it will have you laughing and getting exciting and even quizzes that will be real stumpers.

The real season of the show will begin on Tuesday the 22nd at 9 pm. So, expect this show to be a Tuesday night special this season on Syfy.

Syfy Happenings and My Upcoming Josh Showcase!

Tonight, new season of "Ghost Hunters" (yawn) Did I mention "Ghost Hunters" is starting ANOTHER season tonight? At this point, I think some viewers wouldn't mind watching them pick lint from their bellybuttons. Personally, they showed no growth or change in all those, what is it--7 seasons??? I say "off with their heads!" It's not entertaining and it's not even informative anymore. It's like taking Algebra for the fifth time, all I hear from the teacher when he speaks is "wah wah wah wah wah." All I hear when Steve explains the haunting to Tango is "wah wah wah wah wah." And, at the end of the episode during reveal, Jason will say for the umpteenth time "and things of that nature."

On the bright side, my favorite guilty pleasure, "Destination Truth" has a live episode kicking off its new season on the 17th of March looking for Banshees in Ireland--wahoo! God, I want his job! No, I'd rather be his sidekick. Expect me to launch the show with its own goofy show-day fun. You know how FoF I do the tank top shots and then LAUGH episodes? For GA I do music videos and the drinking game? Well, Josh baby needs his own showcase and I'm going to give it to him like only Autumnforest can when she's stalking, ahem, admiring someone. You'll have to see what I have planned on St. Patty's Day.



I hope you're watching "Face-Off" on Syfy Channel. I am addicted to it. I find myself rooting for certain participants. I really loved last week's when they were designing new horror movie villains. This week, they are going to do old-age makeup.

Syfy has announced a new show in conjunction with one of the most disliked Top Chef contestants who was rather young and cocky but a damn good cook! He was very much into the new technology of cooking using rather space-age appearing techniques. Here's what they have to say about this one--I like the idea and will be following it avidly:

"Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen."  The series, premiering March 22, follows Marcel as he dreams up creative menus and produces extraordinary events and celebrations for all types of occasions while having to use every ounce of imagination and scientific experimentation in order to deliver a once in a lifetime experience. 

Syfy still needs me to orchestrate my brilliant paranormal show concept, but for now I will watch their other programs and amuse myself until they decide to get serious about their ratings.

"Destination Truth" Tonight SyFy Haunted Volcano! And Skittles The Clown Video

There is nothing my dear adorable Josh Gates won't do, no place he won't check out that might be haunted or stalked by some kind of cryptid. The adorable gang and perky Josh are going down into a crater in search of ghosts... Beware, dude, it's a volcano!

Here's a short video to show you how I've set up the window at the apartment for Halloween. It's right at the front door and the lightning will flash on the dolls. I added Skittles to the mix (mainly because he freaks me out if he gets to stare at me).

"Destination Truth" and "Beast Legends" Tonight!

Josh said that the Ghost Fleet part of this episode was his favorite. A first time ever underwater ghost investigation.

Following "Destination Truth" is "Beast Legends" investigating the griffin (winged lion).

Josh Gates Q&A

His father was a world-traveler and deep-sea diver. His mother came from Great Britain. When his father would return from exotic places, he would come bearing gifts and stories. His mother shuttled the family to Europe to visit her family there. The world to a young Josh Gates was filled with one more interesting thing to see, hear, smell and dive into head-first.

If you wonder how he came to be the adventurer he is, and the television equivalent to Indiana Jones, you have only to look at this upbringing and his impressive education, as well as his standing in the exclusive Explorer’s Club to understand that “Destination Truth” is perhaps more a title for his own life than for the television show.

He began hosting because he was a regular guy people could identify with who loves to travel and ask questions. He wasn’t a monster hunter or paranormal investigator. We completely identify with him.

On my telephone Q&A given through SyFy channel yesterday, I was able to listen to his interview. I wanted to contribute but someone else beat me to the question—damn!

His stand on ghosts was what I was most interested in and he claims to be a skeptic at heart, but occasionally things happen that he cannot explain. His favorite episode of this season was episode #5. It was a dive in Micronesia where a battle occurred during WWII and lots of Japanese ships sank. They actually performed an underwater investigation including the use of hydrophones and high-def video and audio.

He said that he also really enjoyed the Siberian Snowman episode, as it was a 1-hour/one cryptid adventure of 11 days of trekking across Siberia. The show prefers to do slightly more cryptid episodes than paranormal and they like that their paranormal doesn't step on the toes of the big-time ghost hunters. These are not your normal house hunts.

When asked when he was most scared, he says in Romania when the roof tour off the airplane as they were preparing to land.

When asked where he’d like to go that they can’t, he said Central Africa (Congo) and Iraq, but they are too dangerous at this time.

So far as the show, he said he never gets scared until afterwards when he realizes where he went and what he did. During the fact, he said he feels like it’s a Hardy Boys adventure, flashlights in the middle of nowhere, searching and wondering what’s up ahead. The team we see on the show is the team. There’s no peripheral folks wandering through the marshes and mountains with them.

They even manage to descend into a volcano in one episode and in another episode, they go to an island in Micronesia where people apparently get very ill and some die. Josh said he got very ill and they aren’t even sure how much of that they can air, but it certainly rattled him.

It appears that Josh is just how he seems on TV which is probably why they have a huge audience. This fourth magical season will begin on the 9th on Thursday night at 9 on SyFy and I’m thrilled to have a reason to turn the TV on Thursday nights! This guy is smart, funny, sweet, and highly intelligent and well spoken. What you see, is what you get.
