Tonight's episode "Drain the Pond" is described - as Duane has a health episode, Chad takes over the drain-the-pond project.
The team got ready to drain the pond. It was an amazing orchestra with a pump that could empty a large pool in 4 minutes. Placing the pump near the pond, attaching massive strong hoses, Duane developed pain in his arm. Chad rushed him off to the ER to be seen.
As they drained the pond, they found the dam was cracking. The solution was for Chad to take the excavator and dig more length and depth into the far end of the catchment basin to take pressure off the dam.
They were down to some of the last water when the pump started clogging up from all the silt. They had to periodically stop and clear it. As they pulled items from the clogged hose, they found a broken up skull.
When they got to the last dregs of the pond, they needed to move the hose to get deeper water within the cavern system. Chad got in and dragged the heavy hose to a better position.
Overnight, the pond managed to regain a lot of depth from the caverns beneath. They decide to drop a camera down a borehole above the bead site where they had seen water. They know the hole and the pond are connected, as when they drilled the hole, 90 feet down they struck water and the pond had a spurt of water like a fountain.
As they reached the water below in the borehole, the cavern seemed to have a surge of more water, stronger currents. It shows the appearance of an Aztec water trap. Josh was confounded, as all his years of draining mines, he had never seen a reaction like this. The men decided to gather around the drawing board and figure what to do next.
Charlie decided to clean up the animal skull from the pond. Charlie supposes there might be a predator of some kind associated with the pond. We were reminded of the prehistoric snake that had been associated with the pond.
Chad things they need to follow the fault line and look for another entrance.
The next episode, the team goes back to the open pit mind to explore and find what might be another entrance to the cavern.
This was, as always, a fun episode. The team really does work together with a synchronicity that is magic to watch. They are brave, smart, ingenuitive, and talented guys. When they get the treasure, they truly earned it!
