It feels like it was only yesterday when a single movie could forever make you look at the sea (or even a lake or pool) with some apprehension.
A trip to Cape Cod where the beaches were lined by shark nets was perhaps the biggest challenge in my adolescence. I had never thought about the things I didn't see below the surface, but then I was imaging a lurking terror.
I believe "Jaws" was the best film ever made. It was flawless storytelling, witty poignant dialogue, well-developed and challenging characters, a fantastic ebb and flow of terror, gorgeous settings and art direction. All in all, a timeless film. It didn't even have to be about a shark - it represented all challenges in life and things that are feared.
