A new season begins at Blind Frog Ranch in Utah. Discovery Channel brings us more of what we want to see! Unlike Skinwalker Ranch, I feel a family-like affection for the folks on this ranch. Their goal and their approach is vastly different, yet many of the same issues exist on both ranches.
Tonight's episode was called "The Flooded Tunnel." Chad dives into an underwater passage. Eric, the geologist, returns from a meteorite site that is similar to Blind Frog ranch's. An intruder on the property steals a mysterious piece of equipment.
The only thing I find exasperating about this team is that they don't secure items in their buildings. They know these devils sneak onto the property to get into the caverns or be a step ahead of their plans, yet somehow folks distract them and steal. I feel for what they're up against, but a good lock-down safe might be helpful. I mean, dudes, you're chasing down a treasure with over 3 billion!
Cannot wait for this new season. I feel like Skinwalker Ranch chases UFOs and aliens, portals and such but will end up taking away some amazing ancient finds. Blind Frog Ranch has the opposite - I think they will come away with some amazing ancient finds, but also discover some phenomena that creates real shock and awe.
REVIEW
*Spoiler alert* I will be paraphrasing the entire episode.
The episode began with the cave dive they ended the last season. Chad and Wendell ended up in a cavern above the waterline. It appeared to stretch toward the ranch. They had just enough O2 to make it back. On their way back, they found a current in the water coming from somewhere. Chad picked up an arrowhead in the hole. He also captured a shard of pottery there.
Back at the hideout a few days later, Chad updated the team. James thought the arrowhead was 500-1000 years old. They realize at one point, the cavern system was once dry.
Eric brought back the info from the Serpent Mound in Ohio, a site of an ancient meteorite strike and place of Native worship. The serpent mound was directly atop of the potential meteorite strike. Interestingly, Skinwalker Ranch has a similar feature with the Native people making a stone spiral atop the mesa that is believed to likely have a meteorite within.
The team realized that they need to find a new location along the potential cavern system. They have a bore hole from last year that hit what might be the meteorite. They will now drill beside it every 25 feet to try and find samples that don't show metal (meteorites are mostly iron and nickel).
Josh and Chad went looking for where a becaon appeared to move to. They found an outcropping of limestone - the rock where caves are found. Atop it, they found a carved rock to look like an arrow with a stack of flat rocks beside it like a cairn. They utilized the arrow to see what was in that direction and found a rock cropping that looks just like a turtle.
A second drill hole that went 200 feet was sampled with a metal detector. There was less iron. Eric thought that one more sample and they could be right in the keyhole chamber.
Chad and Josh headed over to the turtle formation. It truly looked like a turtle. Aztecs used stone turtle markers with the head pointing toward the treasure. When the treasure is removed, the head is removed. This turtle formation still has its head.
They drilled a third hole with the hopes it was past the meteorite, as there were barely any iron bits in the second hole. If the meteorite is no longer in the way, they should be able to punch into the keyhole chamber.
Sadly, they found highly radioactive uranium in the sample and had to shut down the drill site.
Charlie and Duane were riding around and their security camera showed someone at one of their buildings. They called the sheriff. The person heard Charlie yelling a warning over the speaker that the cops were coming. The man took a shovel up onto the hill and he started digging and pulled something out of the ground, a long metal tube. The guy took off with it.
I appreciate that the team breaks up into groups and does different research on the property. This keeps things very exciting and I'm so rocket-weary from Skinwalker Ranch, that this is just plain fun with folks I truly care about.
The preview of next week's episode looked very promising! I'm so happy the season is on again!
