Dark History Con is going to be running Saturday August 29th at Lake County Sheriff's House and Jail in Crown Point, Indiana.
Come investigate at the haunted Old Jail / Sheriff's House in Crown Point Indiana!!
This is a fundraiser for the Dark History Con in Champaign Illinois on September 19th & 20th.
It is sponsored by the Dark History Con, The Old Jail and Sheriff's House and Paranormal Geeks Radio.
A portion of the entry fee will be given to the caretaker for upkeep of the jail.
After John Dillinger was caught by local authorities at the Congress Hotel in Tucson, Arizona, on January 30th, 1934,the Lake County Jail became John Dillinger's home while awaiting trial for a bank robbery where innocent people were killed. It later became known as the place from which John Dillinger made his escape and he knew he was headed for theelectric chair if he stayed in the jail. While in jail he devised a plan for his escape.
Dillinger used razor blades provided by the jail to fashion a pistol out of either wood from a washboard or a bar of soap and stained it with black shoe polish. He then threatened his guards with the fake gun, helped himself to a real gun, hostages and the Sheriff's car and headed to Illinois.
