Creepy Music Boxes

It's funny. I grew up in a haunted house and yet music boxes always creeped me out. It always sounded like someone was about to be killed in a horror movie. Nothing good comes from those weird notes....

Now, I'm certain this one (below) is right before someone gets knifed from behind by psychopathic clown on painkillers.

  1. I recently brought an old wind-up music doll to the Noftsger Hill Inn B&B in Globe AZ., on a ghost hunt. I was hoping to intice the children ghosts. However, it only ended up spooking my neighbor in the next room...oops.

  2. Michelle--you're fun! Room 3 is uber haunted. I brought my ventriloquist doll for the same reason and I came back from photographing him at the cemetery and came into the main room to find they were entertaining a reunion of old students in their 70s and 80s. I tried to hide the doll under my jacket over my arm and people saw him sticking out and thought it was my baby dangling under a coat. Haha

  3. Too funny Autumn!! And yes, room 3 is very haunted. That was the room I stayed in. In fact, we faintly could hear children singing in the room. Love LOVE that place! And ooh, the old cemetery in that town, really gives off some interesting vibes.

  4. Michelle, I've always had fleeting insane EMF issues near the blackboard and if you sleep in that bed next to it, during the night you invariably hear a little girl asking a question because her voice goes up at the end of the sentence. I have no idea what she says, but one time near dawn, I just growled at her, "yes, we're leaving today." I assumed she was asking if we were going to leave.

  5. Troubador, a German made music box company, actually made these portable record-player-sized music boxes that played certain encoded disks. My mother's family brought one of theirs over with them here to the Colonies when they emigrated from Thüringia way back in 1929. If you're curious enough to see what they look like or what they're commanding on the collectibles market, you can visit here
