This 1973 gem is one of my cult favorite movies of all time!
Here's a trailer (above) of the new movie that has much of the same elements and feel of "Wicker Man." If you saw the godawful Nicholas Cage version, consider yourself a Wicker Man virgin! Please, see the original. It's well worth it.
I highly suggest this longer and more saucy trailer. Wow! Why didn't they let me know about casting calls for this one? Damn!
I saw it for free online here, but not sure how it loads. I know I'm going to want to own this one, no doubt about it!
I haven't seen the original. But it's on my Netflix queue now! From the preview alone, I'm hooked on both the old and new.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the old one when I was pretty young, and you're right Nicholas cage needs to learn how to say no when people and him scripts. And as far as the new one, it sounds really interesting. I especially like the concept of south of the mouth evangelicals being preyed upon by sneaky neopagans. The wounds from the "burning times" are still sore enough to get some twisted pleasure out of that. I just hope that the movie doesn't go too far in vilifying Paganism in general.
ReplyDeletenow I will probably get nightmares tonight! lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, LII, you're gonna love the naked wall pounding scene.
ReplyDeleteAaron, I agree with you on that. The first one I was thrilled to see because of the basic portrayal of a pagan society, but then it did that 70s things and went all devil-ish which was ridiculous since there is no devil figure in pagan beliefs. The 70s really did a number on witches and pagans. I think Hollywood has a lot to make up for.
I haven't seen 'The Wicker Man' since I was a kid, but remember it was uber-creepy, and just watching that clip gave me the heebie-jeebies!
ReplyDeleteI remember the seeing The Wicker Man as a kid I thought it was great. The Nic Cage version was terrible and a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteI only seen the Nic Cage version and the ending was creepy, but I didn't like it much. I will have to check out the original movie.
ReplyDeleteHa! I haven't seen either! Hmmm...Will make sure I have "D" (the beau) add it to the Netflix to be seen stuff!
ReplyDeleteThe original Wicker Man (and the only one as far as I'm concerned. That remake was HORRID), is one of my favorites. I whip out the DVD and watch it regularly lol!
ReplyDeleteThis Wicker Tree trailer looks interesting and it's exciting to see Christopher Lee (love that man!), so that gives me hope for it. Definitely going to be watching it. Thanks for the heads up! :D
