Go on a Scottish Haunted Tour Trip!

One of my best ghost hunting chums is going on this trip and wanted to let everyone else know about it. She's a well-published author and runs the MVD Ghostchasers in Mesa, AZ. I wanted to spread the word. She went on the last one of these ghost tours in England and it was amazingly awesome, so she's excited about this one next May 2011.

Here's what she has to say:

Ever wished you could visit Edinburg Castle, walk among the tombstones of Greyfriars Cemetery, or being on a Lochness Monster watch? Tours of Terror and GHOSTour are presenting a new Haunted Tour of Scotland coming May 8th thru May 15, 2011. Be a part of this inaugural ghost tour of Scotland by reserving your seat today. The tour promises to be an enchanting haunted vacation for travelers seeking a spooktacular adventure!

Now members of your paranormal team can sign up for this new Haunted Tour of Scotland and join with other paranormal team members on this fabulous adventure! Picture what it would be like traveling through Scotland together on our OWN bus! I did their Haunted Tour of England trip last year, and it was GREAT!

The week long haunted vacation tour of Scotland will be hosted by Charles F. Rosenay("Cryptmaster Chiller Chucky") along with Danny Levine, and TV personality/paranormal investigator Richard Felix ("Most Haunted"). Debe Branning (“Arizona Haunted Sites”) will be along for this first-ever GHOSTour of Scotland. The tour follows in the haunted footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charles. It is a Week of Horrors you will never forget!

Richard Felix met our tour group in the quaint little town of York as part of the GHOSTour to England in May 2009. He spent the afternoon feeding us full of history and haunting information which he had researched and investigated. He dined with us, and became our friend as well as a member of our tour. Richard Felix will be a valuable guide on the GHOSTour to Scotland 2011!

There are only a few places in the world as haunted as Scotland. Its murky past involved clan battles, hundreds of years of war, and the siege of grim-looking castles in almost every part of the country. The traditions and stories told have been handed down through the centuries. Many of the ghost tales tell the story of unsettled spirits who died in tragic or horrific circumstances. Their apparitions appear at certain times of the night, or certain periods of the year—perhaps when they were murdered. Strange, eerie sounds pierce the chilled Scottish air. Ghosts have been reported on dreary roads, in old theatres, and ancient graveyards. Join the tour and visited some of these spirited sites and judge for yourself—if you feel brave.

The tour will explore the Underground City and take the best ghost walks. Some of the places GHOSTour will visit include Greyfriars Church & Cemetery, home of the McKenzie poltergeist; Holly Rood, where Mary Queen of Scot's secretary was stabbed and where the bloodstains still remain; Inverness, for the Highlands Ghostwalk and possibly an encounter with the Lochness Monster; the St Andrews Ghostwalk.

Your week on the Haunted Tour of Scotland includes these “must-sees”:

Edinburgh Castle: The castle has a long and bloody history, and is reputed to be haunted by many ghosts, including that of a headless drummer boy. His appearance is said to be a warning that the castle is about to be besieged and was first seen in 1650 before Oliver Cromwell and his English army attacked. The castle is now a major tourist venue and is home to the Scottish crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny—an ancient rock on which the Kings of Scots were crowned.

Mary King’s Close, Edinburgh: The street leading from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse is known as “the Royal Mile”, with dark and sinister lanes leading off. One, Mary King’s Close, was bricked up during an outbreak of plague and only recently re-opened. Said to be one of the most haunted places in the Scottish capital, the spirit of a young girl has often been seen. Guided tours will take you to the close, Greyfriars cemetery (where the ghosts of covenanters who were tortured and executed linger), and also to the place where body snatchers, Burke and Hare, first dug up corpses to sell for use in medical experiments.

Combine these locations with independent late-night séances, visits to graveyards, on-board classic ghost & genre films, a monster mash masquerade ball farewell party and other surprises, and you've got what is one of the most memorable macabre tours in haunted history. Be sure to visit the GHOSTour website for further information, and to read past tour reports.

CAN I SAVE YOU A SEAT?????????????????

  1. This might actually be a good idea for the "Me Getting The Hell Out Of The Army" vacation don't you think? Are you going to go?

  2. I want to go soooo badly--I'm Scottish! It's so hard committing this early for something a year away, so I'm going to wait as long as possible before I decide. Jeez, it would make a delightful getting hell out of the Army trip!

  3. Oh gosh, this would be a hoot. I'd love, love, love to do something like this. Someday...not sure I can swing it for 2011. We're taking a big trip this year. Might still be saving up come next year...

  4. Court;
    Yeah, I suspect we'd kick it up in the Highlands. It's on my must-do list for life to see my Scottish family's origins but to chase the ghosts around the countryside (or the highland men in kilts)...

  5. OH! That sounds so cool!
    A girl that I work with is moving to Scotland this fall to be with her boyfriend who is going to school over there. I told her about it and I'm sending the link with all the info! She thought it sounded like such fun! I told her to post pics if she does!

  6. Hey Cindi;
    Lucky girl--that would be cool!

  7. The trip is well worth the $$$....only need a $300 deposit right now and you have til March 2011 to pay the balance! If you have to bail--you can get almost all the monies back with letter...
    I think it would be so fun to have a bus filled with ghost hunters! Grab a travel friend and come along! Richard Felix from MOST HAUNTED is one of our guides!

  8. That sounds like it would be a cool trip even if it wasn't ghost themed! I think you should go...sounds like you'd have a lot of fun and get the opportunity to see some of your Scottish roots!

  9. Jeff;
    You're right, of course. It is extremely tempting. I wish I had a magic ball to see into the future cause I'm not great at committing to things this far ahead of time. I will be giving it serious consideration though.

  10. These tours are great because you see a lot of HISTORY along with the ghosts--they are just a bonus. Plus you make some new life long friends. I still communicate weekly with about half our tour group from all around the US! About 12 of them are coming back for this tour since the England tour was so awesome!
