Grave Offerings

I love photographing cemeteries. I bring flowers and leave on on the oldest graves, saying their name out loud, as there may be no one alive any longer who refers to them. I carry a trash bag to clean up any neglect. I am fascinated by things people leave behind as remembrances or offerings. Here's just some -

I've seen folks cover graves in seashells or pretty rocks, leaving toys for children, a bottle of beer, or on one grave for a teenager, her family left a slice of cake and a bottle of champagne.

People used to ask me, as a ghost investigator, why go to a graveyard? It can't be haunted. Well... people visit and leave offerings, sit and update the dead with their lives and how they miss them. They are calling on spirits.
