Practical Magic Lifestyle

"Practical Magic" is perhaps one of the most embraced and beloved movies for females. It incapsulated sisterhood, romance, nature, and possibilities. With the excitement for "Practical Magic 2" coming next fall. There are whole channels on YouTube based on how to recreate the amazing home and the lifestyle. This post is for all of us who adore that world and want to immerse ourselves in it.

As a screenwriter, my primary objective is to tell a story. The purpose of my stories is to entertain, help folks escape to magical places, with characters that are relatable. This film touched a note with women in a big way!

Let's discuss how to dive into that escape world and bring the real magic to our lives. The magic in the film was secondary to the magic within the women. They lived it, surrounded themselves in it, believed in it. No matter how you view your spirituality, nature is always a constant source of renewal and joy. How can we have that in our lives?

Gardening. Tea. Herbs. Crystals. Houseplants. Sunshine. Music. Scent. Books. Moonlight. Flowers. Porcelain. Flannel sheets. Candles. Cardigans. Cats. Rugs. Antiques. Steamer trunks. Picket fences. Teacups and saucers. Teapots. Breakfast brownies. Hammocks. Vines. Windowboxes. Long hair. Flowing skirts. Midnight Margaritas. Botanical beauty products.

There was a very feminine and thoughtful grace about the homestead for the Owens women. Layer upon layer of history permiated the walls of the old Victorian home. Touches like antiques, rugs, beautiful china, glass jars, and tons of houseplants everywhere gave the atmosphere life and honor to the past.

Things that could be added to your home to get that vibe include: Grouping tons of plants near the windows, perhaps on wrought iron stands. Displaying pretty old china pieces found at secondhand stores. Jars filled with ingredients for cooking. Plenty of scented potpourri, incense, and candles. Sheer curtains. Curved and stuffed chairs. Sunshine.

The Owens girls have their own style. Sally was all about the sundresses with cardigans and Gillian mixed slutty with preppy.

The sisters let their hair tumble and be what it may. The aunts pinned theirs up sometimes. Gillian might wear a barrette. Sally let her natural waves tumble down her back or wound it into a messy bun.

The magical book series would be a great thing to own, even get them in hardback as a stack on the coffee table. Get a little fuzzy lap blanket and read away on a rainy day.

Attitude and approach to life - these are the key elements we most want to replicate. These women are resilient, embrace their unique gifts, focus on nature and nurture, make bonds that last for eternity, and revel in beauty; a teacup, a cat, old books, plants, music, dance, spontaniety, and magical enthusiasm. One doesn't need to practice magic to know it exists and it begins with the person and radiates outward.

Gratitude is the attitude.
Appreciation is the method.
Nature is the fuel.
