Talk about hiding in the woods, movies with this theme are an atmospheric delight full of natural terrors of the unseen and being on someone else's territory that may have a home field advantage.

Watcher in the Woods. 1980. When a family moves to a country home, the young girls experience strange happenings that have a link to an occult event years past.
*The Final Terror. 1983. A group of rangers go camping on unfamiliar forest grounds. All's well until the group members start getting killed by a cunning killer in the woods. (lots of familiar actors/actresses)
Cabin Fever/. 2002. Five college graduates rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus, which attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals.
Wrong Turn. 2002. Chris and a group of five friends are left stranded deep in the middle of the woods after their cars collide. As they venture deeper into the woods, they face an uncertain and bloodcurdling fate.
*The Howling. 1981. After a bizarre and near deadly encounter with a serial killer, a television newswoman is sent to a remote mountain resort whose residents may not be what they seem.
*Dog Soldiers. 2002. A routine military exercise turns into a nightmare in the Scotland wilderness.
The Legend of Boggy Creek. 1972. A documentary-style drama about the "Fouke Monster", a Bigfoot-type creature that has been sighted in and around Fouke, Arkansas since the 1950s.
Hatchet. 2006. When a group of tourists in a New Orleans haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare.
*Sleepy Hollow. 1999. Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people, with the culprit being the legendary apparition, The Headless Horseman.
The Ritual. 2017. A group of old college friends reunite for a trip to a forest in Sweden, Eastern Europe, but encounter a menacing presence there stalking them.
*The Blair Witch Project. 1999. Three film students vanish after traveling into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the local Blair Witch legend, leaving only their footage behind.
The Forest. 2016. A woman goes into Japan's Suicide Forest to find her twin sister, and confronts supernatural terror.
*Trollhunter. 2010. A group of students investigates a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.
*Prophecy. 1979. A log company's waste mutates the environment, creating a giant killer bear-monster.
The Evil Dead. 1981. Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.
Gretel and Hansel . 2020. A long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.
