Enjoy a Mini Halloween Day in August

You know you're counting down the days until Spirit Halloween opens and launches the, "I-can-legitimately-get-excited-about-Halloween" season.

Let's have a mini Halloween day. Make some treats, put on the flicks, and darken the room.

Some people call them Puppy Chow, but I call them Muddy Buddies. No matter how you say it, they are the BEST movie snack EVER.

9 cups Chex cereal (any kind)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted.
1⁄2 cup smooth peanut butter, melted.
1⁄4 cup butter, melted.
1 -2 teaspoon vanilla.
1 1⁄2 cups powdered sugar.

Melt the chips, peanut butter and butter. Add vanilla. Toss cereal in it. Now, put that glop into a bag of powdered sugar and shake hard.

To me, candy bark is the ultimate Halloween yummer. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Spread out small pretzels, peanuts, candy corn, or whatever you like. Pour melted chocolate over it. Chill. Break apart.

Now, the movies....

Here's some good movie combos -

Halloween, Halloween II, and Halloween H20

(classic slasher genre)

Phantasm, Hellraiser, and Army of Darkness

(otherworldly/surreal)

The Haunting, The Awakening, The Changeling

(non-violent, gothic, romantic)

Trick R Treat, Cat's Eye, and Trilogy of Terror

(anthology)

Night of the Living Dead, The Thing From Another World, Creature From the Black Lagoon

(classic black and white terror)

Dracula, The Wolf Man, and The Invisible Man

(Universal classic monsters)

Happy Mini Halloween!
