Water-Themed Horror Movies




It would be remiss of me as a blogger to do an entire month of water-themed paranormal and horror stories without giving you a great line-up of movies to watch to inspire more chills and thrills. Here's just some of the tons out there.

*Jaws  
When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and grizzled fisherman set out to stop it.

*Lake Placid
A group attempts to destroy a giant, 30-foot-long man-eating crocodile, which terrorizes Black Lake, Maine.



The Abyss
A civilian diving team are enlisted to search for a lost nuclear submarine and face danger while encountering an alien aquatic species.

Piranha
When flesh-eating piranhas are accidentally released into a summer resort's rivers, the guests become their next meal.



*Ghost Ship
A salvage crew that discovers a long-lost 1962 passenger ship floating lifeless in a remote region of the Bering Sea soon notices, as they prepare to tow it back to land, that "strange things" happen...

*Dead Calm
A mass-murderer kidnaps and seduces a young woman after leaving her husband to die on the vessel whose crew he's just slaughtered.

The Savage is Loose
A husband, wife and their son are stranded on a remote island with no way off; as the son grows older, sexual tensions emerge.



*The Fog
Legend says that Antonio Bay was built in 1880 with blood money obtained from shipwrecked lepers but no one believes it. On the eve of the town's centennial many plan to attend the celebrations, including the murdered lepers.

Leviathan
In a Russian coastal town, Kolya is forced to fight the corrupt mayor when he is told that his house will be demolished. He recruits a lawyer friend to help, but the man's arrival brings further misfortune for Kolya and his family.

Sphere
A spaceship is discovered under three hundred years' worth of coral growth at the bottom of the ocean.

Anaconda
A "National Geographic" film crew is taken hostage by an insane hunter, who takes them along on his quest to capture the world's largest - and deadliest - snake.



*Creature From the Black Lagoon
A strange prehistoric beast lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. A group of scientists try to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study.

Deep Rising
A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who have taken over the ship first.

Triangle
The story revolves around the passengers of a yachting trip in the Atlantic Ocean who, when struck by mysterious weather conditions, jump to another ship only to experience greater havoc on the open seas.



The Deep
A pair of young vacationers are involved in a dangerous conflict with treasure hunters when they discover a way into a deadly wreck in Bermuda waters. Featuring extended underwater sequences and a look into the affairs of treasure hunting. Based on a novel by Peter 'Jaws' Benchley.

Swamp Thing
After a violent incident with a special chemical, a research scientist is turned into a swamp plant monster.



Uninhabited
A young couple go to a remote and deserted coral island for a camping holiday, only to find that the island is inhabited by a ghost seeking retribution for a past outrage.
