Coins Dropping From Nowhere

Coins dropping from nowhere. It's a fairly commonly reported paranormal phenomena. Lots of researchers have studied it like Barry Taff. And some investigators have run into cases where dozens of coins dropped from mid air and landed heads up. Is it possible? Why does it happen? Here's a video offered by someone who has had this happen a few times.

Why does this happen?

Actually, of the poltergeist activity, coins dropping is probably one of the most commonly reported phenomena. The sound of it is familiar and coins are symbolic to most humans. It would seem, if you were going to manipulate something, a small metallic object that makes a distinct sound, is found in most locations, and symbolic would be an ideal choice. It's also an ideal choice of hoaxers who place them atop of doors or toss them from their pockets. So, finding genuine coin phenomena can be a tough trick. You need some good witnesses.

I know of a case where trained police officers witnessed them materializing from 3-4 feet off the ground and dropping, dozens of coins, and all heads up when they landed.

The single most terrifying moment I ever had in the paranormal realm was a poltergeist activity in which the coins were controlled. My family was packing to move west from our haunted home in Virginia. My mother, sister and I sat at the breakfast room table discussing the move while my father and brother were in Arizona, finding the rental house. We heard a loud crash, went rushing across the home to the music room where a portrait on the wall fell from the wall, went 12 feet away, knocked over a folding TV dinner stand that had a jar of pennies on it and stacks of 10 pennies ready to be placed in paper rolls. The picture was unbroken upside down under the tray, 12 feet from its original position, the legs were splayed out, the jar was still standing and the 15 or so stacks of 10 pennies were still flawlessly stacked. Happened in seconds. Made no logical sense. Horrified me beyond reason. In fact, I slept in the cottage out back.

So, can coins be manipulated by ghostly activity? It would seem so. How? That is the great wonder.

  3. Since moving into my new apartment my bedroom door has opened and closed on its own. As eerie as it was I've chalked it up to the forced air or my heavy footed neighbors upstairs.
Then two nights ago the door creaked open and I swear out of nowhere about 2 feet off the ground a penny apeared and dropped to the ground. I just stared in disbelief. Then penny is just still lying there. I can't bring myself to pick it up.
Since my grandmother passed I have found dimes out if nowhere and smiled. But never did they materialize out if nowhere in front of me.
    "Flipping" crazy.

  4. Yes, dropping from nowhere. You are very very lucky to have witnessed that. Many reports of coin dropping that were visually noted, appeared to drop from nowhere as if tossed from one world into ours. If someone/something is able to send a penny from one realm to another, I think I'd be tempted to pick up that penny and toss it back the way it came. It will land on your floor, but it might signal a back and forth if you are lucky.

  7. I had a situation 10 years ago, it happened to me three times. The first time the coin hit me in the back while showering. Second time was also in the bathroom as I was rinsing my hair, third time also in the bathroom in front of my eyes dropping from the air, this third time I got really scared since there was no possible explanation for what my eyes were seeing. I thought I was going crazy, thank god I never happened again. Dont know if it was some sort of sign or what it was but the sensation you get when seeing the coin fall from air in front of you is terrorific

    1. I do understand. I have a poltergeist-like magnetic thing that happens when I am repressing anger too long. One time I was going to reach for a bobby pin in a cup on my counter. My fingers were about 8 inches from the cup, but a bobby pin came right up into my fingers like i was a magnet. Scared the crap out of me. I had objects move, but never at will like that. I tried to make it happen again to no avail, but it was one of those "perfect storm of conditions" that created it. Why coins? How? Does it mean something? We may never know, but they do often happen in bursts like that and disappear.

  12. This happens in my house ALL the time. It has been witnessed by at least 12 people. I have actually seen pennies appear and drop to the floor within 3 feet of me. It makes a sound when they appear, just before the sound of them hitting the floor. The sound is similar to the sound right before lightening strikes, if you've ever been very close to something it hit. It's hard to describe...like air moving out of the way. I hear them fall in other rooms and I find more that I did not hear fall. It is nice to see that this is a "common" type of thing. I've tried to find an explanation for it for years. I have two Masters degrees in science fields and I really wanted a traditional sort of logical explanation. My grandfather collected coins and this is the house he built, so most of my relatives joke that it is him. I once had a veteran stay with me for 6 weeks when he was struggling and I easily found $3 in pennies over that time. There were a lot of other odd things when he was here also...murmur of voices from empty rooms, lights flickering and an ominous sort of feeling that I've never felt here any other time. I've thought about putting up cameras. The pennies are so consistent, I am confident that I would get footage.

    1. This is quite exceptional. When you are in a place that has this kind of activity regularly, it's good to keep a notebook out that people can jot down times, encounters, dates, maybe even take photos of the money that appears. I would suggest that you keep a dish of money in your home with a drop of nail polish on each coin. Let's see if your own coins might be used. If you'd like to write about these occurrences for the blog, I welcome you to. ghosthuntingtheories@gmail.com Thanks

  13. I have recently started experiencing this with quarters. I've been through some very dark years struggling with mental illness and a very poor and toxic support circle. I met the man I'm going to marry about two months ago and I just finished moving from Maine to New York to live with him. He has explained a lot of the things that were happening to me in Maine at my house and also showed me how to see energy. Ever since this sort of rebirth, I've been finding quarters out of nowhere. I was playing with a large dumbbell with both hands getting it in the right position to hold it above my head and once I lifted it up above, I felt something in my hand against the weight, it was a quarter and my boyfriend saw the whole thing. I was also on the tanning room shortly after and was taking my leggings off and I heard a coin hit the floor, but it was nowhere to be found. Then last night I was hugging Daniel and we both saw a quarter drop on the floor next to us. This only a few of these incidents that have happened in the last month. I don't understand it and it's freaking me out.

    1. This is actually a positive thing. The dropping of coins is usually associated at a time in a person's life when they are taking a new path and it is believed by many to represent blessings from the other side. It's a kind of reinforcement. As we may leave flowers at a memorial, the other side appears to like to toss coins as encouragement. So, I would not be concerned about this phenomena, except to know that you are being encouraged for your new course.

  14. Me and my fiance are always experiencing coins getting thrown in our house. It started with only pennies ow mostly quarters. Our old house and the new one. We know we have a ghost in our house. We have audio and video to prove it. Several people have also witnessed it. The other night we st down at home to play a family game of poker and with a brand new set of cards, my fiance and his son went to shuffle the cards and a nickel fell out of the deck 3 times. We are not sure if maybe the ghost is trying to communicate or not but we are curious. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

  15. These things are usually related to good events or positive feelings. They are sometimes short-lived as if there is a brief reminder of things about to take place that are positive. Other times, it happens repeatedly, leaving the homeowners baffled. From what I know as a psychometrist, metals are easy to hold information and the first objects to move in poltergeist or psychokinetic situations. So, coins may not be symbolic as much as easy to convey a point.

  17. I had an older family member who would say that if coins dropped from nowhere it was a blessing from the other side. I had it happen once when I was a teen. The next day, I found out I made the flag team I really wanted to join. You just never know.

  18. On September 1, 2017, I was in my kitchen, home alone. I was making food, adding raw garlic to a bean and avocado burrito (health-conscious, lol) and I was focused on the task, while at the same time experiencing random, passing, thoughts that i didn't pay much attention to... it was something like "despite there being multiple possibilities, perhaps everything has a 'correct' way of being done," it was precisely after having this thought that, one foot away from my food, on the counter to my left, a random coin just seemed to drop out of thin-air. i looked at it, and then looked behind the counter to see if someone was there.. then immediately walked into the neighboring rooms, but there was nobody there, and i was home alone. I came back and stared at the coin for like 15 minutes, smiling and in awe, wondering about where it could have come from. Was it stuck to the ceiling and just happened to fall at that precise moment?--highly unlikely. Was it just hanging off the edge of the slightly higher level of the counter and just happened to fall at that moment?--impossible, the top level is 2-3 inches higher than the lower level, i simulated a fall from there and it was a soft landing... what i heard and witnessed was a hard landing and a one-inch bounce off the counter, as if it had been dropped from 3-4 feet above. Was it a message? Did it come from a different dimension?

I picked up the coin, it looked old, dirty, brown copper, but it wasn't a normal coin, i had never seen one like this before. On one side, in comic-book letters, it reads, "BooMeRs!" On the back side there's a big "B!" and underneath, it reads, "NO CASH VALUE" On closer inspection, the front side has a tiny "HM" on the front side. I later looked it up and found out that it belongs to an entertainment center where they have arcades, miniature golf, go-karts, etc. but the nearest one to where I live is 50 miles away, I doubt anyone in my home has ever been there.

Very interesting, and I was more intrigued than frightened. I was smiling the whole time and just in awe. In any case, this single event has truly convinced me that supernatural things exist, and that there are certain things that we might not be able to explain.

    1. Exciting, a bit chilling and opens up a whole new world. The randomness of coin dropping almost seems as if they were teleported somehow. What special quality does a coin have? Beyond that, it's interesting to note if a coin dropping was a predecessor to some other event, possibly a positive one, that comes up.

  19. well pennies r just worthless I throw them down on the street a few times a week just to not have them weigh down my pockets, they even stopped minting them here n Canada, what would make a REAL difference would be to have gold maple leaf coins appear from a higher dimensionaL realm, these one ounce coins of GOLD would be about $1,200 each for the current market, I can see just having a bunch of them, about 1,000 fall into my kayak while out on Lake Ontario this summer !! that would be just over a million dollars !! I looked it up and 1,000 one ounce GOLD coins would weigh 62 lbs, plus four ounces, my kayak holds 200 lbs and I weigh 137, so it would still float while being heavy HAHA I could make it to shore then cash it all in for a better life in Toronto , indeed !! All of this CAN actually happen in a pure dimension of thought because ALL thoughts are energy, have reaL power, and yes thoughts have wings so to say, can fly to and send and get messages from the source of all creation (God)

  20. Ms Sharon Day, I always hear the sound of a dropping coin on the ceiling of the apartment that we’re renting here in the Philippines. Today I started to jot the date and time down on my notes. My sister told me that she is hearing the same sound sometimes downstairs but we’re never seeing the coins though because it’s always making sound from the ceiling and not on the floor. Would you tell me ehat does it mean? Thanks to you in advance.

    1. If you aren't being threatened, this will pass. It has a tendency to get active and then just disappear. Being touched, per say, isn't a threat except that it is scary. Sometimes, reframing these things can help. If that is the worst thing happening, it may be just an attempt to get attention or be recognized. Once you recognize it and call it out, it often will disappear. Simply state that you know they are there, but they do not belong. Ask them to please leave, it is making you uncomfortable and you can do nothing to help them. If you feel truly terrorized, I would suggest you find a local paranormal investigation team. Talk to them. See if they have ways of ridding you of negative energy. Do not fall for anyone wanting to charge you for the service. This is in the public interest to perform these tasks. Also, ask how they go about it. Sometimes if you are not religious, holy water and the like aren't very helpful as they are not backed up by your belief in them. See if there are options that suit you, such as keeping the rooms lit, soft pleasant music playing or having the home saged.

  22. Hello all. This happened to me earlier today. I was showering and I heard a clank. I looked down and there was a dime in the tub. I continued showering and I heard another clank. I looked down and this time there was a penny in the tub. Later I went back into the bathroom to do start a load of laundry and there was a penny on the floor outside the tub. I have never experienced anything like this. I can't recall if all 3 were heads up.
