Abandoned churches are both terribly sad and terribly regal. They represent a moment in time for a community, an era of growth and fellowship.
They once were the beacon for hope.
They offered rural folks a central meeting place.
They were erected in central locations as a reminder of shared ideals.
They were cast into the shadows for some communist governments.
They remind us of simpler times and the power of prayer.
They showcase a moment in time and a style of architecture meant to please God.
They stood tall and easy to find in any town.
They christened babies, laid folks to rest and united them in marriage.
And, as this video will show you, they continue to be beautiful long after their usefulness is spent.
Here's a song for the search of forgotten churches....
Abandoned churches are amazing. I hope we find more of them.
