Dark and Stormy Night

As children, we were frightened by the flashes of light and cracks of thunder. As adults, we eagerly await a good crash-banger. The best horror movies include a delicious nighttime thunderstorm to move the menacing mood along. If we have our choice on a lazy summer night, a good thunderstorm, a scary movie on the TV, and the sound of rain on the windowpanes can make us actually contented.

Some people chase storms to learn more about how they work and others chase them to film and photograph them.

Some beautiful art is made with photographs of lightning strikes, each one so individual.

Just some movies to get you in the mood if a storm is not forthcoming:
The Amityvile Horror
Poltergeist
Twister
Cape Fear
Friday the 13th
Jurassic Park
