1950s SciFi Day: Female Leads

Barry from Attention Earthlings! blog and I are having a 1950s SciFi day because we love it so very much and his blog is dedicated to it and is a dream come true for me.

This post is dealing with the typical female leads in 1950s SciFi movies:

Fast talking, sassy, witty
Able to get the men coffee
Scream at the drop of a hat
Be related to a scientist or professor
Catch the eye of the hero
A little bit tomboy

The Thing From Another World (1951)

Nikki Nicholson

The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954)

Kay Lawrence

It Came From Beneath the Sea (1958)

Professor Leslie Joyce

20 Million Miles To Earth (1957)

Marissa Leonardo

Others: The Man From Planet X, The Day the Earth Stood Still, When Worlds Collide, Invaders From Mars

  1. And you forgot the most important thing.
    The missile boobs!

  2. If they were smart they would have used more red-heads.

  3. All the gals back then pretty much looked the same. lol.

  4. Yes, the short brown hair assured they were even smarter, right? No redheads--too sexy for the part.

  5. Sassy and brassy.... I can see my sis in a movie. Those are definitely classics.
