I totally agree with you...Thirteen Ghosts were some of the best. I have to also include Alice Krige as Eva Galli and Alma Mobley in Ghost Story (1981)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082449/ She terrified me as kid and still til this day, 30 some years later scares me.
