Grave Encounters: Ghost Hunting Movie

Description: Lance Preston and the crew of "Grave Encounters", a ghost-hunting reality television show, are shooting an episode inside the abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital, where unexplained phenomena has been reported for years.

All in the name of good television, they voluntarily lock themselves inside the building for the night and begin a paranormal investigation, capturing everything on camera. They quickly realize that the building is more than just haunted - it is alive - and it has no intention of ever letting them leave. They find themselves lost in a labyrinth maze of endless hallways and corridors, terrorized by the ghosts of the former patients.

Written and directed by The Vicious Brothers, GRAVE ENCOUNTERS has redefined the found footage horror genre, being hailed as "the scariest film since ‘The Ring’ by New York Press.

Hey, y'all know that I find it hilarious that people thing ghost hunting is interesting enough to put into TV shows, but now a movie has come out with the ghost hunting premise, but admittedly I'm intrigued because the only time that ghost hunting gets particularly exciting is when something happens that is truly unexplainable and then, well, it's about as exciting as it gets!

I'm admittedly intrigued and there just aren't enough ghost stories in movies lately, so y'all know I gotta check this one out!

A trailer from the upcoming TRIBECA FILM release GRAVE ENCOUNTERS, which debuted at Comic-Con, is now online. Its first trailer became a viral sensation with over 7 million YouTube views.

  1. Here's hoping it doesn't turn out to be a dud.

  2. I'm going to predict that this film will be another that relies too heavily on AAGHHH!!! jumping out you from nowhere [pearl-clutches in relief: it's only the cat, Skankums] You, silly kitty. You scared me. Now, let's both go check out that AAAAGHHHH!!! [bosoms heave in panic only to realize it's an old halloween decoration, a collapsed inflatable Oprah] I've really got to put that in the basement. Come on, Skankums. Let's take it down-AAAAGGGHHH!!

I'm sorry. I've gotten so good at predicting this sudden jumps in volume and music and noise, that I have the mute button at the ready. It's not horror; it's not fear. It's just startling, as if someone dropped a dish. You're not left shaken, you're left annoyed. I want a deep, mind-f*cking, mess you up so bad you don't want to go sleep horror film. The kind where you know there's nothing but the wall behind the couch, but that still doesn't dissuade you from the feeling that something is lurking back there over your shoulder.

  4. Hahaha. Cullan, you crack me up! Oh damn! I have a post going up tomorrow you'll like about the horror movie remakes I want to see and who I'd cast in them! I agree about the faux scare. They've been doing that since the 80s. Oh, it was just the cat, turn and it's silent and then (squeaking violin) it's a dude with a knife!

  5. I actually got to see this at the Tri-beca film festival. I did enjoy the movie my only gripe was that I think it was a little long in parts and wanted the ending to be a little different. However I liked the story and the acting is very good. During the Q+A someone asked the Vicious Brothers if Ghost Adventures got in touch with them because the lead actor from grave encounters looks a lot like the guy from that show. They said no legal action was taken against them. I wrote a review but suggest you don't read it because it has some spoilers in it. If you like found footage films def worth a watch.
