Life is a body of water.
You get into it a step at a time, but when you're an adult, you step down and find out that--whoops! The bottom of the pool is deep.
What you do next determines your life course.
One person will step off and drop like a weight, expecting a bottom, refusing to give up that hope and drowns.
One person will flail in panic just trying to survive until exhausted and then sinks to the bottom.
One person will float on his back with no direction, but staying afloat and alive he is alive, but he is directionless.
One person will figure out what keeps him afloat, figures out how to cover some distance and then thinks to set a course.
Which one are you right now in your life?
I'm not sure which one I am right now but I know I definitely want to be water skiing!
ReplyDeleteNow, there's the attitude!
ReplyDeleteBruce Lee said, “Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
ReplyDeleteFreaking brilliant. I think I'd be classified as flood stage.
ReplyDeletei feel fat now.
ReplyDeleteYes, but here's the up side; fatter people float better. That's what I tell myself as I try to lose the last weight I put on in my miserable marriage. I think that padding kept me afloat so I didn't just give up swimming and sink.
ReplyDeleteOk, fine. So I'm a floater! (NOT the dead kind though mind you!) But you see, I am floating on a tube down a cool river enjoying the sun and breathing the fresh air!
