VIDEO: My Home Expresses Me

The painting of the leaf is one I'm working on--it's my tattoo design. I still need to finish the coloring of it and then I want to drop a shadow of it below. It hangs above my bed and as my special symbol it seems to give me good dreams. The other painting with the tree limbs I did too. It suited the mood I was in that day and my house has a lot of stones, tree limbs and seashells and things from nature, so it suits me. I need to get back to oil paints, I really hate acrylic. I have no ability to do anything with depth. The chair in my dining room with the carved heads on the arms came from my summer home when I was a kid. It used to sit in a sunny window-lined library filled with books from the 1700s and 1800s only. As a kid, I loved the musty smell of the books and the old pictures in them. The kids books were especially grizzly. It was carved I believe in the 1800s by a sea captain in the Chesapeake area. It could be even older, I have no idea. I reupholstered it myself but I need to have entire guts of it redone--the springs ancient. The weird pictures and TAPS photo and figurines are in my home office. They make me smile when I have to do crappy work and I want to be doing other things. Hope you enjoyed the little "me" film.

  2. I hate acrylic paint too. There is nothing like the texture of oil paint. You have a very pretty house.

  3. Thank ya'all. I really am a Virgo. Everything is highly organized and I like to have as few objects as possible because I hate clutter and collecting things. So, when I do a vignette, I make it count and it must always contain nature. Don't know when I'll get time to oil paint again, but I can't wait until I do. I really miss it.
