Creeped Me Out In Childhood-How About You?

Am I the only one that these places scared the shit out of me as a kid?

(Bear Country Jamboree)

(Open closet door at night)

(Mall Santas)

(Old lady houses filled with figurines and the smell of lavender and moth balls)

(Dentist's office)

(Cluttered attics)

(Unfinished basements)

(Hospital corridors)

So, feel free to add your own to the list....

  1. Jeez, the Mall Santas really qualify as a form of child abuse, don't they? The only thing that scared my son when he was little was the Mall Santa, and The Wiggles! The Wiggles scare me, too!!

  3. Santas yes, for me also clowns! The Bear Jamboree and other animatronics creeped me out too, open closet doors... one thing that scared the hell out of me as a kid was that puppet show The Thunderbirds. Still creeps me out!

  4. Regan--I have no idea why your comment didn't show--stupid poopid Blogger. You just reminded me how my brother would watch Thunderbirds and I would hide behind the sofa and peek out. I think I need to do a special post on creepy childhood shows! Thanks for the idea!

  7. Mine was a movie - Tower of Terror. I've been terrified of elevators my entire life. And plates with faces on them. My aunt had a collection of Gone With the Wind plates, and I swore their faces moved...

  8. I hated alleys and the dentist. My daughter was terrified of mall santas and Easter bunnies. I would wait with her in the long lines just to have her back off.

  9. Cluttered attics and basements were my playgrounds! :-D I did have a closet when I was in the 3rd grade with an access to a large (to me) empty attic that seemed poised above me constantly like some dark maw. It creeped me out a little that there was this weird paper mask of a girl or clown or something with yarn hair up there. It was one of the few things actually up in the attic. I love attics.

  10. Hey, I used a picture of your closet door on my blog. I hope that is okay. If not, let me know and I'll remove it.

    All the best!
