REVIEW: "The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch" S7E4 "Smoking Guns"

Season 7 is cranking along! Here's a review of what happened in this episode and my take on it.

As they drilled a new wide hole atop the mesa, Pete ran LIDAR scanning to see what it reveals. They got a 1.6 GHz signal as they began digging. LIDAR revealed something underground in a semicircle or circular. It may be part of the bubble phenomenon.

Jan Francke arrived to continue work on ground penetrating radar as they drilled. They decided to end Jan's device down the borehole. The hope was to find out the depth and distance from the hole of any hidden objects. As they drilled, they got a 33 MHz signal. They ran into that same signal in the past with drilling. They then got a 1.2 GHz and 1.6 GHz signal popping off too. These three signals keep showing up during drill work.

They pulled the GPR through the borehole.

Core drilling spoils were checked for gamma rays and showed evidence or radiation. The ceramics from the spoils proved they had not been heated to be created. They couldn't date the materials because of this. They need to have the lab look at the ceramics, as usually with drilling, this stuff would have turned to powder.

High winds on the ranch had the team decide to study the currents of the wind in relation to the bubble area. Blowing smoke into the wind allowed them to study the current. The smoke acted as if the bubble boundary was a force field, sending the smoke up and away. They repeated this and found, once again, at the bubble boundary the smoke is running into something that defeats the winds and diverts the smoke. Then, going against the wind direction, they went inside the bubble boundary and backed out of it, putting out smoke to see what happens. Once again, they found the smoke is being lifted up along the bubble boundary. Outside of the bubble boundary, the smoke followed the wind's path. In a study from the devices and cameras watching the smoke experiment, they saw the smoke following the curve of the bubble. When a filter was added to the video, they saw an orb jetting off against the wind. It was moving very fast.

The bubble area keeps being better defined and observed. The drilling continues. These are good things. I am so relieved there were no drones or rockets. This was more organic study. I'd also like them to bring in their native culture expert to help them look at legends, creatures, and other phenomenon-related high strangeness.

The bubble, while interesting, is rather like studying the rings on the water's surface. You are seeing an effect, but not the source. The source is the rock. Drill on, boys!
