On My Birthday

Each year on my birthday, I'm reminded of the odds of making it to this age.

Given that we didn't wear seat belts in cars or protective gear when riding bikes and skating, didn't have bottles with tamper proof lids, and kids were allowed to take to the streets without a cell phone or way to communicate, not even a bottled water....

You add onto that all the viruses, infections, childbirth, and other possible complications along the way....

I was going through my sentiment box to sort through my past and my family's memories. I came across a scoring sheet for my abilities. I was like 99th percentile for spatial, 95th percentile for communication, and my IQ was clocked at 145 in sixth grade.

When the testing asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my focus was on anything in the communications field including public speaking, writing, and performing.

Ultimately, my family knew I'd either be writing plays or books. Oddly, I am now a published book author many times over, blogger, and screenwriter.

I also share the same birthday as a beloved horror figure, Elvira (Cassandra Peterson)

So, on this day, I say happy birthday to another redhead, one I'm very glad has lasted the test of time and is still here to provide entertainment and enthusiasm.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CASSANDRA! Another year, well-earned!
