Every now and then, I like to have fun experiences that remind me of my heritage. Growing up, my mom liked to do afternoon tea and when I was married, I used to put on formal tea parties. I love the ritual of tea, sitting in a beautiful setting, having leisurely grazing on many tiny tidbits of yumminess and pots of good hot tea. This last weekend I went to a wonderful tea cottage with my best friend and her mother. I'm going to review that experience today.
Kimberly Ann's Tearoom and Cafe in Glendale, Arizona is as charming as it can be.
We arrived at the most charming lavender-colored cottage filled with flowers and delicate decor. It was a girl's heaven, honestly.
We were ushered through the cottage and the kitchen - oh the fantastic scents of tea and scones baking!
The room we were placed in had a few tables and no one else, utter privacy. Our order for hot tea was taken and the charming hostess rushed off to bring us Earl Grey and peach black tea.
The table setting was so delicate and pretty beyond belief with dishes of lemon slices, honey, cream, tea candles keeping the pots arm, gorgeous plates and flatware, as well filtered sunlight coming through the windows. It was so peaceful.
It didn't take long for the tower of pleasure to arrive. On the top, first course was blueberry chocolate chip scones, Devonshire cream and lemon curd. Second layer was fruits and cannoli. The next course involved four amazing tea sandwiches; egg salad, chicken salad with nuts and dried cranberries, tuna salad, and cucumber. The final course involved the best brownies ever, cookies and streudel.
The company was charming, the setting was idyllic and the food grazed at a leisurely pace. This was the best tea I've been to and I love to go to tea houses.
