Zombie Housewives of the Apocalypse

So, Julie and I did the photo shoot for our book "Zombie Housewives of the Apocalypse" in 114 degree heat with humidity. After nearly passing out and losing my breakfast, I rehydrated in the car with the air conditioning on and we took off for the resort for a 2-night stay and a working vacation. We went over the photos and content of the book and sent off the proposal while going over the edit for our "Kickin Up Dust! (Getting Lost To Find Ourselves)" book. We did manage some fun times (as you probably noticed in Friday's "Drunk Ghost Story" video).

There is a post going up tomorrow morning asking for zombie craftspeople to come forward. We are hoping to promote zombie products in the book. The book will also include drink mix recipes by Liz the martini-swilling housewife and housekeeping tips like how to get blood out of clothing by Stella the perfect June Cleaver housewife. There will be lots of pics of the zombie women in their 1950s post-apocalyptic zombie housewife roles and lots of enjoyable fun. Wish us luck. It started out as a zombie shoot for the Blogger Virtual Zombie Walk (see button on the left) and it turned out to be a book!

  1. I gotta say, I really dig this whole concept. It's so freaking DIFFERENT, I can't say I've seen anything like it. What is the format of the the book gonna be?

  2. Hey HN;
    It's a mixed bag o' nuts. It's got pages with Stella the June Cleaver wife giving zombie housekeeping tips, pages with Liz the drunk giving mixed drink recipes, and some pages reserved for people who make and sell zombie crafts that Liz and Stella recommend. Then, interspersed are shots of the zombie wives in their post-apocalyptic homes doing their housekeeping and such with captions from each housewife. There's a brief mention of what they were like before the apocalypse. The zombie condition appears to amplify their personalities. It's rather hilarious too because they're still trying to live their suburban lives as zombie versions, still wearing makeup, feeding the kids, and such. It's humorous and great for those zombie lovers and a bit of a statement on 50s housewives.

  3. Woah, you two certainly give new meaning to the phrase "suffering for your art".

    You do know that this zombie housewife idea is brilliant, don't you?! Publishers would be MAD not to run with this. I can envision hilarious greeting cards, calendars... the sky's the limit! I seriously can't wait to see the pics!!

  4. Thanks LGH; You are exactly the person we'd like to impress. If you give it two thumbs up, then we are on the right track. I wish the weather had been better. If the publisher can wait to go to print with this project, we might go hit that site again in the fall and do more shooting. The women have a lot of antics.

  7. I know when we picked the date for the photo shoot we were worried about the heat. We just didn't know it would fall on a record breaking heat warning week. It was fun despite the heat and we got some great photos. The air conditioned resort afterwards was totally needed.
