Another installment in my Saturday inspiration series.
I had a friend talking about fate and it's a weird thing. I don't believe in fate. I believe life is what you make of it. Here's an example. An artist looks up at that sky (picture above) and sees the sun setting in stormy weather. He stops and pulls out his paints and his easel and canvas and begins to paint.
Was the artist fated to see that and paint it? No. Did he notice the beauty in the world and decide to act upon it? Yes. So, his future was changed by inspiration and action. So, if people refer to fate, to me it is: Inspiration and Action.
Same with the concept of "signs" which I covered in my book "Was That a Ghost?" Signs are something we notice when we're looking for them. Beauty and opportunity is something we notice when we're looking for them. In a married relationship, if you remained loyal, you probably met dozens of people who could have been considered fated for you, but you chose not to notice what was so perfectly matched for you, so you bypassed them. You didn't change fate, you simply didn't act on inspiration and action.
To say there is fate is to say we are stumbling throughout life without any plan, but every action we take creates a reaction. If we look for opportunity and either act or don't act, we change that supposed fate. It's not written in stone, it's written in our perceptions and our deeds.
Now, be inspired and take action tonight. The full moon is very close to the earth creating a "super moon," so take your loved one outside and mention how big the moon is. It hasn't been this close since 73 and it's also a full moon, so it's doubly good. Remember that scene in "Bruce Almighty" when he lassoed the moon and pulled it in to impress his woman? Take credit tonight for doing just that.
As usual, a great post. I too do not believe in fate, mostly because I hate the idea that we're not in control; of course, "Born-again" church folk accuse people like us of denying "God's plan". While I do believe in a God figure, I don't believe he controls every little thing we do.

ReplyDeleteYes, it's called free will. We could pray to God to be with us through our journey, but it is still our journey to do right or wrong, good or bad. I guess that's why I don't understand folks who leave their kids with cancer and no treatment because God should heal them. If that were so, God should be bringing in a paycheck and paying your rent, driving you to and from your chores and generally wiping you off with a towel when you shower, but nope, we must do all those things.
i never belived in fate.

ReplyDeleteYou just gave me an idea for a post in the future about fate, signs and karma. You are my inspiration--but that was not fate that you commented, it was inspiration and action on my part. Hee hee
Wonderful post! I'll be gathering with friends making magic and we just dance by the light of the moon. Enjoy the Moon tonight!
ReplyDeleteI'll get pics tonight!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love having followers who are excited by a super moon! I will be on my back patio in my nightie. I'd love to go naked under the moonlight, but I never know who might be cutting back through the no-through zone to get to their own patio. I wonder what kind of moon water you could make leaving a jar of water in that moonlight tonight--probably powerful spellbinding stuff.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, but it begs the question, what is the source of inspiration? If inspiration is the result of influence from a divinity then inspiration could be a device that predetermines the course of events.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I was fated to reply to your comment???
I think given a lot of ADD adults out there, they are lacking a good deal of inspiration and if the Divine put inspiration out there for us to capture and use, we are missing the boat. Only a few of us who slow down and notice things are able to create and invent. The rest, I do believe are on autopilot and any "fate" for them is bypass by their tunnel vision. I like your observation, though. I said it in my ghost book and it's true. If you want to find God, you can find Him in that tree, that smiling child, that breeze on a warm day. For some, that deity is inspiration enough without any need for action, other than to observe, appreciate and pray.
ReplyDeletevery good post1

ReplyDeleteI just did pics and videos of it. It's gorgeous!!! The pagan in me wants to dance naked.

ReplyDeleteI am wacky and I did just what I said I'd do. I don't think the moon even flinched, although I'm sure I did.

ReplyDeleteI don't believe in fate, never have done.We make our own way.Our failures and sucesses are the product of the choices we make.
