I admit that my attention span for TV anymore is for shit, but now and then a show comes along that has my complete attention. My favorite show of all time was "Stark Raving Mad" and the misanthrope dark horror writer, Ian Stark, was just too brilliant. His character would have been my first choice in friends.
Nowadays, "Big Bang Theory" has taken over my favorite position for the simple reason that some freaking idiot cancelled "Stark Raving Mad." That being said, I have a new character I would just love to have in my life, Sheldon Cooper. Here is how Wikipedia describes this king of all nerds:
"Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) is a theoretical physicist, possessing a master's degree, two Ph.D.s, and an IQ of 187. Originally from East Texas, he was a child prodigy, starting college at the age of 11, and receiving his first Ph.D at age 16. He is calculating and cynical, and is asexual. Sheldon exhibits a strict adherence to routine, a lack of understanding of irony, sarcasm and humor, and a complete lack of humility; these characteristics are the main sources of his character's humor and the center of a number of episodes. Sheldon's family is very different from him; his mother, Mary, is a devoted Christian, and his twin sister, Missy, is not a scientist by any means. Sheldon is consistently the geekiest character in the show. Whenever he tells a joke, or plays a prank, he concludes with the word "Bazinga!" to signal that he just told a joke."
Of course, the characters on the show can barely stand his presence; his condescendence, intellectualizing, literal interpretations, and finicky ways, but honestly I love nerds and I love his awkwardness with the human condition. I find it endearing and him very very lost even for all that intelligence, unable to drive, at the mercy of his quirks, unable to fulfill his part in human interactions.
Oh, hell, I want me a Sheldon!
I want to hang with Koothrapalli
