what happened to "case 39?"

Believe it or not, this film was filmed in 2006. It's supposedly finally going to be released in two days' time. We will see... As you can see this Renee Zellweger movie involves a social worker who helps a little girl whose parents appear to be abusing her. She removes her from the home but horror seems to follow the girl. It looks very promising. I looked it up locally and don't see it listed for Friday. If anyone gets a release date on it, let me know.

Yeah, I came across it by accident. It's been on the backshelf for the studio forever. I was shocked to see Renee doing a horror and thoroughly delighted because she's so sweet that it makes evil seem worse-like the Dorothy and Wizard of Oz scenario.

Good question. It's very weird. They must have either realized it needed to be released away from other similar movies or perhaps it was postproduction problems. It's hard to believe you get a big name like Renee in a movie and wait 4 years to release it...

  9. I've heard all sorts of rumours about this movie and the reasons it sat on the shelf so long, but none of that will really matter in a few days. Horror audiences tend to be less inclined towards judging a movie they haven't seen yet, while mainstream critics tend to look down their noses at the genre anyway. Renee Zellweger is a terrific actress, while they all can't be winners, I hope folks at least give the film a chance.

  10. Well that trailer looks VERY intriguing, so I had to look it up. I don't see anything about showtimes for here where I live either, but it didn't get good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. (But like Bleaux Leaux pointed out, horror/sci fi/suspense/mystery/paranormal movie lovers tend to give movies more of a chance than many mainstream movies get. If they get bad reviews it bodes poorly for the movie.)

Also, I went to Netflix to save it in case it's not shown here. (Or I can't get to it.) It's got 3 1/2 stars there. So...I'll definitely be giving this movie a chance! (I tend to agree more with Netflix's ratings anyway!) THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HEADS UP ABOUT THIS ONE!

I agree. We so rarely get real plot lines and suspense in horror nowadays so I'm cool with it. I'm a bit worried about the CGI stuff, but I think we're stuck with that stinky technology until someone realizes we don't need cartoonish crap, but just want the suspense and things we identify with like fear of the dark and ghosts watching you unseen and all that stuff. Well, you get it-- You're the king of horror classics!

I also saw that "The Eclipse" that Irish one with yummy yummy Aidan Quinn is coming out and you can save it on Netflix too. I hate that, though. As soon as I save a great movie on Netflix that's coming out--it'll be months until it's available. Super long waits! I love everything about Netflix except for new releasese. Ugh!
