How to Take Beautiful Creepy Photographs

Taking creepy photographs is a favorite passtime of mine. All you have to do is find the surreal, get the right lighting, and take the photo in black and white. Here are some chilling and unsettling, but beautiful pics found online -

The key to successful creepy shots is simplicity. It needs to be a shot that when someone views it they ask, "what the hell is going on here?" Vintage photos do a great job of that because the rural settings and odd characters make them unsettling. Who are they? What are they doing?

Masks and costumes work every time, especially when they are like folk art masks that have no recognizable face and not manufactured in factories.

Lighting is everything when doing creepy photographs. Get in a dark setting, cast a light across half the face of a doll or cat, anything - it will look eerie.

I found that your own backyard at twilight is a great spooky location to take freaky shots. One year, I decided to age dolls in the garden to use for a Doll Island theme for Halloween. They sat among growing plants and vines, muddied from rain, peeling, and even ants crawling all over -

Sometimes, creepy shots are created through filters.

Do't be afraid to use your own selfie as a scary pic. I stamped Michael Myers face onto my eye.
