Lonely on a Friday Night: Join Us! Don't Miss Sunday's Post!

Sunday I'm starting a new series of dressing for adventure. It sounds kind of crazy, but it's going to be fun for men and women--both sexes included. I'm hoping to expand on this with local adventure ideas for people in different parts of the country so you can have a weekend adventure like Destination Truth's Josh Gates, but without having to eat rotten thousand year old eggs, traveling 15 hours on a plane, and riding around in a jalopy that breaks down (that is, unless your car is on its last leg).

It's that time again, Friday night. If you're bored, lonely or just want some interesting and unusual conversation, join us here and comment back and forth. I'm your hostess all evening. You may begin...

  1. "You are dancing on the tombs of tortured men!"

    Howdy, Autumn!

  2. Yeah, it's a pretty memorable one. I just put it up on my blog header. I'm pretty pumped for this year's theme!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I like this--you're just soaking in the theme until October. It's going to be awesome by autumn--I can't wait to see what you're working on.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I must confess something of a flip-flopper when it comes to themes. Last year, I couldn't make my mind until it was too late. I'm gonna try to make real commitment to a single theme. Your blog has also inspired me to keep updating my own blog, and to always be looking for fresh ideas to post!

  5. HN;
    You are such a good writer, too. I'd love to see you take Halloween night themes and make a series of shorts about things that happen on Halloween night.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'll have to try that. Thanks! By the way, I wanted to tell you that your "Blogger Zombie Walk" planted the idea for me to try and create a similar online event for this April.

    ReplyDelete
  7. HN;
    Oh, I can't wait to hear about it!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well, I haven't ironed out all the details, but if all goes according to plan, on the 21st of April, I'll be getting me fellow bloggers to join in a tribute to John Carpenter's "The Fog", with all things nautical and macabre!

    ReplyDelete
  9. HN;
    That is one of my favorites of all time!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. So, what exactly is the 'dressed for adventure' plan? It sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Autumn Hi HN !!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Cullan;
    I'm going to model some of the clothes I wear on hunts and give links to finding these things and how to dress the men, but I also plan on helping people find adventures in their areas and tasks to do to bring excitement to their lives.

    Barry;
    Howdy!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hello to you too, Barry!

    Yeah, Autumn, hopefully I'll be able to get enough horror bloggers interested. I'm planning on e-mailing Pumpkinrot, 'cause I know he's a REALLY big fan of that flick.

    ReplyDelete
  14. HN;
    There are tons of horror movie blogs too that would love to jump on!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep, here's hoping! :) Well, I'd better go help my dad, with finishing the basement. Nice talking with you, Autumn! Can't wait to see tomorrow's post!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey HN;

    Howdy!

    Barry; I like your monkey pics!

  23. lol steampunk monkeys says it all

  24. They are cute. You really have style, Barry.

  25. Hey Sis;
    When is GA coming on for you?

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's on here. Let's get it awn.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is recording right now and I plan to watch it after "Who Do You Think You Are".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Pangs;
    Awesome! I want the insider scoop.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Julie;
    I'm playing "Disturbia" because we don't get GA for hours here.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Kim Cattrall just found out that her grandpa was a bigamist. I like "Disturbia".... good movie.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Now, why can't that do that show for us folks? I hit an ENORMOUS roadblock in my grandmother's life. The laplanders in Sweden around 1900 when she was born--not great record keepers. Most folks don't want to admit they're related to Americans so they're not real forthcoming. The real bitch was her last name was "Eng" which is a popular Chinese name. It's like impossible to find in Scandinavia. It does mean "field" or "meadow" I believe in the language.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yep, I have lots of info on my Dad's family but my Mother's Italian roots are a mystery. I guess I need to take a long trip to Italy to find answers. Are you up for a trip?

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you don't mind trekking over to the arctic circle with me or the Norwegian Fiords or the Scottish Highlands. I wonder how the Frasers would feel if I knocked on their castle door?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Zak is all dolled up like a ghost management technician.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, Pangs, buddy! That sounds awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  36. We will spend some time in wine country and then it's off to freeze our butts off in the arctic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. LOL Pangs, looking forward to see that. I will be watching in 15 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Julie;
    I must get my ass pinched by one Italian. Then, I know I've visited Italy. I think I'd rather get cold first and then warm up in Italy. Sounds like a Destination Truth episodes. "They tackled the Arctic Circle and frosty tundra for evidence of grandmother's parentage and then whisked off to the Italian countryside in search of grapes and sunshine."

    ReplyDelete
  39. I like your idea better. I would rather end our journey in Italy, drinking wine, eating the yummy food and getting our asses pinched. I wonder if while in the arctic we can rent a DT type lame vehicle? That would make the adventure interesting, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  40. We'd probably need one of those snow cat thingies or ride a reindeer. No, probably a snowmobile. I saw on tv once that there's a drive-through window in Norway, I think. It's used by snowmobiles. haha. Here in Ahwatukee, it's golf carts.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's golf carts out here in Surprise too. Probably because we are so close to Sun City.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Gee yeah. I noticed a lot of people riding tractors on the roads too. hee hee

    ReplyDelete
  43. At least we don't have to worry about horse and buggies like my friend in PA does. She says they are a hazard.

    ReplyDelete
  44. watching GA now and excited to see them at the hotel I want to stay at some day...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Man, I wonder if the Amish ever just think, "maybe we should head west where there's open land?"

    ReplyDelete
  46. Aaron is sellin Zak's head on ebay....lol. Zak is nuts. He makes Josh look tame.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Zak is a freak of nature, a dork and a spaz, but he really sucks at being a bully because you can see the sweet gentle boy underneath. Others might not see that but to me it's really obvious. It's like his heart isn't in being a bully or perhaps he needs a stiff drink and a bigger dirty vocabulary.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Zak is just a boy in a bulky man's body.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Exactly. He's always so awkward and gentle around other people and I get the sense that he was picked on as a kid and he's just really considerate of other people and their feelings. I also get the sense that he has a very false bravado from the exterior to the bullying to the bossing around. I think he's just terrified of being ordinary and unnoticed. That's my psych 101 on him.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I kind of got that about him even when the Vulture Mine's dude, Marty said that he was primping and constantly checking out his hair before the cameras were on. He probably was picked on as a kid and that usually carries on through adulthood. I also feel that deep down he is a good person.

    ReplyDelete
  51. ...a good man that like ghost women, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You watch that little boy look of wonder and excitement when he interviews people and gets caught up in their stories and tries to comfort them and you realize he's a big sweetie inside, even though the ego seems to be running the show. Once he gets more secure in himself, he won't have to work so hard at making people like him or approve of him. It may take him another decade to get there, but he should mature nicely. I don't know why I do that, but I find good qualities in everyone. When people seem like asses, I realize their ego is running the show. The ego does a shitty job of getting the genuine self across and it's only the genuine part of people we like, not the ego part.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yep he does have a big ego.... it does make for great entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  54. He may be simple, but he ain't stupid. He knew enough to jump on the bandwagon and laugh at himself.

    ReplyDelete
  55. also, look where their documentary let to.... a very popular show.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yup. The key here was that they hooked us on their personalities. When J&G started out the first season, they did that. We got used to Brian being Gilligan and Jason being the Skipper. Then, it just got dirty and nasty and personal. I wasn't pleased that their aired their issues with Brian. It was just wrong. They worry about looking unprofessional by running through a building yelling "Run dude!" but then they rag on Brian in front of everyone. I lost a lot of respect for them for not just taking the high road and just replace him without all the displays of his ineptitude. It left a bad taste.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I never did understand why they did that. I felt uncomfortable with all the fighting and Jason bullying Brian. I was also put off by that.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, I'm sure they decided somewhere along the line that it would be better to instill the reality aspect of the show, but honestly my favorite reality moment was at the beginning when Jason's wife was ragging on him about the money down the toilet ghost hunting and the trailer in the yard. I would much rather have seen their own wives and their dealing with it, but you know they wouldn't do that. They had no problem tossing Brian out there and using him as a bone. Not that Brian was any asset to the team, the guy had issues, but it set a tone that said "you must be assimilated by the borg collective." And thus, their passel of drones were born.

  59. GH has had so many different investigators as well as GHI. GA just has the three dudes and now guests that help them. It's the bad mix of personalities or syfy that has people moving quickly through the revolving door.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Syfy, considering their audience is more intelligent than say the audience at E! really does go for the dumbest denominator when choosing shows. DT was a smart risk. FoF is a great concept, but still too dumbed up for the audience. I'd rather see a show like FoF hire a cast that's legitimately brilliant and maybe even just regular looking people instead of looking all stiff and pretty and so young you doubt they know a damn thing. I seriously would get a bunch of nerds and spaz's of all ages, sizes on that show. I would trust their findings and respect what they say. FoF is just so smooth and soooo self-conscious. I love DT because it has personalities like GA does but it also does something the others don't--they dive us right into seriously exotic places we'll never get to see and search in dark jungles and lonely graveyards for the unknown. In FoF, they're not looking for phenomena so much as proving it can be faked. They need to give us something we don't have, like DT takes us to cool places and taking risks.

  61. Hey sis, good show. I can't wait to spend the night there. Unfortunately I am tired and will be saying goodbye for now. I had one drink and it made me sleepy.... can you say lightweight, lol. I will see you Sunday morning and looking forward to our south mountain trek.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dang, I'm late to the party, as usual...

    ReplyDelete
  63. I gotta get to bed anyhow. The old lady's grandma died this week so I'm headed down to Fairfax in the morning for the funeral at noon. I swear I think the women is going to sit up in the casket, point at me, and say to my wife "Ahhh, look how fat he got!".

    ReplyDelete
  64. Say hi to my hometown. Sorry to hear about the loss. That sucks. I hate funerals. Been to too many!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hey Soraya;
    That's weird. I turned off the computer at 11:30 and your message says you were on at 10:38. Strange. It didn't show your message. Argh! I will catch you next Friday, I hope. I want to get updated.
