My mom started me a year early in school so I was 5 going into first grade--yuck! Yeah, I remember Kurt. He terrorized all the girls at school. I wonder what happened to him? One time he snuck onto my property and tried to unzip my one-piece culotte outfit and I was kicking and dragging him (he was holding my ankle and dragging on the ground) up to my house where I proceeded to grab the horse whip from the wall and go after him. Hee hee. I think he hung with Rusty back then? Was that his name? Jeez, that brings back Stephen King nostalgic memories... hee heeSharon Dayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13609356325356264202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562032584293780619.post-60974239348110647232009-04-08T16:17:00.000-07:002009-04-08T16:17:00.000-07:00He and some friends of his used to chase me, beat ...He and some friends of his used to chase me, beat me up, whatever, although I eventually hung out with his younger brother Roland for a couple of years. Roland was with us when we got nailed breaking a window at the school behind your house, probably summer of 74. I miss those days sometimes-well actually a lot:-)The spookiest times we would have is when we visited our grandmother in the small Texas town she lived in -the landscape and the night sky were so different-you could actually see the Milky Way!! It was so easy to imagine ghosts haunting the old -run down and not lived in for years homes in the area-there was one for many years right across the street-although it was a tiny home and not the "spooky mansion" types in a horror novel-even then we wouldn't be caught dead in there at night! best to you as always!! it is so sad that kids imaginations are being-or in a lot of cases already have been taken over by the boob-tube -playstations and the like.Devinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08467101354793913827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562032584293780619.post-7985325023539049312009-04-07T09:50:00.000-07:002009-04-07T09:50:00.000-07:00Like VW Beetles? I've seen them land and then just take off right away--must have some saucy blood. I love the things kids do to entertain themselves. That giants game sounds cool. We did something similar by calling the dogs and pretending they were vampires and if they touch you, you become one, so we'd call the dogs, they'd chase us, and we'd climb trees. One of my favorite things when I was bored and alone was to lay in the thick grass and study the sky and clouds and then imagine that I'm falling into the sky like a swimming pool. I'd hang onto the grass and after a time, I'd feel like I was actually falling. It was wild. Loved in the autumn when miles and miles of birds would fly south. I'd lay there for hours watching them. No wonder I'm such a nature lover and romantic.Sharon Dayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13609356325356264202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562032584293780619.post-23798749674238786972009-04-07T08:42:00.000-07:002009-04-07T08:42:00.000-07:00Another enchanting story of Aspen Grove. This one ...Another enchanting story of Aspen Grove. This one reminds me of when I was young, my brother Dennis and I would play outside all day with the neighborhood kids. The Phoenix summers were so hot but we didn't seem to mind. We had a huge open field across the street from our house where we could let our imginations go. Our favorite was pretending to be on the "Land of the Giants", being the little people chased by the giants. We played ditchum as well as many other games. We didn't have an eerie place to play in like Aspen Grove and its enormous mazes, but we had fun anyway. Also, I heard that the mosquitoes there are as big as VW Beetles? Yikes!<BR/>JulieJulie Fergusonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10460274888229792456noreply@blogger.com
